Sportsman Bar & Grill

We were looking for houses in Bennington and decided to try one of the local restaurants with my parents. We went downtown an decided on the sports bar. It was early evening and no sporting events were on so we easily found a table. The staff seemed friendly enough but the food was mediocre. I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a Blue Moon. The burger wasn't bad but it really didn't leave an impression either. Same with the fries. I realize that the bar is in a small town but the only thing that makes this a sports bar is the name and the fact that it has televisions. The television quality and place wasn't very good. I couldn't imagine trying to watch a game there especially with so many other quality sports bars in Omaha (Varsity, Farrell's, Legend's). I'm not sure that I'd go back. I'd probably just make the drive a bit further down 156th to Runza.

There are three restaurants in Bennington, the Sportsman, Keno Cabana, and Shettlers. And the Sportsman is definitely the best of the three. I have only lived in Bennington for a few years, but this place has definitely grown on me.

The service is friendly and the food is excellent. Their burgers are cooked just right, their fish sandwich is amazing, and their beer selection is decent with Guinness on tap.

If you are looking for a cozy bar and grill, the Sportsman is definitely the place to be.

Worst service I have ever had in Nebraska. Waited 40 minutes for a chicken salad and drinks were impossible to get. Server had attitude too. It was a Thursday night and not crowded!!!

Have visited the Sportsman for years. Steak dinner on Friday nights are worth the 10 minute drive from West O. The place is as clean as a whistle with cold beer, good food always and friendly staff. Best long island iced tea in Omaha.
