I cant believe I ate the whole thing !!!!
Wow this place is amazing .
It was so good that I remembered at the end to take pictures .
Ordered the biscuit with scrambled egg bacon and cheese and hands down the best biscuit I have had in many years . But the winner over the top was the vegan poppy seed lemon muffin ... must go back again ....Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicyla A.Boston, MA01018Apr 7, 2024
South End Buttery is a cute cafe/restaurant that serves baked goods and breakfast items in the morning, while servicing lunch and dinner items at its later times. The service was as expected, with you putting in your order and waiting for the food to be served. It is definitely picturesque as it's right in the beautiful South End, and offers much of what you would expect it to. I ordered the Salmon Bagel, and as it is my favorite breakfast item, I enjoyed it very much.

Went here for brunch and it was definitely better than I anticipated! I first found out about this place because Brick Street Bagels does their pop up here and even though my friends and I weren't successful in preordering the bagels, lowkey it's a good strategy to come here for brunch and then check to see if they have leftover anyways!! Because they did when we went and we successfully secured the bag!
In terms of the actual restaurant, be advised it's definitely a smaller space in here and they do have a policy that each person over 15 min late will be charged $25 so allot extra time! They also mostly have egg based dishes, so if that's not what you're into, it's a little trickier substituting. I am one of those people and got the breakfast torta with sausage instead, which despite the sausage lacking in flavor and being overpriced, the sandwich was good overall with the bread very crisp on the edges and soft in the middle! I
had asked the waitress, though, if they substituted eggs for free and she said said she'd have to ask and get back to me but never did and I ended up being charged $6 which I didn't love because I otherwise would have chosen differently so just be careful! As for the drinks, I like most sangrias but this one didn't really hit the same and I probably wouldn't order it but I did try my friend's guava mimosa and that was delicious so would recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 7, 2024
Probably my favorite coffee shops in the South end. Love their smoked salmon bagel and their matcha latte. I will say it's a bit on the pricier side, but honestly worth it. Service is always nice and there's always a quaint, peaceful vibe in there. Parking is very limited, as most of the parking around is residential parking, but it's not far from the Silver line, so it's fairly easy to get to.

I really enjoyed visiting South End Buttery. They have really unique seasonal coffee and it is really good. I got the rosemary coffee which was surprisingly really good. It had a tint of rosemary taste which went well with the coffee. The coffee is not too sweet and not too bitter it had just the right amount of sweetness. There is extra syrup that you can add if desired. The inside of the cafe is really cozy and downstairs there is a fire place to enjoy on a cold day. The croissant was really good and it was really puffy and soft in the inside. The breakfast sandwich was really good and filling. The employee there were all really nice and explained to us nicely if we had any questions.

I've heard such good things about this place on social media so I ignored the yelp reviews and went for it. However, I should've heeded the warnings. South End Buttery had a great staff, very sweet and helpful. The food on the other hand...mid at best. The toast for my avocado toast wasn't even toasted...it's an avocado TOAST...? The ricotta toast was pretty good though, I would definitely recommend it. The pricing was slightly ridiculous in my opinion. I paid $11 for the avocado toast. I understand the prices are higher since Boston is a major city but $11 for one slice of untoasted toast and sour avocado is crazy to me. But I digress.
There is limited seating inside but the dining room is clean and the A/C provides much needed relief from the Boston humidity.
TLDR; Decent food and drinks but really overpriced. If you want a really hearty breakfast that's worth the money check out Mike & Patty's...Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 25, 2024
I ordered a cappuccino and a white chocolate latte which came out decently fast. The prices were okay. However, the espresso in my cappuccino was either under extracted or the beans were not great, leading to a sour acrid taste. The white chocolate latte was way too sweet which over powered the coffee. The employees were nice and the restaurant was clean. Brick street bagels shares the other half of the kitchen and the bagels are delicious!!

yeah just not that great. went for brunch and got the turkey burger which was pretty dry and lacking in flavor. supposed to come with avocado but the spread was absolutely lacking. pancakes were nothing special at all. plain tasting saved by syrup... over priced! service pretty slow and the matcha was like 10 dollars

The food is !
The ricotta fritters = 10/10
The buttery breakfast with a side of home fries = 10/10
The Mumbai mule = 10/10
Love the fire place downstairs! It is a smaller space, so things can get a little tight..
It took a little while for my friend and I to get a waiter, and that was a tad bit annoying...
I will most definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
