My dining companions and I thought the food was just average. Service was good which is surprising since the place closed for good the next day.
Of course, they were out of some of our choices which is natural for a place closing.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Howard E.Hollywood, FL0215Jun 4, 2022
Saturday night stopped for dinner in the area. Shocked how empty restarant was but food and service was excellent like I remembered from past visits.
People, where are you? And help keep this family establishment going.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 3, 2021
We've not been for a long time and for no reason really. It was on our radar for birthday dinner. It was a smaller menu than we remembered but just a delicious as we remembered. The spaghetti meat sauce, oh my goodness so yummy
The "lightly" breaded shrimp was more breaded than it should have been but so yummy nevertheless. The perch was great. The linguine Alfredo was also very good. Can't wait to go back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Barbara S.West Bloomfield Township, MI06Dec 10, 2021
We used to love going to Sposita's restaurant. Unfortunately, our visit tonight was terrible. The only positive was the wait staff aiming to please. When the salad came it tasted nothing like the salads in the past. The dressing had no flavor. The minestrone tasted like it came from a can. And the main dishes were fair at best. And then we got our bill. Nowhere did we read in advance that we would be charged a fee for using a credit card.
.BTW, there was a large party in the adjoining room. However, the owner was not there. Seriously, on a Friday night with a large group, and no owner? Mr. and Mrs. Sposita would be horrified to see what has happened to their beloved restaurant.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alan B.Dearborn Heights, MI01Oct 24, 2022
Dined at Sposita's on 10-22-2022
The wait staff were very attentive, and tried very hard. I appreciated their attentiveness. They all looked professional; their appearance was exquisite.
The restaurant was very clean, everything appeared meticulously cared for.
The food: my soup, salad, and lasagna all arrived at the same approximate temperature. Even warm the Minestrone soup would have been merely 'ok'. It tasted like a pre-packaged commercial soup available from a restaurant supply business.
The Chicken Sposita was dry and over-cooked, just shy of burned, but the sauce (a riff on Hollandaise) was quite tasty. This appetizer was the only thing served that was almost warm.
The lasagna had a wonderfully velvety sauce, and an excellent taste, but the entire dish was cool... as if it had sat on a counter for quite some time. The lack of warmth made it quite disappointing.
Went to use the restroom, which is adjacent to the owner's office. He was leaned back in his chair, feet on desk, shoes off, wearing a filthy apron. NOT a great image to paint for the diners.
This was our first time at Sposita's; not sure we will venture back. Perhaps in a few months. As my teachers would note on my report cards so many years ago, "Not meeting expectations; falling short of potential."Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 6, 2018
We were off to quite a slow start for dinner here - we waited over 20 minutes before we caught our waiter's attention to place our order. Once our orders were placed, things went more smoothly, although the meal overall took a long time (more than an hour and a half).
My advice to anyone who comes here is to pace yourself. With the amount of food you get, it's definitely a marathon! In addition to the bread/breadstick basket, the non-pasta entrees come with an antipasto platter (salami, mozzarella, cocktail shrimp, olives, carrots, and celery), house salad, minestrone soup, spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, vegetables (zucchini and onions for us on this visit), and mashed potatoes.
I ordered the veal colombo as my entree. It's basically veal Parmesan, except they use palomino sauce instead of marinara - it's basically a creamy marinara. The veal medallions were soft on the inside and flavorful. I was satisfied with my entree. I also really enjoyed the spaghetti with meat sauce that came with my meal. The pasta was al dente and the sauce had a robust garlic flavor to it. The minestrone was also good - warm, hearty, and not too salty. What I really loved, though, was the veal chop my brother ordered that I got to try. It was gigantic - definitely enough for two people to share. The meat itself had a nice caramelization on the outside, and the inside was melt-in-your-mouth tender. It's the best veal chop I've had!
We were all completely stuffed after our entrees and had no room for dessert. If you have the time to spare, I think it's worth coming here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Julia B.Farmington Hills, MI563293Aug 12, 2020
Nice ambiance, kind staff & flavorful food! I got the Shrimp Sposita (10/10), the shrimp itself was so decadent. Next time I would sub the beans for more potatoes. I got the palomino sauce for the pasta side and it exceeded all expectations. My meal was worth the $27 after each course and the entree.
My boyfriend got the Lamp Chops, which he gave a 7.5/10. The flavor was savory and a little sweet which he enjoyed. Next time he would ask for Medium Rare since Medium was a little overdone for his liking.
Staff was in masks the whole time and everything seemed pretty sanitary.
Overall, would definitely go to Sposita's again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - food s.MI, MI309Oct 20, 2020
What happened to the Minestrone Soup. VERY salty and a different texture than the original. I've been buying the Minestrone for years and know what it's supposed to look & taste. The manager acted like He was doing me a favor taking my order.
Bad attitude & not going back until Covid is over. C'mon Tony fix the problems.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jeff C.Novi, MI041Jul 27, 2022
This used to be a great place to eat before the change in ownership, now the food is unrecognizable and the disorganized nature of the establishment is clear from the moment one walks in. The boss frequently gets drunk and shows no bother to hide the fact and yells at employees in front of guests. The fact that this place is still open is shocking to me after seeing the decline of the quality from fantastic to inedible. More often then not there are multiple former iconic dishes that are unavailable such as certain cuts of steak and lamb chops. Avoid this place if you care at all about getting the value you pay for with new higher then ever prices. I would not recommend this former great place to eat to anyone when there are infinite better and more worthwhile options nearby.

Long Time Patron but disappointed in the quality and service of this place. Everything has gone down hill the chicken Sposita was thin and dry and the sauce is no where were it used to be. The place was understaffed and everything was horrible. Steak was overcooked as well. The dish is supposed to come out with fresh green beans but they ran out and gave us canned spinach instead.
