MOLD INFESTED! HORRIBLE STAFF! Do NOT live here!
My husband and I moved in at the end of June. From the beginning we could tell the staff was rude, but ignored it because we were happy to have a place to live near NC State where my husband studies. When we moved in I was a couple months pregnant and in the middle of the sickness phase of it all. For the entire first month we were there, there was loud construction work on the apartment above us. The workers played loud music and one time I even walked out of the shower to find workers ON OUR PORCH without our permission. They moved our porch furniture around & didn't clean up after themselves. I called the office to complain and was given NO apology (a recurring theme in this story) and was spoken to very rudely. The next issue we had was when the porch above us was being power washed. Water began to rush into our porch sliding door, through the wood, & onto our carpet. After calling the office they were- again- unapologetic & sent a maintenance worker who looked at the door frame for about 5 seconds before saying "it will dry". After my husband raised mold concerns, he quickly said "it wont mold." and left. We were frustrated, but did our best to dry out the door frame and clean up the water. We made sure to write EVERYTHING in an email so there was proof, and almost every time they would ask for us to speak with them in person or just not respond- so they obviously didn't want their rude responses documented.
Our next concern happened about a month later when the doors were being painted. We were given a note telling us to LEAVE OUR DOORS UNLOCKED, so that the painters could get around the door frame. Luckily being as sick as I was, I was home everyday and could protect my belongings, but most of the residents worked and went to school during the day. We were so shocked by a request that ridiculous and it even more so confirmed our impression that the staff couldn't give a crap about the tenants.
Flash forward another month. It's almost mid September and water starts pouring in through our kitchen, into our cabinets, and soaking our groceries. We called and left the office a message that night since there IS NO 24\7 emergency line for some reason. The next morning it begins again and I call the office. Lizzie picked up who is by the far the most rude and incompetent staff worker I've EVER encountered. I politely mentioned the water & she rudely said she would send someone. 45 minutes go by and I'm running out of towels to catch the water. My husband calls the office again for an update, and simply asks why Lizzie didn't send someone earlier when they opened after hearing our message from the night before. Lizzie begins to yell at my husband telling him that we need to stop harassing her and that it isn't her job. She handled the situation obviously VERY unprofessionally and we couldn't believe we were being yelled at by our locations office staffer. After hearing the words she chose for my husband, I called her. An hour has gone by at this point with water continuing to pour through our kitchen and I asked her the same question & was given the same ridiculous and unprofessional response by Lizzie. A maintenance worker arrived after an hour & a half of water pouring through the kitchen & he let me know there was a leak upstairs & that they were fixing it, & that the only thing I can do is wile up the water. WIPE UP THE WATER THAT HAS SOAKED OUR WOODEN CABINETS. That kind of water damage would require heating fans to dry out the wood, but no we were told to wipe it up.
The day before I had noticed some green spots around some of our air vents. We weren't quite sure what it was, but upon inspection we realized it was in fact green mold. After noticing the mold we began to search and found TONS in our utility closet and inside of our air vents. My being 5 months pregnant at this point, we quickly left the apartment to stay with my in laws until we could move out to a safer place to live. My husband sent an email with pictures to Lizzie and Pat with again, NO response. One day we came home to find that all of the mold had been wiped away. Someone had entered our apartment with no warning & sprayed killz on the water leak stains & wiped over the mold. We were furious as we hadn't even received a response from Pat or Liz & someone had entered our home without permission or any warning at all. We hired a mold specialist to give us a report since there was still mold in the ducts & in the utility closet they missed luckily. He found more mold than we thought there was, & said it was obvious they never did ANY upkeep & put a bandaid on everything. We wrote everything up & let the staff know when we would be moved out & the refunds we would expect from them. They gave no apology & treated us rudely even while trying to get our refunds which was like pulling freakin teeth!
DONT LIVE HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH MOLD AND UTTER INCOMPETENCE!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
