My interactions with Jasmine, and now Adrianna once, have been pleasant. Yes it's hard to get to them if you just drop by, but my calls and emails are always answered within a day, if not by EOB. I liked Jasmine, she was kind and helpful when we moved sight unseen from California. It took a few weeks for maintenance to get to our requests but they were very small and not urgent. The complex is quiet and the neighborhood is great. I do wish you could secure a carport for 2 cars, but alas, the system is fair.
The 2 stars are for these reasons:
- Our mailbox was broken into weeks ago and is still not replaced. We've had to visit the post office every time we need to pick up mail. Super inconvenient but largely not SB's fault. USPS is awful.
- The big issue: noise transfer. Wow it's awful. We live on the top floor and hear everything our neighbors do: the kids run, slam doors, etc. We even hear it next door, albeit not as often. This is the worst noise transfer I've ever experienced. That being said we did tell Jasmine and she offered apologies but certainly made us feel nuts in the process. This is the reason we will likely gladly pay to terminate early. Certainly we won't be recommending this place to anyone.
It's really unfortunate, it's a nice place. Our unit is nicely upgraded and the windows in the breakfast nook are awesome.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Carrie M. thank you for taking the time to leave us your honest feedback. I know that the situation with getting the mailboxes replaced has been inconvenient for all that are involved, and we are happy to see an end in sight.
In regards to the transfer of noise to your unit, I am so sorry to hear that it has gotten so bad. I would be happy to help in any way I can, so please reach out to the office when you have a moment to talk. Hopefully we can come up with a solution so that we can keep you here with us, and if not, I do understand. Please just keep me in the loop on your decision. Thank you again for your review.

Regarding the message received from the "management team". Okay I guess we are going on a first name basis here as opposed to honoring the initials. A deliberate disclosure on your part no doubt. For this reason and as a direct response to your posted reply I am confident we will be able to continue to move forward in written format so as to preserve and record communications for future reference.
So. Let me be clear about this Jasmine:
Regarding your responses:
a) "we were sorry that the National Apartment Association lease and
Oregon laws were not to your taste."
My issue is not with The National Apartment Association lease and Oregon laws: (ORS 90.297 - Prohibition on charging deposit or fee to enter rental agreement; (4) If a rental agreement is not executed due to a failure by the applicant to comply with the agreement to execute, the landlord MAY retain the deposit.)
My issue is with what really seems to have been a conscious personal decision and/or a business practice to not disclose an opportunity to have been refunded for the deposit. During a telephone conversation, after the fact of having paid the non-refundable security deposit it was stated that the security deposit COULD have been refunded IF Rental Insurance had been secured BEFORE paying the deposit.
As I stated in my original post, I did not ask all the right questions. As you are keenly aware the only way to receive the rental agreement is to pay the security deposit. For you to issue an apology for not foreseeing that someone might like to be informed about the opportunity to avoid losing their security deposit if they elect not to move forward with the terms and conditions outlined in the lease agreement seems calculated. I think the majority of applicants would like to be informed and I believe this is foreseeable.
b) "The services that were offered to you were through Updater, and were of course optional. No personal information is ever shared about our prospective, current, or former residents in alignment with Oregon laws."
This is interesting because I do not have the Updater app. With a little research I came across a recent complaint on the BBB.org website whereby an applicant states there was no mention of automatic enrollment Upon Confirmation of Move In Date.
I'll be reviewing all of my correspondences to find where I may have unknowingly issued consent, but since you are being so gracious, perhaps you can point it out for me as it seems to be a contention of pride that all Oregon laws have been adhered to.
I think we have different definitions that candidly at this junction warrant examination in legal terms v. layman terms and further consideration of all applicable state and federal laws. Fact: I received solicitations via my personal email address for the purchase of renter's insurance for my potential new residence. I consider my email address to be personal information as no two email addresses are identical.
The tonality of consistently referring to adherence of applicable laws is unsettling and telling and raises an uneasiness about where my personal information may have further been disclosed by your company.
Thank you.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Robin,
We're sorry to hear you had such a frustrating experience, and that the responses we gave to your questions about these items did not satisfy you. We know that moving from another area can be surprising with the different laws, and we were sorry that the National Apartment Association lease and Oregon laws were not to your taste. We apologize for not being able to foresee all of your questions, and will use this as a learning opportunity for the team.
The services that were offered to you were through Updater, and were of course optional. No personal information is ever shared about our prospective, current, or former residents in alignment with Oregon laws.
We are happy to have been able to assist you with returning the items you asked to be delivered to our office ahead of your arrival. Glad to hear they made it back alright!
We hope you find the perfect home and wish you the best of luck in the future.
-Sorrento Bluff Management TeamDec 11, 2020Previous reviewAvoid These Mistakes
I messed up and it's embarrassing. I was caught up in the idea of finally being able to move out of California and into a seemingly nice complex.
I thought Greystar Property Management and Sorrento Bluff offered what I was looking for.
First: The property manager was always polite, responsive (actually above and beyond) and maintained professionalism.
Second: I presumed the rental agreement would be acceptable based on my conversations with the property manager. Basically, I thought I had asked the right questions and I mistakenly also thought the property manager was completely forthcoming with all relevant information.
Third: After reviewing the lease agreement I was not willing to sign it. I lost my deposit, a lot of time, additional money spent on moving supplies and preparing my vehicle for a long road trip.
Fourth: I was informed the deposit could have been refunded if I would have asked the right question.
Here's how I arrived at a one star rating:
Greystar took the liberty of providing my email address to Assurant Insurance without my permission1. Although I had already purchased renter's insurance I received several solicitation emails.
My unsigned lease agreement for Sorrento Bluff contained these clauses:
1) At the end of the lease a month to month agreement will automatically incur an additional monthly charge of $200.
2) The fee to terminate the lease was 1.5x/rent and NOT Prorated
3) Providing my personal information gave Greystar Property Management the right to disclose my name, email address and phone number to third parties that provide products/services that I might have an interest in.
4) If there is a power outage lasting more than 24 hours, they can remove the contents of my refrigerator/freezer, but what really stood out was that if they were responsible for the outage I had to agree to hold them harmless.
5) If it was determined that a collection agency or similar was required, I would be responsible for paying all fees associated with this determination.
****If I would have secured renter's insurance BEFORE paying the deposit, the deposit COULD HAVE BEEN REFUNDED! This was disclosed after the fact.*** ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: The property address you see posted on the Sorrento Bluff website is for the management office only. BEFORE you purchase renter's insurance and/or open new accounts BE SURE to get your complete address. Simply adding your unit number to the address posted on the website will not be valid.
Additional steps I wish I would have taken:
I almost always check out a company via the Better Business Bureau website, but neglected to do so for Greystar.
The property manager invited me to have items shipped to the office and I accepted the offer. I should have made certain that the seller would pick up the item to be returned. Fortunately, this was the case and the property manager did print the return label and made the pick up appointment with Fedex, but if the seller required the product to be dropped off at a Fedex or UPS location I would have probably lost out. - Mario S.Ventura, CA82602May 20, 2021Updated review
Felt the need to update my review since there's a new property manager and she seems to be more on top of things. Things are already better

Mario,
Thank you for taking a minute to share your experience. We apologize again that the landscapers coming on a different day was so upsetting to you. We have spoken to them about alerting us prior to changing their schedule so we can let the community know to expect the change.
We also apologize again that we are sometimes on the other line assisting other residents when you call, and that you are frustrated by not always being able to reach us immediately. With the office closed to the public we are on the phone with residents much more than we ever have been to ensure we are able to keep connected with our community's needs. We have always, and will always, promptly return your calls at the first possible moment.
We strive to provide a wonderful experience for all of our community here, and are sorry to see we have so far missed the mark with you. If you or Brandon want to reach out to discuss this further, please let us know. We are happy to set aside time for you to guarantee we are available.
We hope to speak to you soon. Have a lovely day and I hope you got to enjoy the snow!

Sorrento Bluff Management TeamJan 11, 2021Previous reviewThis place used to be great when Stacy was managing the property but ever since she left and they brought in this Jasmine person it's been terrible. She NEVER answers the phone, if you need something you have to send her an email or leave her a voicemail which defeats the whole purpose of having a body there in the office. She's not the friendliest either. I know a lot of residents complain about her too including the post office people. Yes for the most part it is a quiet complex except when construction crews come. I would've give this place 5 stars before when it was Stacy running it. Now I give it no more than 2. Will most likely not be renewing my lease.

I love living here. It's nestled in the most quiet little area on top of a little hill. The schools that my kids go to are phenomenal. The pool is beautiful and always clean. The gym and clubhouse are such nice little amenities. The clubhouse is always stocked with coffee and tea, free WiFi, and smiling faces in the office. Stacy is phenomenal in the office and even though Margot just started she is always such a joy. Anytime i have ever needed anything addressed or fixed they have come out as soon as they could to resolve the issue. There is a certain level of noise to expect when living in an apartment and the insulation in my unit is so good that i hardly hear my neighbors above or beside me. I love how dog friendly the community is, all the dog stations are wonderful. I have been at Sorrento for over a year and do not see myself living anywhere else soon.

I lived here for three years, and I only moved because my job required it. Everyone was so nice. Neighbors made it feel like home. Old manager Stacey was very friendly, and new manager Jasmin was so kind and helpful when I had to move out. Really made the whole thing simple. Very responsive, and I had a lot of questions! Maintenance was there anytime I needed help. I miss the view so much. Now I just look at buildings instead of all the trees and grass.

I have been here for two years now. This is a quiet clean and nicely landscaped community. The staff is very friendly and responsive to my needs. Stacy (the manager), Malia, Oscar and Chuck are a solid crew. Stacy has helped me so many times with requests, and resolved a challenging situation with neighbors below me. Thankfully, I no longer have to deal with them anymore. The community is very dog friendly, and Malia always makes my dog and I feel comfortable and welcome whenever we stop by. Malia has been very helpful to me as well -
letting me know that I have packages in the office, as well as answer questions and offering help when needed. Maintenance requests are responded to quickly. Oscar and Chuck are the best - and I'm so glad they are at this complex. Chuck always offers a friendly smile and stops to pat my dog and say hi.
If you want to live in a quiet community with great places to walk - check out Sorrento Bluff. And oh yes, the first Saturday of every month, Sorrento has a small brunch gathering at the clubhouse. It's a great way to meet and get to know neighbors. A lot of people have lived here for many years - that's how great it is. Turnover is low, so if you want to live here, keep checking back for availability.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I was a resident for 16 years and truly found it be an exemplary living experience. Stacy and Malia ran the manager's office in a courteous and professional manner. Ownership always looked for ways to improve the property to maintain its aesthetically pleasing surroundings. Most maintenance requests were completed in a reasonable amount of time. The residents in the complex were respectful of rules that were intended to make everyone feel safe and welcome.

Beautifully landscaped grounds - and there is even a swimming pool here to be used after Memorial Day. But things have changed: the customer service at the front desk is sadly lacking. If a package is delivered for you there, it could stay there indefinitely, as no one will call you to pick up said package. Need maintenance in your apartment? Good luck with that! Your issue will be resolved when the staff has time. Things have changed here over the past few years.....and not in a good way.

I'm in my fifth month of living at Sorrento Bluff Apartments after moving from out of state. I was quite anxious about renting again after 22 years of home ownership and my only regret is that I didn't sell my house sooner. I count my blessings every day that I was able to move into this complex. The management team of Stacy and Margot is amazing and a joy to deal with on the very rare occasion that I have a problem that needs to be addressed - any issues are dealt with immediately. The owners of the complex obviously take pride in their property as everything is beautifully maintained with weekly landscaping and I'm looking forward to seeing everything in bloom in the Spring. There are dog stations throughout the complex to facilitate picking up, big recycling bins and trash bins appropriately situated throughout and they even offer Christmas tree recycling. I've made some wonderful friends in my short time here, partly through bumping into other dog walkers and also through Stacy and Margot, who organize social events at the club house so you get to meet your neighbors. The buildings are well insulated so noise, certainly for me, has never been an issue. The pool and hot tub area is impeccable, as is the gym and clubhouse. The residents are a wonderful mix of ages and cultures, making it a really interesting place to live. The location in the Murrayhill area of Beaverton is perfect with everything you could possibly need in the way of shopping, eating and services close by. No complaints from this happy resident.
