I've been a fan of Seattle's Best ever since I first tried their peppermint mocha in Borders years ago. And I was sad when all the nearby Seattle's Best closed with Borders. So when this Seattle's Best opened, I was very excited.

I have an unusual love hate relationship with caffeine. When I'm studying, I like to drink coffee to keep me awake and focused. When I'm not studying, caffeine sometimes gives me a headache.

That said, coffee lovers should definitely come to Seattle's Best for their caffeine fix. At Starbucks, I feel their mochas and fraps are sweeter and less coffee taste. At Seattle's Best, the moment I take a sip of their coffee, even their fraps, I know that it's genuine coffee and not just sugar. The rich coffee taste is a lot stronger and I can already feel the caffeine starting to work.

Each frap drink is like an artwork. It looks exactly like their photos. Today, I ordered a Frozen Mint Chocolate Chip Mocha, a Iced Black Tea Lemonade, and an apple strudel. The mocha has a strong coffee taste with a minty flavor. I loved how the whip cream is also green. The Iced Black Tea Lemonade was pretty good. Very refreshing for a hot summer day. The apple strudel was pretty big and not too sweet.

Seattle's Best has Happy Hour Prices Monday through Friday from 2:00-5:00. Large drinks are $3, medium drinks are $2, and pastries are only a $1.

Definitely go here if you want stronger coffee. The staff is nice and helpful and will answer any questions you might have. Located on Monterey where Chavez Market is, the store is a little hidden so you'd have to know where to look to really find it. But this place is wonderful and I feel their special seasonal drinks are better than Starbucks.

I absolutely LOVE THIS PLACE!!! SBC is beyond better than Starbucks. The coffee isn't bitter. It's strong and tasty. The frozen lattes are always blended to perfection and are great on a hot day. My personal fave is the frozen vanilla latte. The ice tea is great and if you want a treat add 3 pumps of raspberry...yum!

The staff is incredible. They are so friendly and respectful. They always have suggestions when you don't know what you want. The owner is so nice and very hands on. The shop is always clean and tidy.

They have wifi and a great place to study if you're a college or high school student. Not too many distractions. Oh did I mention they have happy hour!! Don't get that excited it's still coffee, but it's 50% off between 2-5pm! Can you say yes!

The coffee here actually tastes like coffee which is so awesome!

My bf ordered a regular latte and I ordered Mint Chocolate Javakula. His latte was good except for the fact it was pretty much half foam. My drink was really good, so much better than the Frappucinos at Starbucks, since it tasted like coffee and not like syrup! I could only drink half since I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine ): This place is a great alternative to Starbucks but still not the most awesome coffee shop in the world.

Mmmmm, coffee. I my work is literally directly across the street from this coffee shop and when we are half asleep, we stop in for a pick me up. I've only had straight lattes here, but dear lord they are so darn delicious. I normally take a little sugar in my iced lattes, but I've never had to here as they put the perfect amount of milk in. The coffee actually tastes like coffee, rich and brown and warm tasting (even when iced) instead of the Starbucks syndrome of being mostly syrup and needing to add shots to get it to taste like coffee. The only issue I had once was the latte tasted a bit burnt, so maybe that one day that one girl was new at pulling shots or something. Been lovely before and since, so no big deal

The store is usually empty of customers when I stop in, which is a little disconcerting because I really hope it doesn't have to close down. But it also means that the staff has no one to take care of but you and they've always been friendly. I picked up a pound of roast 3 which is so far my favorite, and I've been working my way through a "curiosity pack" I think 1 could be fine for straight coffee, but tasted a little thin done up as a latte. 5 was a touch dark for me, but with the right amount of milk and sugar very pleasantly drinkable with a slight bitter note. I'll let you know how the others go when I get there

Nice to see another coffee place other than Starbucks! I think they recently open so they're still fixing and tweaking things here and there. Place was clean. Service was excellent. I overheard a customer not liking their drink because there was too much coffee and not enough caramel--yeah, yeah, I know, it's a coffee place; how can you complain about having too much coffee??)-- anyways, the barista re-made her drink for no extra charge.

I'm not sure if they still have it, but they have happy hours between 2pm and 5pm (I think?) where all drinks and pastries are 50% off!

      LOVE. THIS. PLACE.

As someone who literally shed tears when Borders (and thus all Seattle's Best cafes therein) closed, this stand-alone cafe is a Godsend! It's the same rich, deep Seattle's Best coffee flavor--with all of the great frozen drinks and the like--of the great ol' Borders cafes variety, not the sad kind often sold at Burger Kings or movie theatres. This is the OG SB and I couldn't be happier.

This location itself is incredibly clean, well-lit, well-designed and with a super friendly and fast staff. The Wifi is blazing fast and the bathroom is spotless. And, as others have mentioned, 50% happy hours M-F from 2PM-5PM! I got a small vanilla ice latte and a large frozen mocha for $3.75. Does it get any better?!

      Can't wait to come back.

Im willing to try any coffee shop that is not a starbucks.

I've been here about 6-7 times since it opened. I was unfamiliar with the drinks, but the girls (usually two of the same ones in the mornings) explained their process of brewing coffee for iced drinks, which end up being a stronger brew than other places...i.e., Starbucks. the blended coffee drinks tasted like coffee, not a cup of flavored syrup. The scones are also tasty. I hope they add more pastry selections, since there aren't too many choices.

I come here when I am in the area. Friendly service and completely clean.

Meh!! It has changed over the years- either the SBC quality or this store... I'm thinking it is this store!!

I worked for 2 years at and SBC so I know the product and quality. The marble mocha was made with shots instead of the normal cold brewed coffee.

The girl employee was friendly but the boy was less then thrilled to be there. He couldn't crack a smile and instead, played on his phone while there were customers.
The pastry case was pretty sad!

I've been here a total of 3 times with my family. We're all big frappe fans (which they call "frozen drinks" here).

PROs: The prices are great especially if you buy their Groupon or go during Happy Hour (you can't use the Groupon along with their Happy Hour prices), the frozen drinks are beautiful and look much fancier than Starbucks frappucinos...and it's in a convenient spot with lots of parking.

CONs: The frozen drinks tasted kind of watered down like they used a lot of milk filler instead of coffee, there's usually only one employee there who handles both the register AND makes the drinks so it takes a long time to get your drink, and the menu is more limited than Starbucks.
