I have ordered delivery from these guys twice now via Uber, and the experience has been awesome both times. Order correct, timely and delicious!
I get the 1 meat 2 sides: brisket, potato pie and collards. I ask for spicy bbq sauce and the brisket chopped, which they do perfectly.
Only thing I did not like was 'southern coleslaw...' in the South, Cole slaw is either mayonnaise based (preferably very finely shredded) or North Carolina style, which is a hot pepper based vinegar sauce. This was neither. So just order another of their excellent sides instead!! (Pro tip: get a double side of potato pie!)
I'm a bbq snob from the South... as in, I've planned entire variations on bbq trails. Bravo Boatyard!!Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 4Oh no 0 - Mark W.Waterbury, CT0264Apr 18, 2024
Good evening ladies and gentlemen! Say, what do you do when you are in a 12-hour work shift and you need dinner? You get food of course! Now, I happened to be that guy working a 12-hour shift, and I was craving barbecue today. So out on UberEats and drawn from a list of options, I chose this place and messed around with my order a bit so that I would have a good meal. That meal was pulled pork, brisket, Cole slaw for the side, and then I also had cornbread and an order of garlic bread with Gorgonzola dipping sauce (the other choice was Marinara).
Honestly, I wish ALL places that paired orders with Marinara had a Gorgonzola option! Pairing that cheese dip with garlic bread for $6? Worth every penny! Seriously, whoever thought of this must have walked up to God Himself and asked for His food preferences because THAT was heavenly! The cornbread was great as well and quite moist and sweet.
The Cole slaw was next. If that was a "Southern Cole Slaw", then I'm King Kong wearing a red cowboy hat! That ain't taste like no true Southern Cole slaw I ever had. It was more like Coh Naw! The most distinct taste you get from it is the vinegar. If you're gonna make me a Cole slaw and call it southern, put some mayonnaise in there gosh darn it!
So it was up to the meats to decide how this would end. Thankfully, both were really tasty, and the BBQ sauce used was really good! All-in-all, a very satisfying meal!
One thing I will say is that if you are going to get this, do NOT do what I did and use Uber! The food itself was $37 on the bill, but my order actually cost me $57. That's right! $57 on UberEats!
So if I ever get a chance to have this again, I will just visit the restaurant in person next time. What I got was worth the original bill, so $37 for this is fine. But I ain't paying no $57 for one person again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Natalie A.Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico1222Nov 20, 2023
It was really good. Recommend the beef rib, it looked like a tomahawk and the baby back ribs. Also love the corn bread and the bbq beans

Just got a cheesesteak with sweet potato fries delivered to the office. The entire thing was a cold soggy mess, improperly cooked and delivered by people who really couldn't care less about their customers. If there's one place I would recommend never ordering from, it's The Boatyard at Smokey Joe's.

My husband and I eat here about once a month by or so for a casual date night or family dinner out. We love the BbQ smoky flavors whether the ribs, chicken, pulled pork or brisket and they are all also terrific as served on Portuguese rolls as a sandwich with fries. The service is always prompt and attentive, aiming for total satisfaction and all the flavors you could want. The sides are authentic BbQ as well, whether the baked beans, corn bread or coleslaw (if you like it made this way) and plenty to choose from. Our evening topper off is always the amazing warm red velvet cake with vanilla ice cream. It's worth eating less for dinner save room for that dessert! Overall, we love Smoky Joe's at the Boatyard and will continue to come often!

I ordered take out and my chicken wings were so basic I had to air fry them and add seasoning when I got home. The cornbread had good flavor but was drier than a Popeyes biscuit. Not spending my money here again.

The delivery guy from Uber Christopher was so sweet and even had on a suit. I like friendly delivery service it makes the food yummier. I ordered for the hubby, I only wish now I ordered for myself bc the beans are absolutely delicious!! I'm not much of a meat eater but I had to taste it and it was finger lickin yummy yum yum as well as the cornbread.

Stopped in last night for the first time, pretty cool atmosphere, I would say that the food was awesome, but portions were a little small, we both had sandwiches, maybe dinners are more plentiful. If I am in the area again I may return.
