Are you familiar with the small claims court process? Well you will be if you hire him. Have been in court no less than 6 times, still chasing several thousand dollars that he STOLE from me.
Do yourself a favor and move on.

We hired Seaside Masonry the beginning of July, 2017. We gave a deposit the same day that he gave us the estimate and owner Vinnie said he would do the work in August. August came and went. I called him and he said he was really busy and would do our work in September. September came and went and no Vinnie.
I sent him an email because his voice mail on his cell phone was filled and I could not leave a message. He contacted my husband and told him he would be at our house the next week, which was now October. Again he never showed or called. I wrote him an email and told him to return our deposit and we would find someone else more dependible. He returned our deposit to my husband and never even said a word or apologized. I would not recommend Seaside Masonary to anyone.

Don't hire this guy. Work was incomplete, substandard - I could have done better myself. I filed in small claims court to recover deposit for work not completed and damages and was told there was a line in front of me.

I am writing this review on behalf of Seaside Masonry and its proprietor, Vinny Ferrara. My husband and I have been professionally involved with Mr Ferrara for the past few years. During that time, Mr Ferrara has completed five separate projects on our property as well as a few for our neighbors. Our house is a pink lady Victorian doll house and has been designed by me and painted by my husbands company. I have paid attention to every detail on the development and creation of our home. It is critical to both me and my husband that contractors that enter into professional relationship with us treat our property as if it were their own. Mr Ferrara and his crew were able to take my ideas and combine them with their masonry expertise to create the perfect complement for our Victorian home. As an example, we have gothic style cathedral windows on different portions of the home. Mr Ferrara was able to build complementary stone shelving to accent our outdoor fireplace. He and his crew treated every detail and request with the utmost respect and professionalism. My husband has a very well know painting business in the North Shore area and is well respected in the community. He has referred Mr Ferrara to quite a few of his clients because of the level of professionalism and quality of his craft. We are aware of the mixed reviews that Mr Ferrara has received in the past year or so. We know that Mr Ferrara has been struggling with some personal issues that he has made a commitment to address. Our hope for him is that he fulfills his commitment to restore the respect and trust of his past and future customers. We used Mr Ferrara last week and welcomed him back to our property to complete some warranty work as well as a new project. Our experience with him last week was as it had been in prior years. I am giving Mr Ferrara 4 stars, as opposed to 5, due to some of his struggles that have been reflected in his other reviews. Good luck to you Vinny.

Seaside did a great job rebuilding my stone porch with granite and building a much needed wall. Quick, clean, and efficient!

Vinnie took my deposit and never showed up to do the work. He stopped returning my calls/emails/texts. I had to take him to court to return my money. He will not be in business for long with this type of conduct. Stay away!!!!!

      First to Review

After getting several estimate for the work I needed done, I hired Seaside Masonry to install a patio and two sets of stairs. They weren't the cheapest and they weren't the most expensive. I hired them because they are Italian and Italians are supposed to be great masons....

The one positive I will give them is that they kept me updated on their schedule.

But let's get to the matter at hand. They had to pour the concrete in two separate areas, so they used the driveway for one side and the street side for the other. When it came time to pour the concrete in my back yard, the cement truck parked in my driveway and broke the asphalt in several places. (That issue was subsequently handled by Seaside's insurance company). When they poured it on the street side, they broke a picket on my fence and tried to nail the missing piece back onto the picket.

My relationship with Vinnie prior to the driveway being damaged was very good; after the driveway was damaged, Vinnie just wanted to get away from the project.

The quality (or lack thereof) of the work that was done is non-existent. The concrete is cracking and chipping in several spots. There are several puddles when it rains. As for the finish work, I took pictures and sent them to Vinnie. Throwing down some rocks and saying o.k. we're all done, NOT acceptable.

With respect to the stairs, someone that used to work with Seaside Masonry and knew their procedures told me "Treads need to be set in mortar not construction adhesive. The top tread is not making contact at the center of tread and will crack over time. Setting treads in mortar will resolve this issue. Stone wall block is stacked bond on bond not staggered bond. All cells must be filled with concrete and have rebar inserted every other cell if the mason does not want to rebuild stairs."

Vinnie underestimated how much concrete would he would need and I had to pay him an additional $500.00.

I have taken several pictures and sent them to Vinnie for the inadequate work that he performed. He said he would return to fix the problems and to date he has done so.

This is not just a revenge review, I have pictures to document every statement that I have made. I tried in good faith to have these problems fixed to no avail.
