WORST SERVICE EVER
I felt judged and as if I was annoying them the whole time.
I went in to purchase a new tennis racquet and I literally had to haul ass to find an employee to help me. The guy that helped me was not knowledgeable about anything I asked for, he said he'd get someone to help me but he also stayed there just so he can oogle at my ass in my grey leggings!!! It was so uncomfortable I had to maneuver my way so he can't see, and it was just awkward as f*ck because I told the two employees I would just use my phone to look up comparisons to see which racquet would be more suitable for me and they just stood around me both staring at my ass.
The cash register lady was still in training and she signed me up for a sports Authority card without my permission and at the very end, the manager that was helping the new trainee just said, "okay, you're done." no have a nice day or thank you for signing up or spending over $200+. This service seriously sucks... I felt attacked the entire time.
- THE STAFF
The female Asian manager with short hair is rude as f*ck and gave me dirty looks, but the older fat manager was pretty sincere but also careless and not informative enough. Both looked as if they hated their jobs and had trouble training one of the cash register girls.
The new cash register girl had no clue what she was doing, she messed up my form and did not wish me on my way.

I bought a $200 tennis racquet where I had to get a paid for service for my racquet to be strung, and when the two managers told me I would receive it by the end of the week I immediately told them I needed it much earlier for school. I told them I would like to cancel my order and buy a cheaper racquet instead so I could use it immediately; I was fought off and told that the person that strings the racquets is really fast and they only "had to" put down a due date but that it would be ready by the time I needed it. It was not, and I was ill-prepared for school.
I am so appalled. But hey, at least I get a "birthday surprise" with my new members card. Pfft.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 15Oh no 0 - Ryan K.Napa, CA1354Mar 8, 2016
Horrible experiences lately. From the dirty restrooms and hurricane like organization of stock in literally every department I am done with this store. Asked for Heely's shoes for my son and was told they are "seasonal", alright I guess but when I asked for baseball cleats and was pointed to an aisle that was a safety hazard and had almost no stock! I understand it's baseball season but at least organize your existing stock do I don't trip walking through. Now to sports briefs and surprise - nowhere to be found! The employees were not helpful at all and when I brought up these issues they gave me a typical teenage response ".....I don't know......" ???!!?
Lots of competition out there so I will not be shopping at sports authority any longer.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - B T.Argyle, TX017818Sep 1, 2012
Al S. basically summed up my experience the other day...see his review from 7/3/2012. I've gone in here about 4 times, each visit worse than the last. The kids that work there apparently have no adult supervision.
I too stood in line, watching a few employees chat...one ringing up a few guys, one chatting with his friend from high school...it was too long and too much stress. Not worth it. It's a shame, because there price was quite a bit lower than another local sports store (one that specializes in the sport I was after)...but the markup at the other place is worth it, because they have great customer service there.
In short, I threw my items down and left...I guess they don't want the money.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lyndsay B.Sacramento, CA489145119May 5, 2014
The Staff at this Sports Authority completely impressed me. We were greeted warmly and asked if we needed help with anything. My father needed weight lifting gloves and the woman who greeted us got on her walkie and coordinated two people to help us find the gloves. While my dad was looking for gloves I spotted some running pants that I wanted and, again, two associated came to help me pick out a pair that were the right style, length and color.
While I was getting help with the running pants my dad struck up a conversation with Dwayne and they chatted for about 15 minutes. Dwayne was such a sweet guy, he told us that he tried out for the Raiders and almost made it. My dad is a football coach and so is Dwayne so they talked about that for a while.. my dad was totally impressed with him!
When it was time to check out, Dwayne handed my dad a 20% off coupon and we used it at check out. The guy that checked us out was new but very knowledgeable.
Every associate that we came in contact with was completely welcoming and helpful. We will definitely return to this Sports Authority!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Donna S.Roseville, CA5847121055Sep 11, 2013
Totally a great store. I like the different departments, with so many options in each. They have a great selection of womens sports wear. Stylish too. Tons of Nike. I was impressed the tennis section, everything is well stocked. In order. The store is huge and it is tempting to just sort of mosey around and look at all the different items. UInless you are in a hurry or know exactly what you are looking for its fun to take some time here. I am still thinking about the neon lime green running shorts I did not buy!!! I thunk they are calling me back... customer service was great too. I was asked a couple of times if I needed some help or had questions. This store seems on top of pretty much everything and has the latest products. Good location and parking. Practically every sport represented here.

Lately I feel like i am a common fixture here. Customer service is great even if all the prices are not. At least I scored my bosu ball for under $100 and walked out with a $25 cash card to boot.
I love that most of the men that work there are easy on the eyes....it makes my shopping trips much more pleasurable.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nasdaq Y.Woodland, CA516280Jul 11, 2011
Came here looking for a Giants jersey and though they had some the prices were not the greatest. I can order them from mlb.com for a cheaper price when they are on sale. They have many racks of discontinued/clearance items which are reasonably priced.
These stores are packed full of sporting goods and yet I could not see paying the prices they were asking for on some of their products. Like the Nike and Adidas t-shirts I usually buy at the factory outlets since I don't need to have the latest from them. Overall a nice store but in my case I have to wait until something is on sale before purchasing from Sports Authority.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley P.Sacramento, CA5172Aug 27, 2015
Worst customer service I have received at this sports authority. I went in with a jacket my sister had purchased for me to exchange it for one my size. Online said they had it. Only problem was it was a gift so no receipt but I called ahead to make sure that would be okay. Once in store took it to first girl who was nice and told her I'd like to fine same thing in my size and exchange she said okay as she put it to the side for me. Couldn't find one but bought some other merchandise and went up to pay for it and get my jacket back. Sad to say I was hassled by the next two employees that didn't believe the jacket was mine. And the girl ringing me up was too busy complementing my fiancées tattoos to even pay attention to the military card that was handed to her so I didn't get a military discount.

I came here to get World Series t-shirts and was greeted with solid customer service. They were friendly and very willing to help me find the type of shirts I wanted. The store was clean and clearly has a wide selection of sports equipment.
At the end of the day they didn't have all the ones I wanted. Still, I thought it was nice that they still tried to be accommodating by informing me when their next shipments should be and even suggested surrounding stores that may have it in stock if I couldn't wait.
If price is your concern, I would still go here first if you're looking for anything related to sports wear. They are by far cheaper than their competitor, Sports Fever, and much more friendlier.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erik T.Brentwood, CA6247Nov 13, 2015
