I've gotten 5 tattoos at Shamrock and I'm very happy with all of them. If you want quality single needle black and grey then Shamrock is the place to go. The vibe at the new location is great, it's big and everyone is friendly and happy to be there. There's a bar, espresso, sofas for lounging and even a barber downstairs. They're still in the process of getting the new shop finished and when it's done it will be amazing! I'm looking forward to my next round of tattoos and I wouldn't go anywhere else

Believe it or not this was one of few times I did NOT consult yelp before making an appointment. I went based on personal research (and lots and lots of thinking) before getting my 2nd ever tattoo.
However, now looking at some of these 'bad' reviews, I'm laughing because it's kind of ludicrous what's being called out. This is a well-known, famous tattoo shop so they have a right to charge more than others. And if you're not getting a good vibe from your artist but still decide to proceed with the tattoo, that's on you.
I lucked out and was able to get in with East sooner than I thought due to a cancellation last week so I snatched that appt up. Called and Cody, his assistant was nice and surprisingly candid with what he could do schedule-wise. Not only that, but day of, when I found out they charge extra for using a credit card, I called to see if I could come a little late so I could run to the ATM and they were totally cool with it. AND didn't rush me throughout the entire process, even though this made me 15min late.
That afternoon I showed up alone and a little intimidated in light of how small the tattoo I wanted to get was compared to what they're probably used to...but all that was eased as soon as I got there. Cody and East were chill, professional, straightforward. Probably the best words I can think of. My desired tattoo was just two words, but very meaningful to me, and have thought about this for many years. I came in confident I wanted them on my lower bicep but East immediately suggested under my forearm, saying that's how words turn out/look the best. I was taken aback at first as I had not thought about that placement at all, but it ended up working out exactly how I wanted...not once did I feel he was pressuring me, merely offering me his opinion, and with zero condescension. He was so patient, saw I was thinking about it hard, and said how about this, he would go and sketch it out while I thought about it. I loved that I wasn't rushed, and that there was never an 'I told you so,' vibe when I finally agreed.
The entire process was utterly professional. Again wasn't sure what I expected but it was such a nice balance: I felt welcomed but there was privacy as I was going through the process. Minimal small talk from East, but I loved how focused he was on getting the tattoo right even if it's something so simple. Had me check the words, reminded me to look at spelling. Then he placed and re-placed the stencil several times to get it right in his eyes...the way he made me stand naturally and angled it ever so, while he narrowed down the exact placement, was so technically precise. I was impressed. As for the actual process, it went smoothly and corny as it might have been, East happily obliged to a photo together at my request (I've been such a fan of his), even helped take the selfie, before turning me completely over to Cody to receive aftercare instructions and settle up with payment. Yes, it was not the cheapest (including the $15 on-site parking) but worth every penny in terms of experience and results. And, if you're coming here, you know what you're paying for.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - S P.Los Angeles, CA06Jun 24, 2023
Mark Mahoney is legendary in the tattoo world, known for his black and gangster gray tattoos and super clean lines, who has tattooed the who's who in Hollywood from actors to musicians. And on top of all that, he's one of the coolest people you'll ever meet. The entire staff are friendly, and the shop lives up to its name as a social club, where the elite and the underworld meet. THE BEST!!

If you haven't seen Sirinate for a tattoo you're doing it all wrong.
She's so talented, gentle handed and kind and made the experience so magical for this special portrait of my grandmother on her harley.
I am so happy and will definitely be back. I have been getting tattooed for over 12 years and i always love getting tattooed by women. Such an amazing experience and supporting a fellow creative woman. Thanks again Sirinate, you're the best! Can't wait to come back.
Also, the guys at the shop were so rad, sweet, and Gator was so friendly and attentive to everyone in the shop.
Thanks Shamrock!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Joseph F.Chicago, IL01Jun 16, 2023
This is the shop to go to. Not only is there a respect for the art of tattoo, but also the culture of the tattoo shop. Any intimidation that one might feel from walking into a shop is immediately removed by the warmth and comradery of those working there. The manager is incredible (and Flynn is a great buddy). Mark is a master and should always receive the respect for what he has done for tattooing. Mike did my tattoo and was professional, kind, gave really good, honest feedback about how to make my idea into a workable, beautiful tattoo and executed my tattoo beautifully. I've found my shop here in LA and can't wait to come back! Thank you to you all for such a great experience.

I can't possibly describe how happy I am with my new tattoo. Donatella is an artist and her technical skills are incredible. She not only brought my vague ideas to life but also executed them perfectly. Her single-needle approach allows her to incorporate a level of detail that is incredible.
Each phase of working with Shamrock was great. The place itself is cool and the staff is great. The atmosphere is chill. The office manager, Cody, is very friendly and inviting. I did this in two sessions and I was kind of nervous before my first session. His friendly demeanor helped me to relax.
I can't imagine going anywhere else. HIGHLY recommended!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jazlyn A.San Jose, CA28246Dec 6, 2019
I've been following East for awhile on social media, so I decided to go to him to get a small tattoo above my elbow. I drove up to LA from San Diego to make my 5:30pm appointment. I was early and was told East was behind, which I understand and was fine with waiting. Two hours later I was able to meet with East. East is a quiet guy but very nice and made sure to clarify exactly what I wanted. I wanted serotonin and dopamine symbols so he googled them and printed them out to make a stencil. So he did not have to draw any artwork out, only had to simply print from google and turn to a stencil.
East told me the manager guy would have me fill out paper work and give me a price. Mind you... I had called ahead and was told East's minimum was $250, so I figured ok he's pretty big on Instagram and the shop is in LA so I brought $400 cash and some extra $ for tip hoping that would be enough. The manager guy talked to me and never had me sign any paper work, just showed him my ID. Then the manager tells me he usually would "charge more but since you've been waiting I'll do $600"...... I have two full colored pieces on my forearm that I didn't even pay that much for..and for my arm pieces the artist even had to draw it up and everything.... so why is a single needle tattoo that will take less than 30 min that the artist didn't even have to draw going to coat $600.........
Unfortunately I the only girl left in the shop and I didn't bring anyone with me so honestly I didn't feel like pushing back about the price... so I got the tattoo even though the whole time I felt sick to my stomach knowing I was about to drop $600 on a black, thin lined, google art, and very very small tattoo.
East is great at what he does. He does nice, clean work. But as far as management and prices, I would not recommend this place. Hoping East goes off on his own out of this shop. Would love to support East again but can't justify spending this much again on a simple tattoo like this..Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Emma H.Beverly Hills, CA64776Apr 27, 2020
No better time than quarantine to post a review! I had an appointment with East on February 26th and could not be happier. I did have to wait for my appointment but that was all communicated when I got there. I walked around a little and got an iced coffee based on a shop employees recommendation. I had been wanting a tattoo from East for years and my experience did not disappoint!
Clean and kind!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Cailin O.SoMa, San Francisco, CA01Jan 26, 2023
DON'T GO HERE!!! I was thinking of getting simple traditional flowers below my knee and the artist said it would look wonky and said i should get a different style. He asked to see where i wanted to place it and and then proceeded to comment about having hair on my legs. I'm an 18 year old women so this made me feel very uncomfortable. The whole situation made it seem like he wasn't an experienced artist I ended up not getting anything but my friend did and found out that he is an apprentice (which i wasn't informed of). I don't recommend going here you will be disappointed. Also they are very over charged not worth it!!!
