My dad's been lunching here for probably over 20 years. Great food, wonderful service. He took us here for dinner during a recent visit and we were thrilled to have a local place to get such wonderful food. I think we talked about the pickles for days afterward. I loved the brisket and gravy over potato pancake. The homemade soups taste like they kidnapped someone's grandma and held her hostage in the kitchen to make them. My dad's always talked about this place being a favorite.
Siegelman's closed today :(
What a very sad loss.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kyle B.Chicago, IL27417615Mar 22, 2010
Siegelman's Restaurant is a diamond in the rough. You will never find a finer dining experience closer to all of your hardware needs. Found in a lot adjacent to mom and pop hardware supplier Lowes, this restaurant has the look and feel of a finely furnished basement from the 70's.
Locals claim it to have the best corned beef sandwich in the suburbs and the potato cakes left me satisfied for days. That's more than I can say about the ol' ball and chain. ZING!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Alan N.Honolulu, HI575May 21, 2009
OK Deli.
Chicken broth tastes canned and they don't know from Mish Mosh but I would have to agree with others that it is probably the best in the Burbs' but it isn't in the same class as Manny's. The Corned Beef is somewhat tough and has less flavor. This tastes like it was sliced and heated rather than cooked in-house and hot from the steam table.
That being said I might be tempted to eat here again to try some of the specials.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jon J.Chicago, IL1434411May 1, 2007
Siegelman's is frozen in time. It takes you back to some undefinable point in history, maybe the mid 70's, when the Jewish deli was the "family restaurant" of choice, before Applebees and TGI Fridays took over the scene.
They've got vinyl booths, friendly waitresses, no free refills of soda - but free pickles.
Come for the amazingly huge corned beef and pastrami combo, that's paired with a huge bowl of soup for only $6.75. Enough to feed you for two days. They've also got classic diner comfort food like Chicken Parmesan, Fried Shrimp, and BLT sandwiches.
They don't make them like this anymore, folks. Enjoy it while it's still around!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Kevin S.Schaumburg, IL1223212May 19, 2010
This place is alright. The corned beef sandwich tastes fine but is nothing special. The rye bread is good though.
The potato pancakes are way too greasy, yet I order them anyway..
Whenever I stop by Siegelman's, it's always empty, which is worrisome at times. Plus, I sometimes question whether the corned beef is all that fresh, or if it had been sitting out for awhile and just reheated.
I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here, but if you're in the area and want some deli/diner food give this place a shot. I'd be surprised if there weren't better deli places in the area though.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jay B.Chicago, IL151124198Feb 18, 2009

Wonderful. One of the best deli's in the northwest burbs. Fast and helpful service. Worth the trip.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John M.Streamwood, IL4824Mar 17, 2010
The food was pretty good. As previously noted in other reviews, the meats are not overly flavorful. It certainly isn't bad, but just not a flavorful as one might expect. As we sat there eating I think I saw why. We were probably the youngest ones in the restaurant. Aside from us the average age was probably about 60'ish.
I had a Reuben sandwich and my wife had the turkey dinner. We were both happy with the food and the sandwiches are large. My wife thought the turkey was excellent. I particularly like that they give you what seem to be home-made pickles to munch on while waiting for your food.
We will be going back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathleen P.Arlington Heights, IL1982121Mar 7, 2011Updated review
I'm sorry to learn that Siegelman's has closed their doors. They will be missed.

It's a family owned cozy little place, and they do have a full bar, so if you like a little libation with your sandwich, you're set. The coleslaw is wonderful, along with the complimentary pickles and unbelievably fresh rye bread. The home made french fries are tasty & crisp. The soups are great. I've seen other diners eating some dishes that looked really good, but every time I go I just gots to have that corned beef !

Another former New Yorker (and big fan of Manny's Deli in Chicago), this place has the best pastrami and corned beef in the suburbs and it rivals Manny's. Great service and staff.
