There aren't any Sonics in Baltimore yet and every time I see one while driving, the car must stop! No one in the car was hungry for food, but we did want milkshakes. All milkshakes were buy one get one free, and we had four people in the car so we ordered four milkshakes. It looks like we had missed their happy hour (2pm - 4pm), which makes all drinks and slushes half off, but since the shakes BOGO we were getting the same deal.

We saw an employee come out to deliver drinks to a nearby car on roller skates and were a little disappointed that our server didn't skate out to us. The service was still friendly and even though she forgot the water we ordered, she quickly brought one out to us. The coconut cream pie shake is to die for! So delicious and it has cookie crumbs mixed in and thick whipped cream on top. I sampled the strawberry shake that my sister had (not as good as mine, but then again I am not crazy about fruity milkshakes) and the banana milkshake that my boyfriend had.

We got back onto the highway and a few miles down the road was another Sonic! We were not even finished with the milkshakes we just ordered, but we wanted to pull in and get seconds! We restrained ourselves from overindulging in Sonic milkshakes and made our way home. I hope the people of Dover appreciate the two Sonic locations they have while Baltimore has none!

Good drinks, bad food. Our local sonic in South Dover closed down. After a change of ownership or management, no help for the awful food, so is it Sonic or just the local cooking ability? The North Dover location, near Lowes, is going strong.

Burgers: nicely sized, but the buns are often stale and horrible quality. If you were to go to McD's afterward and compare buns, you will appreciate McD's and their burgers are so mediocre, it amazes me someone can exceed them in mediocrity. But Sonic achieved that.

Food is often cold here--and once or twice, the burger seemed to have been made the day before.

Burrito: There is a breakfast burrito; premade scrambled egg, chopped (probably frozen food), sausage bits, cheese and Tater Tots and jalapenos. The concept is good, but the egg is rubbery. I am certain it is not made fresh. Still, it's filling and relatively cheap.

There is a breakfast croissant type of thing, the bacon is inevitably burned.

Hot Dogs: they have a Chicago Dog (no fluorescent relish, just regular) on a poppyseed roll. And a chili dog. The dog is inevitably cold, the bun is flabby.

      Drinks:

Here's where the Sonic is great. Cherry or Regular Limeade or add in other flavors like watermelon. They throw in lime wedges and maraschino cherries--sometimes. There is a frozen concoction of limeade (Slush) that will freeze your brain. But on a hot day, it's incredible --also comes in lemon.

They also make a mix of soda and soft-serve ice cream that is very sweet and like an old-fashioned float, kinda, but it varies. One day, huge globs of ice cream, other times, it's more soda. It's too sweet for me, but if you like old-fashioned floats, they are fun. Be sure to ask for a spoon, sometimes they forget.

Sometimes, drinks are half price from two pm to four pm, this is a huge discount and if you want a treat in the afternoon, it's very nice.

Tater Tots: They have these as an option instead of fries, and also onion rings. The fries are dry and flabby, the onion rings are the chopped, premade frozen kind (blech) and Tater Tots? What IS the attraction here? I hated them in school and I hate them to this day. But some people love'em. There is or was a sweet potato version but I absolutely refused.

WHY is a Sonic so highly rated? I'm going ahead and taking this review down a notch or two from it's over all rating.

It's fast food, yuck. For a real shake and burger, head down highway 13 (northbound) and find your way to Kirby and Holloways Family Resturant

I just moved to MD and haven't eaten Sonic is quite some time. I was a little disappointed because the menu changed. My burger didn't seem as fresh and the bacon was overcooked. However, I really enjoyed eating there again!

Heading home from the beach Wednesday evening, August 21 about 9:00 PM - saw the sign advertising 1/2 off milkshakes after 8:00 PM - all four of us decided to get one - after placing our order and waiting 15 minutes I looked into the store and saw our milkshakes sitting on a tray - there were 2 or 3 cars in the lot - the employees were talking and kidding around - we waited another 10 minutes and left without our order - wish I could report how the milkshakes were but am unwilling to wait an inordinate amount of time until the employees decide to do their jobs - definitely not fast food!
