This isn't a review for the doctor because it's impossible to get through to their lazy reception. I've worked as a dental receptionist as my first job out in high school and currently work as health care provider for one the biggest health care organization.
I couldn't understand why my husband was having such a difficult time trying to get them to take our insurance. It's not rocket science to look up insurance info and process if through. It's pretty elementary. I mean YOU HAVE ONE JOB. JUST ONE JOB!
After finally finding our insurance after several phone calls, they had the audacity to ask for a referral! Have I ever needed a referral to see a freakin' dentist?!? My husband called them several times again and left several messages, only to be told that they will cancel his appointment.
Either the reception is lazy, incompetent or both or perhaps they're just looking for cash paying customers. Health care shouldn't be boutique care.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Georg B.Miami Beach, FL8168Sep 8, 2018Updated review
This is regarding the front desk service I received.
It took over 4 phone calls and an insane amount of information to establish that I indeed hadthe insurance coverage I knew I had. No callbacks whatsoever when trying to clarify things.
Less than 48 hrs before my appointment I was told a need a referral without any specifics. I left a voicemail but never heard back. Upon calling again 24 hrs prior, I was told to better cancel and "try to find out what satisfies my insurance in terms of the referral". Sorry, that's not my job and I cannot be the first with my very common NorCal-based coverage.
Bottom line: You don't need me I don't need you.
Update: According to my insurance I don't even need a referral. Rather unprofessionally provide misinformation from the desk clerks or maybe it's just plain laziness.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 7, 2018Previous reviewThis is regarding the front desk service I received.

I came to Dr. Swanson because of some pain in my arm soft tissues. He asked me a couple of questions and sent me to take X-rays. We started a treatment. The receptionist was super nice and friendly, and the office look professional with many certificates hanged up, but there was one thing I missed which was the basic need for explanation about the treatment or process, even just in layers man terms, but I didn't get any, even after I asked for it a few times.
I don't have doubts in his abilities and professionalism, I only missed the human touch, which I'm sure he has but maybe it's just didn't happen with me.
After coming for a couple of weeks and not getting any progression and no explanation about the treatment I decided to stop the service. And after a week I received a letter with a negative tone to it that because I stopped the treatment on my own I'm threatening my condition and he doesn't take any responsibility for me from now on. I can understand that it might be a regular procedure doctors in America need to go through to protect themselves against suits, but for me it was pretty negative and offensive experience. I feel that the letter could be written in a more positive way.
So overall it was not a negative experience, and I'm sure he can help you with your problem, but for me, he didn't answer my basic needs for clarity.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John G.San Francisco, CA1321Apr 2, 2008
I have been a patient of Dr Swanson since 2004. In addition to helping condiderabably with complications from whiplash, Dr Swanson has helped with ongoing lower back trouble. Dr Swanson is well trained in all forms of chiropratic medicine. Both new and old.
The Staff is kind and curious.
There is usually good parking.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - showing O.San Francisco, CA061Aug 22, 2008
Having worked with Scott at the Haight Ashbury clinic, I was very excited to see him in action at his own clinic. I can see why Parkside won "Best of the Bay." Everybody was extremely friendly and Scott is wonderfully communicative in everything he does. In terms of treatment, he knew precisely where to go to fix those problem areas. Adjustments can be a scary thing, but I felt completely comfortable in his expert hands.
I got this wonderful handout that showed the exact muscle tension per vertebrae of my spine. Love the visual! But even better of course was how wonderfully open, free and energized I felt after the treatment. I came in with some residual soreness after yoga, and it all vanished after seeing Scott. I highly recommend!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Deborah F.Ann Arbor, MI38171Jan 16, 2008
Having moved to the city and needing to find a chiropractor, I was so lucky to have struck gold with Dr. Swanson. Aside from his caring demeanor, he is a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner, which means he provides "non-invasive pain treatment related to disorders of the neck and back, including soft tissue sprains and strains" which is the source of much of my back pain.
He has been able to help me reduce the level of pain I once experienced, as well as provide me with resources and information that benefit my overall health.
I cannot forget to mention Bettie who works as Dr. Swanson's assistant. She always provides a smile or laugh and is great in helping me get in to see Dr. Swanson.
I highly recommend visiting Parkside Chiropractic for your chiropractic needs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kelly C.San Francisco, CA13424Apr 7, 2008
I am very stingy about my five stars, but Parkside Chiropractic deserves all five because really? For me to actually LOOK FORWARD to a doctor's appointment is quite a feat. (Maybe that's why I'm always early for my appointments?)
In the first visit, Dr. Swanson took the time to ask about my medical history, check out what the situation was, and suggested a treatment plan. It was all very orderly and efficient, and the treatments eliminated the wrist pains, which was what I initially went in for. Dr. Swanson is professional but still friendly and easy to talk to. I never have to worry about awkward silences during the treatments, because yes, I do worry about things like that. Don't judge me.
Generally, the person working at the front desk sets the tone of the office, and Bettie is great at making the office feel welcoming and laid back. She is always a delight to talk to, and greets everyone personally with a genuine smile.
All in all, a pleasant experience from beginning to end!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nolan M.San Francisco, CA21183Jun 11, 2015
I was starting to feel like a hunchback after a few years of working in the real world.... neck hurt, back hurt, couldn't stand straight. Started coming to Dr. Swanson twice a week and in just 2 months I feel incredible! Adrienne the receptionist is also super nice and really good with fitting in appointments that meet my schedule. So glad I found these folks!!!

not quite sure what happened. so the morning after st pattys, i woke up to EXTREME back pains. back in hs, i had a little *accident* and had to wear a back brace for a bit. after a month or so of treatments, i was in pretty good shape, enough to not pop pills all day and wear that corset looking shit.
well, i know back pains, the sunday after st pattys ranks up there. you know those back pains you cant walk straight and if you do you get shooting pains down the sides, numbness in fingers and toes. yeah. it was all that.
i went to dr swanson after reading some reviews here on yelp. well what do you know, his office is in the same building as abc appliance on taraval where homie misheddie works and across the street from shin toe bul yi, toms uncles joint, and right up from genes where the 'set folks know to get subcenter sandwiches without the line.
dr swanson is years younger than i thought hed be. for some strange reason i was picturing an old graying man. ehhh.
he asked a few things, tested this and that, and after just the first treatment, i was feeling MUCH better. i could walk around regularly. of course im going to need more work done cause i still cant sit or stand or lay down in one position longer than an hour.
can easily recommend him.
oohhh and betty in the front desk is so nice. lovely lady.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Danielle T.Redondo Beach, CA6257Jan 6, 2014
This review is regarding the reception. Not only were they rude and poor communicators, I was told I needed a referral to get Chiropractic care. What kind of scheme is this? No thanks, you lost a potential patient.
