This is my FAVORITE Chinese place! It's only just 5 minutes from my work which is how I found them. I love that they have a lot of tofu dishes. The general tso's tofu is my go-to and it's so affordable. The lunch special is only $5 and you get to choose between a soda or an egg roll on the side. It's definitely a pretty hefty portion for a lunch! The dinner special version is only $2 more and enough for two meals! I've tried lots of general tsos tofu in the area and this is by far my favorite. I'm pretty sure they fry their tofu so it has a nice crispy texture to it and they're very generous with sauce.

This is my go to chinese food place. Have been order from here for years. Some of our favorite dishes are bbq spare ribs, sweet and sour pork, teriyaki chicken, fried dumplings, sweet biscuits, and chicken wings. The breaded are just as good as the hot wings. If you like hot and I mean spicy wings, this place is great.
When I'm sick I get the won ton soup always does the trick. They deliver so that is a huge plus. Great prices especially when you can catch them for lunch specials!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Maria D.North Tonawanda, NY014Jan 14, 2020
Just ordered vegetable lo mein , vegetable mei fun and crab Rangoon from here. Got home to eat it and not only does the mei fun have chicken in it but the lo mein had gnats in it. Pic included.
It tasted fine until I noticed the fliesHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Anthony S.Buffalo, NY0376Aug 10, 2019
This is the best Chinese take out i've had in a while. Many of these places are a dime-a-dozen, each dish practically indistinguishable from those of their innumerable competitors. But Shanghai raises the bar to another level, and their homemade steamed dumplings are the best in the city. And if you happen to order an item that isn't made with baby corns, and you have a thing for baby corns like i do, they don't mind this special request. Also, and perhaps most importantly, they are extremely consistent, which is something you can't say about most take-out places whether they be Chinese, pizza, BBQ, whatever. Fans of Naked Gun 2 1/2 will fondly remember that when Lt. Frank Dreben was asked if he gambled, he famously replied, "Every time I order out." Well you can take it from this experienced fast food aficionado: Shanghai is the best bet in town.
Shanghai also has a complete American menu with pizza, wings, subs, etc. and i have to admit i'm very curious. It goes against every instinct i have as a connoisseur of fine foods, sort of like that feeling you get when you're on the edge of a tall building and have the urge to jump. i mean, as a general rule, you don't order pierogi in a Mexican restaurant, you know what i mean? Remember McDonald's McRib or chicken parmesan sandwich w/marinara sauce? Both absolutely grotesque, not to mention an insult to Blacks and Italians. But i do have the strange feeling i'll be critiquing a Shanghai steak & cheese sub sometime in the very near future. i can hardly resist the impulse. Leave it to the Chinese to devise such a brilliantly mind-bending form of psychological warfare. Touche Fu Manchu! You win again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian S.Buffalo, NY489486Oct 5, 2019

This place is a favorite take out spot for friends of mine. We got delivery and 45 mins later our dinner arrived. We both ordered dinner specials of general Tso's tofu and sesame chicken, both with vegetable fried rice.
My dinner was made exactly how I requested, which is always a relief when you have dietary restrictions. The tofu was crispy and firm without being overcooked or rubbery. The general Tso's sauce was sweet, syrupy and perfectly coated the tofu. I would've preferred it spicier but it was tasty nonetheless. The rice and tofu were not swimming in sauce in the takeout container, no fear of leaks or soggy food here! The vegetable fried rice was good, it's made with yellow rice, onions, carrots and peas. I had a couple hunks of broccoli in my dish too. My meal came with vegetable soup which was okay, the broth was very salty but vegetables were fresh.
My friend loved her dinner special too. She had eggdrop soup instead and said it was awesome. I know we will definitely be ordering another meal here soon!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mark S.San Jose, CA852Jan 24, 2017
This place gets 5 stars cuz they have the best general tso chicken and crab rangoon in the NT area.

My order was incorrect and I found flies in one of the containers. I was offered to have my order remade but it wasn't worth the drive.

I'm very lucky that this place delivers--a lot of places, the only food that delivers is pizza.
Very good ribs. Decent egg fu yung although the gravy isn't right at all. Decent sweet and sour chicken. As to the problem items--general tso's is three good pieces IF you're lucky. The rest are small and HARD, and many are just batter with no chicken in them at all. They need to order the chicken pieces from another distributor--and the same are used in the orange chicken, sesame chicken, and lemon chicken, which means you can't order any of those items. Same chicken pieces covered in different sauces. Your distributor sucks.
And no black pepper chicken to be had in most of WNY, this place included. This is a common menu item at all chinese restaurants until you get to WNY. That boggles the mind. I just came from State College PA, home of the best chinese buffet anywhere on earth, including the country of china itself: College Buffet. Please, for the love of God, send a scout out there so you can learn how to do it right.
Tonawanda has no chinese buffet at all--didn't think there was a town in the US that didn't have a chinese buffet. We desperately need a buffet, and one with black pepper chicken.
Shanghai--this place isn't bad, but it's like they don't even try. You can't save money with a distributor like the one you have because it costs you money in the end. Several items on their menu I can't even order--I end up throwing them away.
Pts earned for delivery and for the ribs, and for the very nice, courteous people who work there.
Pts lost for missing a common menu item, the gravy on the egg fu that just isn't right, no buffet, and those little hard chicken pieces that mean I can't even order my favorite chinese food at this restaurant. Discouraging.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
