I would suggest that you go to their website and check out the menu. As a non-meat dish, the potato pancakes (appetizer) are delicious.

We went here for my birthday and it wasn't very busy.
The decor is really cute with German collections. The seating and atmosphere was cozy.
The service was friendly but super slow. We were surprised by how long it took to get our entrées considering there weren't many patrons.
My husband and dad's girlfriend enjoyed their German beers.
I ordered the plate which was not pictured. It had a variety of sausages, German meatloaf, schnitzel, German potato salad, and sauerkraut. It was absolutely delicious. It was pricy but it was a decent portion. I also got the salad plate which came with red cabbage, creamy cucumber salad, pickled beets and pickled white beans. It was super tasty!
My dad ordered the brats and sauerkraut. He liked the brats but said the sauerkraut was too strong for him.
My husband and dad's girlfriend ordered the same thing, which was the schnitzel with onions. They really enjoyed their meal. It came with soup or salad and they both opted for soup. The chicken noodle and liver dumpling soups were both super flavorful and delicious!
For dessert, we went with the German chocolate cake. It was so moist and light. The cherries complimented the cake and mouse filling. We all really enjoyed this sweet treat. Definitely reccomend!
The performer was amazing! He was using all sorts of musical instruments and interacted with the patrons by playing German music. Very cool experience!
Overall, we enjoyed our food and experience. We would reccomend and return for some authentic German food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 23220803844Dec 20, 2023
For traditional Bavarian food in a folksy setting, this is the place (or Platz, I suppose)! Not a large restaurant, and aside from the booths many of the tables are large and set up as communal style, so if the idea of talking to strangers horrifies you, perhaps make a reservation and secure a booth in advance.
The food was quite good overall. We started with the giant pretzel with beer cheese, which was the perfect pretzel in my mind, and plenty for two. Then our meals came with either soup or salad: himself went with the cream of chicken and rice soup of the day (I had a taste; yummy) and I tried the German pickled salad (interesting but not all of the samplings appealed to me).
We both tried a Schnitzel (I mean, it's in the name of the restaurant after all!) He got the rahm schnitzel with a creamy brown sauce, and I got the Jager schnitzel with a rich mushroom wine sauce. Both came with two sizeable cutlets of breaded pork and two sides (we both got spaetzel, he got fries and I got red cabbage), so this is a lot of food!
Our waitress (Cory I believe) was fun and kept a good eye on us. She also gave me a hint with the beverage I ordered (the Honey crisp cocktail) to stir it up with the straw because all the liquor settles to the bottom.
On weekends they have live music, and since it was a week before Christmas it was Christmas themed this time. It was one fellow playing nearly a dozen instruments: keyboard, guitar, banjo, mandolin, xylophone, cowbells, blowing on glass bottles, flute, panflute, trumpet (including two at once!?) as well as singing. Quite impressive!
Overall, for tasty German fare with a side of musical entertainment, Schnitzel Platz is one to check out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cindy M.San Diego, CA413Apr 25, 2024
Sauer Braten was deee-lish! Service friendly and considerate/attentive to our party of six. Ambiance was pretty much what I expected. Tables and booths, beer steins and cuckoo clocks. An enjoyable evening with family.

Our go to place for Oktoberfest. Always fun, loud, and friendly.
The food is homey and tasty, great selection of beers and friendly service.
My favorite dinner: Sauerbraten, Sauerkraut and Spätzle - sometimes we take out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Petey S.Chicago, IL145117Apr 22, 2024
This place has so much potential. We tried the sauerkraut balls, mini burgers and pork schnitzel. The kraut balls had so much salt and bread crumb binding they were not edible. The mini burgers had a really strange texture that we couldn't get over. The schnitzel was moist, but didn't have a ton of flavor. This was the only thing my kiddo would eat and referred to it as a chicken nugget which I think is an accurate description. The bar could be a fun hang out if they staffed it, but definitely wouldn't return for the food.

This is my favorite German place in the burbs of the ones I've been to.
This is about my 4th time, at least, coming here, not including pickup during COVID.
Had reservations with a group of 5 other friends and we were seated quickly.
Service was super quick, very good on refills and friendly.
Table had a variety of meals:
Onion Schnitzel
Schnitzel Cordon Blue
Black Forest Schnitzel
some others
Kartoffelpfannkuchen
Everything was delicious. The schnitzels breaded perfectly, the temp was right, the portions were huge.
Deutscher Kartoffel Salad - Warm potato salad was very flavorful, tangy like I like it with that vinegar flavor.
Rotkohl - the red cabbage is also warm, tangy and sweet and very good.
The cold salads that came with it were full of fresh veggies with great flavor.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kathleen C.Elmwood Park, IL016Apr 6, 2024

If my German uncle says the food is delicious, then it is (and I totally agree). Locally owned, too. Service feels slightly elevated. The live music on weekends makes for a fun and lively time. Recommend dining in, but not so much for take out or catering.

I really wish we had a good German restaurant like this in Omaha! Visiting the Chicago area we came across this wonderful delight and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Everything from the decorations, which are in the truest of Bavarian styles to the food was just fantastic! A wonderful beer selection of all your favorite German styles, including Weinstephaner, Spotton, Hofbrauhaus, and everything else!
The service was extremely attentive and eager to please. Everything from the potato pancakes, the side salads, and the various schnitzel dishes we ordered were just out of this world. I do wish that they had shredded the potatoes for the potato pancakes and seasoned them a little bit more like the ones my grandmother used to made, but they were served with traditional, sour cream and applesauce.
A definite place to check out when you're in the area and craving some German, stick to your ribs, comfort food, like your grandmother, used to make food!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0
