Q:
Last minute trip to Beverly Hills so we have no reservations. Is it even worth trying to get a seating at the bar for 2 or coming by waiting for a table on a Saturday night? Or would that be a complete waste of time.
A:
Its worth it... The food and drinks are Amazing.

Wow!!! This restaurant takes my breath away. Remember in the movie Ratatouille where he eats something divine and colors swirl in his head and music and its a magical sensation? Well that's what happened to me with every bite of every dish I had here! It truly was a flavor sensation. I am a lover of great food and have had great food all over the world, but this IS my favorite restaurant now and this was the best meal I've ever had!! (I need to save my $$$$ to come here again).
I came in with reservations, half of my foursome was late so we waited for them to arrive to be seated. No big deal, my husband and I had a drink at the bar while we waited. All the staff was incredibly friendly!
Our table was inside near the kitchen area. Loved looking thru the window to see the magic in the kitchen. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. It was all of our first times eating here so the waitress gave a brief explanation of the courses. All four of us decided to order a dish from each section (appetizer, pasta, entree, side). After taking our order, the waitress asked how hungry we were then said we ordered a lot of food. It was quite funny to hear that. So by her suggestion, the two who ordered the same pasta split their pasta and the two who ordered the same appetizer split that. Do we knocked off two dishes. (The waitress wanted us to be able to enjoy out entrees without already being over stuffed. Great thinking.)
I ordered:
*the sweet white corn and crab cake soup. This was one of the best dishes I have ever had! It was brought out with only the crab cake being center in the bowl, then the soup was poured around the crab from a beautiful clear tea pot. Very artistically done.
*fettuccine with porcini mushrooms. The noodles were not typical fettuccine noodles. They were beautiful with scalloped sides like ribbons.
*hubby got the sweet white corn agnolotti pasta. They are small rectangle pasta pockets that were filled with the most flavorful corn mixture! Absolutely amazing!
*entree was the halibut. It was cooked to perfection. Perfectly moist and flakey inside and perfectly crusted on the outside. Hands down the best fish dish of all times!
*the bread selection that is offered is wonderful. There was about 5 different kinds. I had the rosemary country bread and the cranberry walnut. Both delish!
Stunning meal, stunning service. I can't wait to return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cecile D.Los Angeles, CA5794434Apr 25, 20247 check-ins
We had dinner at Spago last night and our server, Conrad made our dining experience fun and extra special.
Thank you so much Conrad for being so awesome and friendly. We will only ask for you from now on when we eat here because you truly know how to be the ultimate in drink suggestions and food and desserts. Your many years at Spagos shows because you're professional and welcoming and friendly.
We started with the signature smoked salmon pizza! It was divine and melted in your mouth with a perfectly crisp crust. All the flavors made you feel like you were enjoying the best lox bagel but elevated to Wolfgang style.
Then we shared the squid ink pasta and the pea agnolotti ... two perfect pastas. They were rich and creamy but felt light and the flavors complemented each other perfectly.
We also had the martini classic lemon crisp and the dirty martini.. icy cold like we enjoy them with the most stem delicate glass... very decco.
Finally for dessert, Conrad suggested the soufflé with strawberries and sorbet combination that was warm and cold and blended beautifully together... excellent desert!!!
We also were given a complementary plate of fresh mini desserts. A gorgeous plate of mouth watering lemon meringue pies, mandelains, chocolate chip cookies. And other sweets.
I also wanted to thank Toby, the lovely manager at Spago. She was so gracious and welcomed us and thanked us for choosing Spago to dine at for my birthday celebration. All the special touches we received last night made our dining experience extra memorable and so for those reasons I'd go back any time of the week to dine and have that feeling again.
It's nice to know that fine dining can still be fun and welcoming and not snooty. Everyone at Spago last night gave us the best service and I truly appreciate it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2024
The ambiance was great and service was not bad but the food was just average for the price.
We ordered pastas and none of them wow us. The waiter did recommend an Alois Kracher dessert wine that was fun to try! I love noble rot wines.
This place is fun for the historical and hype factor and used to be "in" 20 years ago but I wouldn't come back. Out of all the celebrity restaurant empires, I would say this is slightly worse than Nobu.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 22, 20241 check-in
Wow. Where do I begin. My last visit to Spago was excellent and I am happy to report that they haven't lost their touch after lockdown. We visited for my mom's birthday and they treated us well and took good care of our party, as usual.
The food, ambiance, and service is equally excellent.
Literally not one minute goes by without the servers coming by to fold your napkin if you step out, the record being 30 seconds before they noticed and came over to tidy up.
We ordered a variety of dishes: steak, sashimi, Smoked Salmon Pizza (this is what they're known for, off-menu), Austrian Wienerschnitzel (breaded and fried meaty goodness), Sauteed Maine Diver Scallops (flavorful with a good bite), Squid Ink Garganelli Pasta (Al dente), Dark Chocolate Soufflé (rich and heaven in a cup), Kaiserschmarrn (delicious and tastes like sponge cake), Gourmet Handcrafted Chocolate Bon Bons, and various drinks.
The attention to detail is exquisite, their work and efforts go unnoticed. Great place to dine.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Robert V.Los Angeles, CA17845178Apr 22, 2024
The potions are ridiculous small and the service was extremely slow . We've been to every single restaurant in Beverly Hills and this takes the cake as being the worst . You can see all my reviews . I'm very gracious. But I can't . The food is ridiculously small potions and the service was very slow.

We had an absolutely wonderful night at Spago.
Service was very attentive and the food was coming out quick! We enjoyed everything we ate, but the star was the chicken main, which is very unexpected (since it's just chicken, right?).
Special shout out goes to the bartender because both cocktails we got were outstanding!
We'd definitely come again.
Funny mishap happened during our meal, where our sparking water glasses were refilled with still water (which made it taste a little weird). It was just a misunderstanding as we no longer had the sparking water bottle o and our table, but probably something they can improve in their process there.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Shareef V.Los Angeles, CA23516969Mar 19, 2024
Wobbling tables
Large table covers
Low quality drinks
Low quality fish
Overuse of cheese
These were some of the things to overlook when coming to this Wolfgang Puck restaurant.
The Pizza, Pasta, Branzino were all good but subpar at most for the price.
The only thing worth paying for is the service.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Jan 4, 2024
Spago Beverly Hills is such a beautiful restaurant in a prime location. The dining area is beautiful with a fireplace and greenery. It is the definition of a high end and expensive restaurant and Beverly Hills is definitely where it belongs. They even have a wine connoisseur walking around that will recommend wines. The service was great and our server was super knowledgable on the menu and was able to provide us great recommendations.
All the food we ordered was high quality and delicious. We started with the bread box which came with an assortment of breads, butter, and hummus and also the spicy tuna cones. The bread box I probably could have lived without but the tuna cones were amazing and flavor packed even though they were rather small. For my entree, I ordered the risotto which was a "mid portion" sized dish. However, it was the perfect amount for me personally! For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake that came in a big portion and was also amazing.
Honestly, everything about Spago was amazing and it is definitely a good restaurant to go to when you're willing to splurge on a high end restaurant.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 49115106Dec 12, 2023
Food/drink: not bad, not great either. Bread service, which you pay for, was lackluster. Spanish octopus was pretty good. The tuna cones we found to be too sweet. The scallops were a bit dry and over cooked, but overall not terrible. Best item we thought was the dessert, the chocolate soufflé. The cocktails we had were well made.
Service: Found this to be surprisingly underwhelming for this type of restaurant. The service was friendly and cordial, which was nice. We aren't high maintenance diners by any means either but you notice small things that turn you off. Having to constantly ask for a water refill. Having your waitress completely forget an entree order as they hand you the dessert menu, then "split" the one entree they didn't forget, just to charge you a $5 split fee and not take this off the bill at the end for their error. End of the day, who cares, it's $5, but it's the principle of it that is off putting.
Ambiance: this was our favorite part of the meal. There are a host of characters across every generation who dine here. People watching here is entertaining and the environment is overall very nice and festive.
Overall: We don't regret coming to dine here. The food and service fell short of our expectations. However this is a classic institution we are glad we got the chance to experience while it is still around.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 2, 2024
I absolutely loved my dinner at Spago. I ordered the tasting menu, and I can honestly say I enjoyed every single dish on there! The service was beyond amazing-- the waiters regularly checked on our table, and consistently brought out each and every dish promptly. The ambience was very nice during the evening here. Their cocktails were also great--many Los Angeles establishments charge you for cocktails but their drinks taste like mocktails. This was one of the best meals I've had in the area.
