Me and my daughter wanted to do dine in Hibachi. Do we need to make a reservation?
A:
I would suggest a reservation. We were there at 6pm on a Thursday night and all the hibachi tables were full. And there was a hour wait. They are not filling all the seats due to covid. So there are less people at a table.

Love the Food here at Sake. Quick service here too. I like the bar area but if I go with a crowd I like the Hibachi tables. Love the pictures hanging too

The food is great at Sake, but the overall experience was rather underwhelming.
Our party of two was seated almost immediately at an empty hibachi table for 10. We were told that if no one strolled in in 15 minutes, they would fire up the grill for just us. We didn't mind waiting since we had put in an order for cocktails and calamari.
35 minutes later, we had a few other people at our table and no grill master. It was a weekday and a small crowd in an other-wise empty restaurant, and you could tell that the grill master was over it. He didn't know any of the hibachi tricks. No onion volcano, no beating heart on the rice, no shrimp tail toss to a guest. Part of the reason hibachi is so highly priced is the "dinner-tainment" which we just didn't get.
Our bill was 120 dollars. The food was good, but not worth the price and I definitely won't be back for dinner and a no-showHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 3, 2023
Sake is a perfect spot for a group dinner. Every time I've been there for dinner it's been packed with birthday groups, but service remains quick and efficient and they don't rush the hibachi experience. I would suggest making a reservation. I love that the hibachi meals come with both noodles and fried rice. Can't wait to visit again!

5 stars for service alone. Both of our waiters were really nice & prompt to help us. We got seated really quickly as well.
We came solely for sushi but the hibachi experience looked like it would be great so I would give this place a shot for that as well.
We started with the pork gyoza which was cooked perfectly and good as a whole. We each did 2 rolls; the TNT (not on the online menu), the Godzilla, the Red Hot & another one not on the online menu but can't recall the name.
I think we would come back here for sureHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bala G.San Mateo, CA6311815Aug 27, 2023
We came around 2 pm for lunch and sat in the regular seating area - not into the showmanship with lousy margarine loaded faux Japanese food made at the Habachi grill! There were very few people in the area where we were seated, so service was excellent. The restaurant is nice and spacious with well maintained seating.
I ordered 12 pieces sashimi special. My wide ordered the sushi lunch special. Both came with misonsoup and salad. The miso soup was good but pretty much standard fare. The salad was good with very tasty dressing. There was too much dressing but it settled nicely at the bottom so I was good.
There were four types of sashimi - salmon, tuna, scallop, and yellow fin. Every one of them were decent size, fresh, and melted in my mouth. The presentation was absolutely gorgeous.
I noticed the reviews about slow service. That was not the case with me. Maybe because of the time of the day and meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 19, 2023
Hands down the best sushi spot in the 518. I might be biased be cause Howie and crew take incredible care of us but we've tried them all and still crave the rolls and house sake salad (get it, it's incredible). It's never too loud even in the hibachi. Until next time, keep up the incredible work!

My friend took me here for dinner as I'm not from the area. The wait for hibachi was too long so we opted for a table in the dining area. I ordered a mule beverage and the pineapple fried rice and a sweet potato avocado sushi roll. Didn't snag a photo of the sushi as I devoured it up too quickly!! The pineapple fried rice was so plentiful and delicious. It had chicken and shrimp in it which I was pleasantly surprised by. I had enough to share with my girlfriend and for another meal the next day.

This is my 3rd time here and I've never had a bad experience. I was with a party of 9 for hibachi lunch on a Sunday and we were seated right away. Our wait staff came and checked on us just enough. I had sashimi and the rest of my party had hibachi meals. I had a taste of the scallops and chicken and both tasted great! This is not necessarily for someone on a budget but if you're looking for dinner a show, this is your place!

Start with a positive, so service was attentive. Maybe too attentive. We ordered sushi for two, and it was massively underwhelming. A whole lot of rice. The nondescript salad had some Mayo-based ginger dressing that didn't do much for the veggies. The small sake wasn't dry as advertised, essentially tasteless. Another review suggested the ambiance was classy? Try kitschy. It was a costly meal that won't be repeated.
