Soho Japanese Bistro

Soho tends to be our son's choice of restaurants for his annual birthday dinner. We were seated promptly at our reservation time for an early dinner. Service was fast and friendly. Food was prepared swiftly and as ordered. The food was tasty as well. Despite this location having many negative reviews on Yelp we've never had a bad experience there...

Highly disappointed in the service and experience. I made a reservation for hibachi for my daughter's birthday. There were 10 of us. We didn't it get seated until nearly 7pm but our reservation was for 630. We then were not greeted for another 15 minutes. No drink order. Nothing. They all knew it was a special occasion as I told them and we brought in a cake.

The cook came and cooked and entire meal for the table opposite us before we got anything.

Once the cook started he never warned us about the fire. My daughter was so excited for it and missed it and I missed taking a picture as he never greeted us. But we heard him tell the other table 'here it comes'.

The Miso soup was bland. The salad was WET with water.

Most of our party got hibachi but three of the ordered offf the menu. The cook has finished making our entire meal before the other guests were served. I had to get up twice to go check in their food because it felt so rude to be eating in front of them fo so long.

The other cooks sang happy birthday but our cook barely spoke. He tried to make her a balloon animal and it popped so her gave us and didn't try again. It was soo weird.

For the amount we spent I was extremely disappointed in the service. It was supposed to be special. It was not.

Honestly it's pethetic how when a person calls ahead 24 hours before for a reservation for a wonderful date night out, upon arrival we let them know we are here 5 min before 830pm. The asked if we had a reservation (keep in mind it's packed) and I said yes. They then PROCEEDED to tell us we have to wait 45 effing minutes. THEN WHEN PEOPLE CANCELLED the proceeded to seat walk-ins. The management is awful.

This is the funny part.... We then got our name called twice and they proceeded to try and sit us at the grill when our reservations were for dine in table. And the host proceeded to get agitated and walked us around the whole establishment just to have us sit back in the waiting area.

Food was mediocre At best. Honestly McDonald's would have been a quicker and better choice... THE MOST saddening part is I used to come every other weekend with my family and they will no longer happen.. and honestly nothing was done to make up FOR THEIR mistakes on a valentines date night.

Very dirty. Food is underrated. Service is okay. The dirty part has made it so we won't return. It's not every day dirt, it's obviously not cleaned much one star only because it won't allow me to post without clicking one.

Came in for a reservation for 4 people for 630. Walked in the door and the place was completely packed with people waiting for the single hostess to deal with all types of issues and complaints from customers. Ended up not getting served until 30 mins later we got to sit down. Terrible service and food really lost its touch will not be returning.

Good food, good atmosphere and amazing service. From the waitress to the chef and everybody else in between. Will visit again sooner then I think.

Mediocre at best. I've been here 3 times and ordered take out. Vegetable roll doesn't even have avocado AND cucumber. Plus some of their rolls are like $20 for just 6 pieces. Better sushi elsewhere

This is a very wonderful Japanese hibachi restaurant ton of us went there last night for my daughters birthday. They went out of their way to make sure it was a special experience for her. The chicken steak, shrimp and scallop hibachi special was wonderful. The show was good. Kim and I had the sashimi for two and it was wonderful very fresh highly recommend coming here.

We did the hibachi-type experience with friends & the atmosphere was really fun! The service was great and very entertaining. Food was decent but over priced. I would go back again based off my experience!

I personally love this restaurant, but there are definitely things they need to work on. In the past, we have had some pretty bad servers at this place and we have done the Hibachi grill and off the menu. For some reason, it seems like you get worse service when doing the grill. Today we did off the menu and had a very nice server, but she had no name tag, so I can't recognize her. Dark hair to maybe past shoulders, really cute and great disposition. I ordered the vegetable fried rice and my husband ordered the beef and shrimp fried rice and he also got the yodun noodles and I know I misspelled that. Soho has the best fried rice of any I have ever had. The noodles are also amazing and the way you know you've received great Japanese food is that when you reheat it later and it still tastes amazing. I also love their yum yum sauce. I could swim in it. ;) Anyway, the prices are somewhat overpriced, but considering the area Soho is located in (Granger) it's pretty much expected. I've been to Soho quite a bit and I have never seen the place super busy. I can only assume that it's waitstaff and pricing keeping a lot of people away because it cannot be the food. I also love that when you sit in main dining and look up, it looks like you are under the stars. It's fiber optic and it's just so comforting and relaxing. Whoever decorated that restaurant did an outstanding job! I just love the way Soho looks inside. There's a small but classy bar off to the side and it's a very clean restaurant. I would say just work on getting more servers that are attentive and I'd say lower the prices, but that's not going to happen. Lol. Our bill with a 10 dollar tip was 63 dollars. We were there at lunchtime and they don't have a lunch menu that offers smaller portions for a smaller cost. And if they do, I've never seen evidence of that. If you haven't been here yet, give it a chance. You may just love it!
