Such a beautiful place to enjoy. Loveee the padlocks along the bridge and the view by the rapids. Always run into nice people along the way. Also a nice place for family gatherings or wedding receptions etc. There are nice biking and walking trails, clean bathrooms, even doggy water fountains. Only thing Id recommend to stay away from there, is the kayaking booth. Such a sore for the river, but avoid them and all will be well (ruuuuudddde rude rude man that runs it)

This is truly a beautiful place to visit! My first experience was years ago when my photographer recommended it for family pictures. I immediately fell in love with the Spanish moss hanging from the trees and definitely wanted to capture that "southern" look. Also, there are places off the beaten path near little waterfalls and rushing water for more picture opportunities.

Since then, I've returned with my family and friends for a relaxing stroll in nature. I enjoy the paths, especially for my young daughter. They have so much to offer: kayak rentals, bicycle rentals, a cooling off area for both humans and pets, bike repair station, a playground, etc.

I appreciate that they have clean restrooms available as well as trash cans, and doggy doo receptacles. There's a lot to explore and a lot of history, I highly recommend it!

There is nothing like going to Savannah Rapids Pavilion after a good rain in the springtime. You do not have to worry about a high pollen content and the aroma of honeysuckles that greet you is intoxicating. Viewing from the Overlook, one can get lost in the moment listening to the sounds of water as it travels over the falls, gingerly meandering through the rocks between GA and SC. You can walk a small loop starting from the headgates back to the parking lot via the walking bridge as a middle point, but you will be challenged by a slight incline(approx. 3-5%) as you return to the parking lots closer to the Pavillon. If that sounds a bit too challenging, one can park at the lower parking lots and reverse the loop for an easier trek.

What an incredible place to have in Augusta. It's beautiful to be able to escape to this place that runs along the Savannah River. The trail actually runs between the Canal and the River. It's stunning. The trail is well kept, marked with mileage and signs notifying you of your location and distance to the next spot. I always feel safe.
You can rent kayaks, take long walks, have a picnic. There's a playground, and the Pavillion is available for rent. There's lots of parking.
If you live in Augusta or even are just visiting you owe it to yourself to get out and spend some time in this beautiful place!

This place is a joy to visit no matter the season. The hiking and bike trails are free so be sure to at least come check it out for yourself soon. As you find your way to it though, you might wonder if GPS is not working correctly. The neighborhoods filled with big beautiful houses and then, you take a right. As you pull in, you will find plenty of parking as well as a playground for the little ones. The sound of the rapids will immediately begin to calm you as will the views.
Now I have seen the main pavilion and one of the outdoor pavilions from experience. The main pavilion has been for a company Christmas party and wedding reception. Both were an amazing setup and spacious with the view through the windows (or out on deck, weather permitting) is breathtaking. They have smaller rooms downstairs in case you don't need quite so much space. The outdoor pavilion has the rapids almost directly behind us and a nice walkway (for wheelchairs or golf carts). It is far enough removed from the main paths that you don't have strangers interrupting your ceremony/event. It makes for some gorgeous pictures. The staff are always friendly (and even willing to get a cup of coffee for you, when asked).

      *Insider's tip
-Go online to rent bikes or kayaks. Also, rental contracts for the pavilions are on there as well.

      Beautiful!!!
The area to the East of the river needs to be maintained better.
It has a gate that is suppose to prevent people from walking on a very dangerous area... but the little gate is easy to bypass.

But this was one of the pretties parks I've been to.
I never knew Augusta had such pretty areas!
      Waterfalls, beautiful water and trees.

This spot is definitely one of the most premier parks in the Augusta, Evans, Martinez area and my families favorite. The center is right at the mouth of the historical Augusta canal and parallels the Savannah River for some sweeping views. The best time to go is right at sunrise while you're on the trail and catch it rising over the river - a peaceful site.

As for the Center itself, the area is well-manicured and taken care of. The main building is big enough for a medium sized wedding party while the other surrounding buildings are useful for family reunions and BBQ's. The center has a wealth of information about the region and the history of the canal. Be sure to go by the old damn building with a lock so you can hang it on the rails.

This place is a must if you are an outside spirit so get on the trail for a little run, walk, bike, hike, or canoe!!

This place is an awesome day trip for those outdoors type of people! You have options to walk the trail, run it, kayak or just see some beautiful sights and get a good piece of mind.

We came out with our dog to walk the trail and we were amazed by the sights. Families taking pictures, waterfalls, bridges, extensive trails, this place has plenty to do, I even seen fishing poles for those who may enjoy catching fish.

We had a great time and our small, energetic dog was exhausted by the time we left. We made sure to bring his bowl and some extra water for breaks, as it was a warm day. It always excites me when I can find a good trail thats ling enough to tire me out and also see good sights to take pictures of.

I rate this trail a 5/5 for the availability of options and the sights that you will see. This place is a MUST VISIT if you like to be outdoors or if you just want a change of pace.

This place is so beautiful! Whether you just want to take a peaceful walk or want some beautiful scenery to take in, this place is it. I love overlooking the small falls and seeing the different types of birds fly over. The sound of the rushing waters is calming and I could honestly just sit there forever. It seems to be a good biking spot since I always see people riding. I know there are kayak rentals and spots to host events.

      The view of the falls!

Great location to host an event. The 4-H club often uses this building; it is very spacious and has a spectacular view of the Savannah River. It is a wonderful venue to host an event.

Owned and operated by Columbia County, Savannah Rapids Pavilion is a self-supporting multi-purpose community/conference center. The pavilion offers a variety of rooms ranging in size from a 12-person conference room to a banquet room capable of accommodating 500.

Savannah Rapids Pavilion is situated on an 80 - foot bluff overlooking the beautiful Savannah River and the Historic Augusta Canal. The facility offers a commercial kitchen on the main level and a limited kitchen on the lower level. Moveable partition walls permit the facility to accommodate small or large functions such as family reunions, weddings and receptions, conferences, seminars, trade shows, training sessions and organization meetings

The beauty of Augusta can easily be underestimated, but with the variety of scenery near the pavilion you can be lost in its allure.

The Savannah Rapids Pavilion is located just above the headgates on the Savannah river and provides to be a beautiful location for photography. On Fri-Sun you'll see family members taking candids and professionals holding mini photoshoots. The old rock walls and outstanding background turn out so well with the varying light/shade.

The Augusta Canal Company was formed over 160 years ago and is still in decent condition. The canal is 9 miles long, 11' deep, 150' wide at the surface and capable of producing 14,000 horsepower. This fury can be seen with the power of the river roaring behind you at the headgate.

From the beginning the canal has been used for recreation, social events and escape from the city. In the 1840's boats charged 50¢ to take passengers up the canal and while prices may have rose, the beauty is still worth every penny.

Take the time to go kayaking, snap some photos, bike down the trails or simply sit on a bench to soak in nature.
