If I ain't doubled down on San Loo yet, then allow me to clear my throat... .... John and staff are literally booting up every day to bring drinks to the masses. Along with other small biz in the Lou... the stay at home set really needs to rethink Monday thru Thursday. This guy is literally coming to work on a Monday at quarter to ten, and there is no one I that bar. Come spend your money here!?!?!?!!! Please!

Most importantly, everyone I know that comes in here is very friendly and super supportive of their community,... I been an alien since I moved back, and I gotta say this block and ALL the awesome businesses up and down Cherokee street are really putting their money where their mouth is. I am very happy to be home and when I am feeling better I will def be back. Good looking out for everyone San Loo,... ....
Dec 31, 2021Previous reviewLoooove this bar,... super chill and friendly vibe,... so many activities and a dope horror theme with big screen movies playing all night... who could ask for more. The owner John is awesome at setting up heated patio tents, so if you like a lil cancer with your bourbon you got an outdoor spot you can chill all night! Pretty chill about me getting hammered and forcing my TouchTunes selections on the bar,... no need tho they always got dope selections from hip hop to John Prine. Be back thru soon!

Hidden gem of a Cherokee Street dive bar. Honestly, I had no idea this spot was here until I had pizza next door and they told me to go next door for a drink.
We entered through the secret passage way in the back and alas, a kick ass dive bar.
Complete with pinball, local and domestic beer options, a full bar, and a patio. It was too cold this past weekend to take advantage of it, but they have one!
There was a comfortable amount of folks there on Saturday evening. Not empty, but also you have privacy if you want it.
I'll be back!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - 309273325Apr 30, 2018
How is it possible I've never reviewed my favorite bar on Cherokee??
Huge patio, super cheap drinks and fun staff make this one of my regular haunts.
If there's not a show, there's likely to be a cool horror movie on in the background. They also lots of video games/systems if that's your thing.
If there is a show (depending on the type of music), it can get really, really loud. I love that they have all kinds of bands play from blues to jazz to punk or metal.
On the weekends the bakery next door sells amazing pizzas through a little window in the wall.
No food but you can bring in whatever you want or get delivery.
Super dog friendly.

I've been here several times. I like the happy hour specials and patio. Eccentric decor, but a bit dark inside. Sometimes they have bands!
They have videogames as well. It is a bit cramped inside, and there's only one bathroom. You can order food from the Pizza restaurant next door and they will bring it over. The drink prices are super reasonable, especially with happy hour deals ($3 for a tall boy).
I often stop by here after hanging out / volunteering at Tenth Life cat rescue, which is across the street.
I have my own car, but for those taking public transit, the bus stops right outside.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kelly B.Saint Louis, MO66110694524Oct 24, 2019
Divey neighborhood bar on the west end of Cherokee Street. Campy horror flicks on the TV , a back patio, and lots of bands with foul language. Sometimes you need a bar like this to go to. If this is your thing... I recommend. I've had many a good time at San Loo.

San Loo to You!
Cherokee Street has a vast options of dive bars and music venues. There are so many that it's pretty easy to forget about San Loo, but if you like supporting local music and drinking cheap beer, you should definitely find your way there!
San Loo was once Livery Company, which moved down to South Broadway some time ago. When you walk in, you can barely tell the difference. However, the keen eye will notice that the stage has been expanded several feet. Also, the bar now takes credit and debit, which was probably my greatest frustration with Livery.
Also, the sound has been improved drastically. Along with the expansion of the stage, a much better PA has been put into bar. However, the venue is so small that you can get blown out pretty easily. I went to a metal show there earlier this month, and the last band was incredibly loud. The venue seems more fit for indie and acoustic music, despite its ability to accommodate louder bands.
Like I said, there's not much to the room. If you can get twenty people to show up, it looks pretty full. Luckily, they have a pretty large patio, which is basically a backyard. And it's pretty appealing on a cool fall evening.
Also, they have a surprisingly good beer selection that rivals some of the bars on the main Cherokee Street drag.
I miss having Livery Company on Cherokee, but I'm pretty happy to see San Loo take its place. You can really tell the owners put some work into improvements.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Teddy M.Columbia, MO2572225Dec 15, 2017
A nice narrow setup with plenty of parking on a Friday night. Good beer selection in the cooler and a handful of beers on tap. They keep the tap local. Came here for a show and the acoustics are pretty spot on. Had a fun, enjoyable experience.

My favorite shot is the hamburger shot... Friendly staff, excellent service, great beer selection for such a small place.

Live music, super inexpensive drinks, friendly atmosphere, great bartenders. Pizza available from next door on the busier nights and it's awesome.
