I loved my hair color ... but was shocked that after spending nearly $100 for high/lowlights, I was also charged about $30 for "styling". I've never been charged to have my hair dry. Honestly, I would rather go into the bathroom with my hair dryer and dry my own hair. Is this normal? I would like to go back but just can't justify paying that kind of money to have my hair dried.

WARNING!!!
Soluna has a nice look. SOME of the people are friendly. But service is CRAP. I went in with my mom. We got pedicures and manicures to begin with. We got a base color and some glitter. It is very dim in soluna, so you can't see the crappy job they do, until you get out in the light and really start looking.
I decided to also get my eyebrows done and my bangs cut into a full front "swoop" bang.
First I thought the eyebrow job was nice. But it is some poorly lit in there that I didnt realize she didn't get all of the hair waxed.
I got my bangs cut, and Taylor did AWFUL. I wanted to scream, but didn't because I didn't want to hurt her feelings. (She has also messed up my mom's hair )
So after we finished all of that, my mom paid $120 cash, which would have covered the manis, pedis, and my bang cut. But no, they wanted to charge me $5 extra for GLITTER on my nails, and call it nail design. I wasn't paying that so the secretary took that off. She saw that I was frustrated with the stay, let me pay $30 for both of our eyebrows and leave.
Oh no, it doesn't stop there!
I got almost all the way home and she called saying she had charged my card $150. Money that I didn't have! But assured me that she refunded it and the money would go back on that night. I also had to go back to salon so another stylist could attempt to fix my screwed up hair (she did the best she could).
So, here I am, out of money because of Solunas mistake, not happy with my nails because there are gaps between the nail beds and cuticles where they weren't painted properly, not happy with my eyebrows because part of my eyebrows still need to be waxed, and not happy with my hair because it's not what I wanted!
This is my worst nightmare!
Monday the money still wasn't back on my card. Again, this is money I NEED. So I call soluna back. Shelly insisted it should go on that night, if not, call back wednesday. Guess what? It didn't go back on by Wednesday! Wow!!
So I called back, and I just told them I wanted a full refund. I shouldn't have to pay for such POOR quality and bad service!
The owner told me I had good quality work (HAHAHA) and he wasn't giving my money back. He did end up giving me $30 cash. Which I am not happy with. We came to the agreement that if the money wasn't on my card by Thursday (today) that he would just give me cash. He said "I'll do what I have to do to fix it". I called today, and was told no! Instead they wanted to argue that I liked the work, when I didnt! I would not send me worst enemy here. No wonder there are other bad reviews. Good luck Soluna, I'm sticking with Tuscany, they actually know quality!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Brent S.Westminster, SC1153824Jun 28, 2014
Called three times. They hung up on me twice. I made the appointment and saw that they were very expensive for just a cut. Will not be going here. Didn't have a great first impression.

I go to Soluna for a massage and facial. I have had a pedicure (once) and was not that impressed with the experience. Let's just say I have had better. However, Robin is wonderful for a massage & Cynthia does an amazing job on facials. I try to go every 6 months to give myself a little pampering. Very relaxing and professional.

5/17/14: Although it doesn't change my review, I was contacted by Soluna after they saw this review. They offered me a free visit and a free mani/pedi in an effort to entice me to "give them a second chance." Unfortunately, I've already left the area for the time being.

I was in the area for six months. That's at least three haircuts for me. I gave the appointment desk a detailed description of my style preferences as well as my age, color, etc. They recommended a Stylist (Frank) and I made an appointment. I showed him photos, taken specifically to detail my usual style, i.e., from various angles, etc. I was not looking for a make-over.
This Stylist cut my hair three times and I never got the cut/style I requested. Instead I got a chop job all three times - uneven, raggedy, mess. The only good thing I can say is it was never too short - which is a common problem.
I will say he was pleasant enough without being prying. He was neat and clean.
I didn't get a warm vibe from any of the staff here. Not that they were rude - just didn't make me feel like they valued my business. Prices here are high. My haircut with a simple blow-out was $39 each time. With tip that meant I spent close to $50. A lot of money for what I got. - Emily S.Central, SC01May 21, 2015
Would not recommend if you have curly hair!
I have very thick and curly hair so finding a place that can cut my hair is always a struggle. Soluna was no exception. She clearly knew how to cut hair but did not listen to anything that I wanted. I left with the problem worse then when I started and my hair inches shorter than I wanted.
In addition I felt that they were just there for the money. She didn't try to talk to me except to try to sell me products. Her assistant was fantastic but I didn't enjoy being shuffled between people. It had a very factory like feel that I did not enjoy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Denice K.Salem, SC06Dec 9, 2016
Soluna is under new management although the owners still work there. They have changed the name and now will honor gift cards purchased before 2015 at just 50%. These should have been a liability on the books of the salon when sold or transferred. Also, the salon should have made an effort to alert past patrons that this would be the case. Dishonest.

I was on a road trip and needed a haircut. I knew of this salon from years ago visiting my mom, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I got in right away as a walk in because the ladies at the reception desk worked together to find me a stylist who was available. Courtney was awesome and gave me a fab cut that met all my needs. This is a Redken salon with Redken products. I ended up buying more goo for my short hair. It was a very nice experience, and would certainly return if the need arose while I was in the area.

I arrived 45 minutes early for my hair appointment. I knew I was extremely early and made a point to say I was perfectly content to wait and relax for a while before my apt. time. The hair stylist called me back there 30 minutes before my scheduled time. She had squeezed me in the middle of another customer's appointment! While her current customer was letting her color soak in, she rushed to do my hair in about 20 minutes! (my hair usually takes 1 hour). She was noticeably rushing the whole time. She was hurting my head by yanking at my hair with the brush, and when I told her that she was hurting me, she blamed me that it was my fault for not using conditioner! I assured her that I always use conditioner and my hair is never tangled! My request for my hair was so simple- I told her I wanted long layers in the back, and she acted like she didn't understand what I meant?? She finished my hair, rushed me out, and then grabbed her other customer to finish with her hair. I was so shocked at what had just happened! The whole thing felt like a nightmare. I was there and done before I even had time to think about what was happening. To feel that I got cheated because I showed up early to an appointment (HAHA oh my bad- Laughable right??)!!! I told the receptionist as I was leaving that I could tell the stylist was rushing because she had another customer waiting, I said I definitely would have preferred to wait until my scheduled time so that she could have taken her time with me! When you go to a salon, the ONE thing you expect is to feel relaxed and pampered, with the proper attention given and satisfied with the job afterward! Maybe because it was towards the end of the day, she wanted to squeeze me in so she didn't have to stay later, but I would hope that you would never treat a customer that way just to leave early! t am disappointed because I had actually been going to Soluna for over a year! But definitely no longer- after that very disappointing and unprofessional service. The stylist could have easily finished with her customer and taken her time with me (at my scheduled apt. time) and done the job right... and I would still be going back there! Sad for them that they are losing a customer over simple customer service that could have been easily done right. What a shame, they really blew it. Good luck to them.
