This review is only for their Cha lua (Vietnamese sausage made of pork wrapped in banana leaves). I only come here for one reason and that is to buy my mother 5 rolls of Cha everytime I come here.

If I'm driving all the way from the East Bay to this place just for their Cha then it must be good right? My mother seems to think so. For $4 a roll, this piece a meat satisfies thy mother. And we want a happy mother correct? I sure do :P

Whenever we run out, she reminds me to go get more. To be honest, I don't know why she only wants me to get it from this place when I can just buy it from somewhere closer.

I think one day I'll buy the Cha from somewhere closer and see if she notices :P

DON'T FORGET TO HAVE CASH ON YOU, BECAUSE IT'S CASH ONLY.

PS- Maybe I'll buy something else next time to make my drive more worth it.

PS #2- I'm already the Duchess of this place...

Came by for a light lunch the other day and parking was plentiful in the private lot. This sandwich shop is cash only and the staff speaks fluent English.

...a lot of the snacks on the counter were not priced...

Sandwiches & Pate Chauds were Buy 2 get 1 free.

      Fresh Rolls
      - Rice paper was slightly dry
      - Inside had tons of lettuce...also slightly dry.
      - Shrimps were decent...but I think it was missing a slice of pork?

Pate Chaud was decent but wasn't hot...

Egg roll was a pass...didn't taste fresh.

      Fresh Rolls - $3.75
      Pate Chaud - $1.35 & Egg Roll - $.6

This a smaller ma and pop kind of bakery and light food kinda place.

Parking is more or less unlimited. There is a large surface lot right in front and a larger lot associated with that mall next door. They only time parking will remotely be an issue will be during the holidays-Christmas, Tet etc. and also for a few hours after church on super popular weekend mornings. Even then you'll find a spot somewhere in that lot.

This is a smaller spot with very limited seating. Very much the eat it and beat it kind of joint. Happily the pastries, sweet buns and whatnot here are of very good quality. There will be lines in the morning and in the afternoons they'll be pretty much cleared out of stock. Don't be rolling in at two pm and be wanting a bahn mi is what I'm trying to say. Service is not of the zestfully cheerful either. It's more along the lines of shut up and order something. Last and least of the small issues here is that this is currently a cash only enterprise as well. No cards,no fancy cell phone pay systems.

Now onto the good news. The food here be it sweet or savory are solidly delicious. It's a very wallet friendly spot as well. You can get a lot of food for less then five bucks.

So while there are some things that are no so nice this remains a good verging on great spot for sweets and savories to go.

So I only came here as a friend had mentioned the Buy 2 Get one 1 free deal here. Since I was buying 18 sandwiches, this would save me a good amount of cash. Convenient location, in an Asian plaza right off of 280.

The guy in front of me bought a grilled pork baguette. I asked him if it was like BBQ pork, as I did not see it on the menu, and he said yes and that it was delicious. Great! So I give her my order of 9 chicken baguettes (the long skinny bread) at $2.50, but she pointed to the hamburger bun sized photos and said those were buy 2 get one free, buy those. Darn, I wished it was the baguette style, but that's the deal I had come for, so I ordered 9 of those. And 9 of the grilled pork, but one with pate for myself. I re-emphasized my order, and asked for all of them to be cut in half since they're a bit hard to eat (had it before) since the bread is so huge. I waited to pay, but I guess I was not to pay until they had my order ready.

A lady came out from the back and went over the order with me again. They make it in the back, so I couldn't see if everything was right, and they asked me something that I couldn't understand, and she finally showed me the pickled daikons and carrots and I said yes, assuming she was asking if I wanted those inside.

She brought out the sandwiches and sliced them up for me. I was hoping they would distinguish the chicken and pork, but she showed me that she was using blue rubber bands for chicken, red for pork. Sweet.

When I ate my pork with pate, it was good, but the pork was oily, kind of a weird substance, but I still ate it up. It was not my favorite BBQ pork vietnamese sandwich though. The bread was good and didn't tear up the roof of my mouth.

If you're buying a bunch of sandwiches for cheap, or just want some bread, as I saw a lot of customers picking up, this is the place to go to. But, I've definitley had better.

      CASH ONLY.

Came in at around 7:40pm with a friend to buy 21 frozen banh bao! My friend's family comes to this place specifically to buy their banh Bao for family events and what not. That's commitment.

It was pretty dark and empty because they were going to close in an hour ish. The two ladies who work there were super friendly! My friend wanted to buy 21, and the lady in the back was like "why not get 24??? Buy the whole rack for only $2 more!!" She gave us quite a hook up and we were ecstatic. I guess it helps if you're young adults and speak fluent Vietnamese. Reasons why my friend's family keeps coming back for more!!

I started coming here many, many years ago. We used to pick up banh mi (buy 2, get 1 free) for lunch during the weeks and my mom and I would fawn over all of the different Vietnamese desserts. It's been several years since I've visited this wonderful place, but decided on a whim to come here because my friend and I were looking for some delicious che.

Perhaps it was because it was later in the day, but the selection seemed to be less than my memory of long ago, but the quality of the food, both, met and exceeded my memories of how good it all is.

It's a shame I'm not around east side San Jose that often anymore, but I'm sure I'll never stop coming here, even if it is a little while in between visits.

      Fresh hot baguettes - delicious!

They bake fresh, hot and delicious french and Vietnamese baguettes all day long. The best time to come here is around 12noon and 4PM daily. They are also famous for their Ban Mih Vietnamese sandwiches and they have several locations throughout San Jose and in Orange County down in Southern California.

If you are looking to buy fresh baguettes this is the place! They have them available in several sizes! If you are in the mood for the best Ban Mih Vietnamese sandwich - I recommend trying out "Phat Tri" first which is only a few blocks away. They have excellent Pâté spread!

      Cheers!

Came here on Monday, July 16th, 2018. We have ordered 3 banh mi cha lua which tasted good. We also order some other snacks as well.
      -Price: cost 4 bucks each.
-Staff: OK, he did not communicate much to customers.
Year after year, we notice they have less customers every time we stopped by to buying banh mi from them.

If I could give them a negative, I would. Lovely bread but I ordered a cold cut sandwich and they gave me a BBQ pork sandwich and a slice of steamed pork. I even brought it back and and she insisted that what I received was their cold cut. Failed!
