Smug's Pizza

Nice lil hole in the wall pizza shop. Place is more of a grab and go spot since seating is non-existent. Shop might be small but pizza is phenomenal. This is the type of place where you know everything is good. Employees are always kind and laidback, never any issues. Smugs is definitely worth a try if you're hanging in Arcata.

I don't understand how such an old-school place like Smug's, in its memorably tiny location, doesn't have more reviews on Yelp.
It's basically a tradition to grab a slice at Smug's for hungry college students or alumni.
It still offers good value and taste for the price, and IMO should be as well-known and regarded as Blondie's was at Cal Berkeley. Not earth-shattering, but a staple of Arcata visits for my family.

Great little hole in the wall place (when you go, you'll chuckle at my delightful humor).
Stopped in to grab pizza as we came into town shortly before they closed.
We ordered a delicious classic pie and a couple of slices of chicken ranch, I believe.
This isn't where you go if you're looking for fancy, in-house dining. But if you and your boo are hungry and want to grab a quick bite to take home to watch Netflix and snuggle, this is a great option.

Scenario: You're back in your college town for a visit but you only have 48 hours to hit all your favorite spots.

Smugs is definitely on that list! Super hole in the wall, literally. As a college student, I loved being able to just grab a slice instead of having to order the whole pie and it's perfect walking distance from school, the square, all the good spots. The crust is really the highlight of the slice--nice and chewy and puffy, with the right amount of garlic flavor!

The pizza is always fresh and hot as well as delicious. Service is very efficient. The counter is kept clean.

Bare minimum interior with poor seating . So best order to go. Huge pie with fresh toppings. Crust is soft rather than crisp but delicious. About 20 minutes from order to eating. We ordered the "omnivore " lots of white meat chicken, bell peppers, green onions and mushrooms.

so delicious and the service is fantastic! if you're getting just a slice or two I highly recommend! if you want higher end tasting Dominios pizza, this is place!

Tried to eat here but the restaurant still wasn't open despite signage saying I was indeed there during "open" hours. Only had a little bit of time for lunch and I walked here, so now I'm out of options.

I was staying over in Eureka, and when I was looking for a place for pick-up, Smug's came up. However, the one closest to us closed early and this location stayed open late. Though it was only 8 miles away, I thought what the heck. Called it in while I was driving over. Friendly greeting from the two workers!

The dough was crispy on the outside, doughy on the inside. We had chicken, sundried tomatoes, and spinach. A perfect light combination since it was late. Saved two slices for the next day's road travel and they made the perfect lunch!

I would come back if I was in the area!

Website says $14 for a pie and they didn't correct over the phone only to get charged 19.50 when I pick it up. They admit they knew about it but it's not been corrected...convenient
