TFW you ask for something & actually get it. I have a 4 week standing appt at Spalon. The prices are affordable, Jessica is a confident pro who takes the time it needs to get it done right but still moves with intent, the shop is cute & right next to the best wings in Hudson, the vibe is unpretentious & they have Aveda (I am 75% very resistant grey). That's all this brunette needs to be happy. :)

I am in love with this salon! I went in for a fake bake with my fiancé a few days before the wedding. I was a little worried that we would be orange because we have never had a spray tan before, but they came out amazing on both of us. No one realized we had them after we washed them off and it made my wedding dress pop!

I then returned for my wedding hair and make-up. They provided champagne and little cookies and pastries for me and my bridal party as we waited. Everyone loved their hair and make-up. I could not have asked for a better salon for my wedding. Everyone was friendly, and they realized my vision and made it happen even without a trial since I was traveling from far away. My hair and make-up were absolutely perfect for my big day. Thank you so much to Kelly for my make-up and Chelsea for my
      hair. I loved it!!

Great place with an awesome atmosphere! I stay with my hair stylists for 7-10 years at a time and it is very hard for me to have to change. This was the easiest transition I've ever made. Loved my style the first time and continued to every time after. My color gets complimented almost daily. The Aveda line is just wonderful and I love the smell of their products.

I went for a $1 minute massage as I was waiting for my appointment (I got there early) and Shianne was great! I scheduled a Swedish massage with cupping because of it and will be a regular now for a massage. She did an amazing relaxing massage. I was weary about the cupping but I hold all of my stress in my shoulders so there is always discomfort for me there. That day I felt ok but oh my gosh the next day I was so loose and comfortable, that is so very rare for me. I will always add it to my massage and probably go for just the cupping when I really need it and don't want to go for the whole massage.

I don't understand how anyone could write a bad review of this place but do understand that unfortunately people usually only write reviews when they have something to complain about... the place was booming and they do many weddings in the area due to the amazing work they do that gets passed on by word of mouth. If all the happy customers wrote reviews it would totally drown out all the complainers on here. I would definitely recommend Spalon!

Extremely unprofessional. I called to schedule my bridal party for an august wedding for makeup and hair. I was assured the weekend was available and received a contract via email. I filled out the contract and didn't hear back for weeks. I followed up twice and finally heard back that there was another bridal party booked that weekend but to rest assured bc they often accommodate more than one bridal party. Over a week later, I followed back up just to find out that they would no longer accommodate me bc they chose to work with the other bride. Extremely disappointed at how this salon handled the situation and am now having a lot of trouble booking hair and makeup for my big day.

Terrible amateurish (non) service in Aug 2012. I wanted to befriend a local salon but after 2 terrible experiences with incompetence in the mani/pedi department I would not trust my hair to them -- even just to wash it let alone cut or color! Beware!

First time they had no hot water for my pedicure. Rather than straight out telling me that so I could reschedule, they said they were taking care of it, and I later learned were fetching pitchers of hot water from across the street. This of course took forever to get hot water into the pedicure tub.
They were so amateurish I would not return (after two tries) for a manicure or pedicure. And because of my bad experiences, I would not let them get near me with a scissors and god forbid hair color!

I went in for a blow out on a Saturday afternoon. I arrived 10 mins early and had to wait a good 15 mins past my appointment time.

The salon looked nice and a bit slow. Over the course of the hour my stylist did a lot of complaining, couldn't seem to find any of her supplies, and literally yelled at a ringing phone to "shut up!"

I have wavy hair and the few blow outs I have had always hold the body and waves really well. With this one, even though she said she put some product in had flattened within an hour. The front looked decent for most of the night, but the back just went limp and frizzy.

I probably won't go back if I am ever back in town.

I've been a client of Jessica's for over 13 years and she always surprises me with her talent and inventiveness. Not only can she cut hair like a wizard but her problem solving skills are genius with hair that's tough to color. I would recommend her and her salon in a heartbeat.

They messed up my hair line really badly and cut a chunk out of the side of my head. They are very amateur.

      First to Review

I was in Hudson temporarily this spring and, at a certain point, needed to get my roots done. I've had some bad, bad experiences with hair color -- some at supposedly great salons in Manhattan -- so I was weirdly nervous to veer from my usual place, but a friend had gone to Spalon and her color had turned out beautiful (and is, I think, a harder color to match than my own; a strawberry blonde rather than my own plain medium brown), and they use Aveda products, which seem great, so I thought, I'll give it a try. Also, it's crazy cheap, compared to New York prices -- $50 for single process. Half of what I pay usually.

I made an appointment with the person suggested by my friend, Natasha, and was reassured to see that she had shiny, glossy, long medium-brown hair -- much like my own. She assured me that it would be no problem to match my color and though I was nervous it would turn out too dark, as often happens with me, she was right -- it was great. Natasha herself is very quiet, which I liked (was happy to sit and read a magazine), and very nice. The salon was very busy -- it was a Friday -- and everyone around me was having something great done: The woman next to me had blond highlights put in, which looked gorgeous (and also a sleek, pretty blow-out). The girl across from me had her long hair turned into a sophisticated layered cut, with bangs, which looked amazing. I'd definitely come back and could definitely recommend it.

My only difficulties: At my normal salon, they do my roots, then put a gloss on the rest of my hair to tone down the brassiness that develops (typical with brunettes). At other salons I've been to they've either done the gloss thing or pulled the color through a bit or just put some demi-permanent color on the rest of my head. I told Natasha that I thought the rest of my hair was getting too light and brassy and she just shrugged and said, "Yeah, that happens." Kind of strange. (But fine, as I'll just go back to my normal salon and fix it.) Also, I have curly hair and she asked if I wanted a blow-out. I said no, as it was very humid and I knew it would be a mess in an hour, and she seemed flummoxed. It turns out she didn't really know how to style curly hair. I left with somewhat frizzy hair that I couldn't wait to rinse and style myself. So I'd say, if you have curls, either let them do a blow-out or go elsewhere. (I was the only curly-haired customer there...)

All in all, a small, sweet, charming place. Good for basic stuff and maybe more (if you have straight hair).
