Received very attentive care from start to finish! Pre admission paper work, education on procedure, labs..very efficient. Admission day communication very good from pre-op, during procedure and Surgeon report excellent. Transfer to private room post op on 2W...staff amazing on all shifts. Hospitalist great.
Room was spacious, only issue was blinds needed dusting but floors and bathroom...spotless.
Was apprehensive to go there based on what we " had heard" but....we were very pleased.
Thank South Baldwin!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dawn H.Huntsville, AL016Sep 23, 2023
Went to this Emergency room because it was late. What a mistake. It cost me almost $2000 for a doctor's visit. Should have used Teledoc. The same service from the comfort of my home would have been less than $10. The doctor came to see me for less than a minute in jeans and I got a separate bill for $400. Lesson learned. Hopefully you can learn my lesson without the financial pain.

#1 son had swelling on his face and feeling lethargic and urgent care saw something suspicious on his chest x-ray so they sent us here to the ERmmediately.
This is my first experience with this hospital, it is closest to our new retirement town and it takes approximately 20-25 minutes by car to get here unless of course the seasonal traffic is heavy. That's a big change for me since, in all the 12 states that I have lived in, I have always been pretty close to an ER. But it is what it is.
The Covid protocols are very strictly enforced here, there's a person asking questions and taking temperatures outside and they give you a mask if you don't have one. They only allow adult patients to enter however I am my son's medical proxy so I accompanied him for the whole process.
The wait didn't look bad at all however the urgent care called ahead and we were taken right away. I worked in ER's for several years both in the Navy and in a civilian trauma center so my critique will be from an insiders prospective.
The receptionists demeanor, efficient and professionalism was very good. We made it through the paperwork and were taken back very quickly. Once inside there was a triage nurse who whisked us into an exam bay, two other nurses quickly hooked Matt up to a monitor and got his vitals while putting in an IV line. They drew blood from the IV, which proved to later be a problem, and the portable x-ray was done within minutes.
A phlebotomist arrived in approximately ten minutes to draw five new tubes of blood commenting that the nurses needed to get up to speed on their, apparently new, IV setups as the original draws had hemolized. That's an unfortunate error because blood sticks are sometimes difficult and of course more unnecessary blood draws are not a good practice for time and for the patient.
Moving on, Dr. Ronnie Sims came in within a half hour of our arrival and assured us that the chest x-ray was just fine and after asking some good questions he just wanted to draw another set of enzymes to make sure that there were no cardiac issue.
The blood draw was taken quickly however the turnaround was an hour, which could have been done in fifteen minutes, but once they got the results we were expeditiously discharged out and we're on our way.
There's no way for me to know if our experience was typical for this ER, since we have nothing to compare it to, but overall they staff did a very nice job.
Bottom line: #1 son is well and this hospital ER does a very nice job!Helpful 45Thanks 0Love this 42Oh no 0 - Carolyn P.Bremen, IN01Apr 14, 2023
This is one of the dirtiest hospitals and emergency rooms I have ever visited. I can't believe they are allowed to operate in such filth.
ER doctor forgot to let the nurse know I was to get a shot. I had to ask for it. When nurse asked him about the shot, he said, my bad. Yes, she is to have a shot!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Casey N.Pensacola, FL03Oct 31, 2023
This place is an absolute nightmare I will never again go to South Baldwin Hospital. They are rude and inconsiderate. Not to mention the dirtiest hospital I've ever seen in my life. There was 4 others in the waiting room and I sat there, Well tried at least for an hour several people came out 3 people got called back all of which were sitting laughing talking, one was asleep. while I'm balling, bleeding, and as everyone's knows your called back in order of severity. When they called me to do my vitals and the nurse was so rude. Which ok whatever but I draw the line when she didn't put on gloves when touching me. There floors were disgusting, blood drops everywhere, bandages, food and roaches just running around. The floors look like they haven't even been cleaned in a very long time much less swept. Not exaggerating at all. Then to tell me it's going to be another 1-2 hours. As I'm bleeding and crying in pain from my surgical site. I got up and told the nurse I'm good I will go were I should have went in the first place and will never be returning again. It was my first time and my last for sure. The only reason I went to the "hospital " was because of how severe I was bleeding, severely dehydrated from not being able to keep anything down since Friday night and knowing that if I needed blood or surgery again I would have to be transported there anyways. So I went to the free standing ER in gulf shores. They were so sweet got me right back and takin care of. Ran blood test did X-rays and were so sweet and sympathetic. Absolutely amazing. So if you live in this area. Please avoid south Baldwin regional medical center in foley at all cost. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING AND UNPROFESSIONAL.

My daughter fractured her arm in a tournament in Foley and this was the closest facility. They were busy but everyone from the admitting clerk to every worker we came in contact with was absolutely amazing. We never felt like they were too busy, we were in and out within 1 hr 45 minutes. Every one explained the plan and also took into consideration we were from out of town and where the nearest pharmacy was. As a fellow healthcare worker it was obvious the ER was packed with patients in the hallways but every single employee greeted us with a smile! Highly recommend this facility

It is no use having protocols for taking care of people if they aren't followed. This must be the filthiest hospital we have ever been to, including those in 3rd world countries. I imagine they have a high mortality rate. Basic care is lacking. Certainly not a leader in taking pride in the care you provide.

My wife was seen in the ER on Monday. I was given a name of another physician for a follow up appointment 3 days later at South Baldwin.
I called to make an appointment and got a prompt to leave a message so I did they said they would call back--- they never did.
I called them the next day and actually made an appointment for 2 days later. The day of the appointment they called me and left a message saying They wanted to do a tele-med appointment and I should call them back, I called them --. Had to leave a message, never heard from them again.
Poor way to run a medical facility.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
