I loooooove my massage therapist. (I won't tell you the name because he's already reallY busy and it's sometimes hard to get an appt if I don't book my next as soon as I leave my previous)
I'm a hairdresser so I do a lot of repetitive movements and my posture is a mess.... I go in, he beats me up a little bit (but it hurts so good) and I feel everything else release .... he remembers his clients and what ongoing issues they have and what contributes to it, I know he really cares about his job because he treats his clientele the same way I treat mine (and I adore and am very invested in my clients)
I get a Deep Tissue Massage with him once a month and I hadn't been there in awhile (you reschedule/cancel an appt and then 8 months just gets away from you) but he still knew what to work on when I came in today.
I got referred to him by a friend who also sees him often and I have some friends who go to other masseuses at their other locations regularly and always love the experience.
I have a 6 package of massages that I pre paid for and it's a stupid good deal especially for the quality of the massage.
Thank you!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

As I start learning more about how to take care of your face, chemical peels is slowly becoming integrated into my normal routine.
Of course, normal routine is really either monthly or bi-monthly and peels tend to be weaker at spas as I learned.
This leads me to have to search out stronger chemical peels.
But if you just want a maintenance peel, spas are the way to go.
With that being said, the lobby at this Skin Spa location smells delightful. The customer service especially the guy that wears a fedora was cordial and upbeat.
The price depends whether you purchase a deal, use a deal from another site or just Yelp discount it.
Either way it is still cheaper than most places.
I had the Asian lady who looks to be Filipina who was cordial throughout the spa session.
I had a choice of microdermabrasion, glycolic or lactic acid peel.
As a general rule of thumb lactic acid is weaker than glycolic but strength has nothing to do with the acid itself and more with the percentage of said acid that is applied to your face.
Keep that in mind when you go to these spa places. As mentioned to me, the percentage of either acid tops at 33 percent which is rather light. It was so light that my skin didn't even peel.
I have 2 more sessions left and I will update after that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 18, 2019
So I'm finally getting around to reviewing Skin Spa after getting a few treatments here. I've gotten facials and microdermabrasion here from Simone and I've been very satisfied that I just continue purchasing packages here. Facials are done thoroughly and I'm always left with great results a few days after my treatment. The Spa itself isn't super luxurious or anything but the staff is nice, rooms are clean, and prices are reasonable. I'll keep coming back for my skin care needs for those reasons!

Chelsea gives the best facial ever in all of skin spa locations! I've been going to skin spa for a year now and have tried different facials/chemical peels and aesthetician and still goes back to Chelsea everytime. I usually go for the custom facial and she gives the most thorough facial and end with hi-frequency facial. I recommend everyone to look for Chelsea!

I just became a member and was thinking of cancelling my membership after trying the new UWS location. The staff there was super cold and seemed just to be showing up to their job and getting through the day. Perhaps they are working out the kinks there during this crazy time...
Regardless this place was the complete opposite of the UWS. The receptionist was so friendly and knowledgeable and the massage with LiWei was incredible! She was so good and friendly!

Another excellent find via Yelp! Had time to kill in the Garment District and decided to stop by. The atmosphere is immaculate and upscale, and the staff was so kind to accommodate me as a walk-in. I used the new client special and got my first Brazilian wax for $35, which as most women can attest, is a GREAT value.
For the wax itself, I opted for hard wax (as I always do), but I appreciated that they give you a choice between that or strip wax since many places do not. While there's no such thing a pain-free bikini wax, this was super bearable compared to others I've had, and the aesthetician was a total sweetheart. I was very satisfied with the result.
They also offer packages and memberships that seem like a good value, but I opted out since I don't live in the neighborhood and prefer the convenience of Uni K on the UES. Next time, I'll probably try to use the Yelp Deal they have available right on this page.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katie J.Shelbyville, IN2653Sep 23, 2018
I booked a 50 minute custom facial with a peel for 10am, the start of their business day on Sundays. They're located on the second floor. Unfortunately, I hadn't adjusted to NYC traffic yet and was 10 minutes late. Skin Spa called me as I was walking up, leaving a message to make sure I was on my way. I appreciate their follow up with their clients.
Because I was 10 minutes late, my esthetician let me know she had to cut my 50 minute facial down to just the peel portion (about 20-30 minutes) or I could reschedule. She explained that they had another client schedule for right after me. I appreciated her being upfront about their schedule as it was my fault for running late.
The spa was very well put together, clean and tidy. When I went into my treatment room, my esthetician offered me a robe, which was nice even though I was just getting a peel. She allowed sufficient time for me to put my hair into the hair net and returned. She explained the peel that we were using (glycolic) and explained that this was best for the acne that was along my jaw and chin. She was gentle in her touch and took care to ask if there was any unpleasant sensation during the peel, which was nice. She explained that the peel needed to set for 5 minutes and she left the room, turning on the spa-like music before she left.
After 5 minutes she returned, removed the mask and checked my skin. She proceeded with a "mini-facial" (steam, cleansing, toning, serum, moisturizer, SPF, etc) and I was surprised to not that she did my rush through the process. It was still calming and relaxing.
After all products were removed, the esthetician explained after care steps, best products to use until the next peel and asked if there was anything else she could do. My service cost $66 (before gratuity) and it was the full 30 minutes. Given that I was late 10 minutes, I appreciated their thoroughness.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sammie R.New York, NY50211Jul 21, 2018
Just finished my session with Simone, and it was amazing. She was very attentive to my skin needs, and very gentle. Her calm demeanor makes the session sooo relaxing.

Mixed feelings.
I bought a Groupon for a spray tan. I was going on vacation in a tropical place and wanted to glow in a better way without UV tanning. Saw that Skin Spa had great reviews and the price was right.
First, make sure you book your apt with the right location. The booking was confusing from Groupon and I wound up showing up to the wrong location.
Second, this place only takes cash tips. My specialist was nice enough to take a check cause I couldn't get cash in time.
Lastly, the part that brought my rating down to a 3- I walked out of there looking like an Oompa Loompa. This was partially my fault as I asked for another light layer. However, the reason I asked for more was cause I could barely tell what I looked like. The room had ZERO natural light and being practically naked I didn't want to have someone walk by when the door was open to let natural light in... I really wish my specialist had spoken up about how it would look outside of the room I was in. I left completely embarrassed. I had to walk a few blocks to the subway and then get myself home. Let's just say people were polite, but they were staring and not for the right reasons. I even had a child walk by and tell her Mother how orange I was. Needless to say, I washed it off when I got home.
I recommend to give this place a shot as they were professional and the facility was clean. They even had disposable underwear and hair caps for you! The specialist took her time walking me through the steps since this was my first time, but instead of the specialists telling me that I looked "naturally tan", I wish someone spoke up and told me how I really looked... They even tried to make me feel better by telling me it would look softer after I washed it off- even though when I started, they told me it would be darker after it set in... So confusing.
Beauty blunder = Lesson learned.
Proceed with caution knowing what I now know.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
