The Phad See Ew (with chicken and shrimp) came out piping hot with just the right amount of flavor and spice. If you're looking for a sweet and spicy, hearty meal, this is for you. Loads of delicious fresh stemed veggies and plenty of protein. Absolutely delicious!
The service was amazing as well!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Diana X.Fresno, CA22318Feb 13, 2024
So where do I start? I called to place an order at 5:00pm today. Was told my food will be ready in 20 mins. Got there at 5:25 pm. No one greeted me, I thought the couple sitting at the table in the front were guests but I'm guessing they are the owners. Yet they also didn't acknowledge me nor did they call someone over to help me. After a few minutes a server finally acknowledged me and checked on my order. She rung me up while I was waiting. Waited another 20 minutes and finally got my food. Luckily I checked my order because they forgot to give me one item.
The food was mediocre. Calamari needs more flavor but wasn't all that bad. The pad see ew beef needed more charring to have that stir fry taste. It had more of a chow fun taste. The beef nam tok was probably the better dish but the portion of meat was so little. If you like a plates full of garnishes, this is the place for you. The sticky rice portion was not worth the $4 in my opinion.
Lighting in this restaurant was so dark. From the outside, it looked like they were close. I really don't understand why the wait time for food was so long when there was literally no guest in the restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Greg S.Fresno, CA475916201Feb 6, 2024Updated review1 check-in
Boring, not very flavorful or interesting. The service was great and the bathroom seemed REALLY clean, but I came here looking for something special, done well and exotic. Unfortunately nobody ever mentioned that they don't put any spice in it unless you ask... would've been nice to have had this asked of me, " we offer spice on one to 10 level, would you like any spice?"
The special pineapple fried rice was dull as well ... two pieces of tough chicken and two small shrimp... it lacked flavor, spice, interest... absolutely should've had some curry powder and cilantro in there.. the meat in all the dishes was skimpy.
I hated the old chairs here as they cut your circulation off of the thighs .... These are much better!
The food checked some of the boxes, but just wasn't anything to get excited about. The value wasn't really here or the flavor which should permeate and stand out in even the most humble item. .. sticking with my favorite, Pad Thai!
-GHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 6, 2016Previous reviewPlease see my original posting. The food here is TOO sweeeet and if you're marketing a dental plan, this would be an ideal location.
I can't help but feel that folks are voting with their 'sweet tooth' and not really thinking about what they're are eating. It's like loving someone so much you never see anything bad in them.
Is this the case here? Love of SUGAR?
-GMay 20, 2014Previous reviewI guess I need to try this place another time. It was clean and the service was great. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable unless you're in the 90 lbs range. Frankly more suited for the Laos people (undernourished) but not the American public (over nourished). There's a bar that digs right into your thighs that basically makes you want to stand and eat or put a jacket under you. Otherwise you'll lose circulation to your legs! Perhaps it's a 'no lingering chair' adaptation designed so you don't overstay your welcome?
My seafood pad thai was not good at all. BLAND! It was all either hard rubber calamari or raw. This isn't a hard dish to make and would it have killed them to put a few shrimp in or scallops? I also ordered some Lao salad which tasted pretty earthy. It also had some 1" frog legs in it that I didn't eat. Ewh! Couldn't tell if it was supposed to be in there or hitched a ride...
I left feeling like I'd been cheated or tricked into eating something akin to a plop of noodles, a squirt of bland sauce with crappy calamari in it (which I didn't even eat!). Like some greedy Lao spirits were laughing in the mist at my poor choices.
Jipped!
Thai Tea is just a boat load of sugar, cream and tea wherever you get it. I'm not sure what folks mean when they say it's good. It's a glass full of liquid sugar!
Still, I'm going to give it another try now that they've been open for a while. I'll update my review then.

Tried this restaurant in Fresno for the 1st time a few days ago. We had 3 dishes : Lao sausage, laab chicken & phad ka pao with shrimp. All 3 were delicious. Will try the deep fried whole golden pompano on our next visit. The servers were friendly and very helpful.

This place was delicious. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken, pad see ew with beef, and fried rice with shrimp. They were all served fresh and very tasty. I also had the Thai iced tea which was not too sweet, which I enjoyed. Our server was attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place

We went into SabaiDee after our original dinner plans fell through. It's located in an inconspicuous strip mall on Bullard and First. The restaurant was on the smaller side, but had a great ambiance. We walked in during dinner rush, but the staff was quick to rearrange tables and accommodate our group of three. The staff was able to give us great recommendations and everyone was knowledgeable about their menu and what flavors we would like best.
We ordered the egg rolls, chicken pad thai, garlic chicken, khao phad ka pao. The 4 egg rolls (not pictured) were not the best I've had, but still enjoyable. The standouts were the khao phad ka pao (fried rice) and the pad thai. The flavors were amazing and the staff were sure to bring out extra condiments and sides for us if needed.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and were very eager to converse with us. We are so happy to find our new go-to spot for Thai food!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Elviever E.Santa Monica, CA56551Apr 18, 2024
Won't go there again. Only one person working besides the cook. She was swamp with orders. Kinda feel bad for the person serving. I love Thai food but this place is not to my liking. Place is okay. I don't mind small or tight place but as long as the food and service is good but that isn't the case.

Great service! The staff greets you in, leads you to your table, gives you the menu, and glasses of water get immediately served. It's a clean, casual place that's not very big but can accommodate at least 25 people at the same time. 5/5 for the service and cleanliness.
We're at Sabaidee in their busy hours so there's a bit of a wait for the food. Their tables were almost all occupied and there have been people coming in to pick up their orders. The restaurant must be pretty popular to be this busy at 5PM on a Monday!
The papaya salad looked good but unfortunately, it was bland. The wings were too dry and lacking flavor. The Isaan sausage was fine and the phad woon sen was ok. Overall, it's 2/5 for the food.
I've lived in Vientiane, Laos, and for years in Isaan in Thailand where Thai-Laotian cuisine is eaten everyday so I'm very familiar with the food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 27, 2023
SabaiDee is a family favorite spot in town. The spot can get busy at lunchtime. They're able to make any dish spicy (1-10).
For the food: Tom Yum Kung soup with clear broth is one of the best I've had. It's wonderful blend of lemongrass and galangal. The big pot easily serves 4-6 people and may have some to take home. The Lao style papaya salad has shrimp paste and fish sauce that gives its intense flavor. The Laab beef has options to set temp (medium rare), include tripe and toss with bitter or lime dressing. The fried banana is a great way to end the meal - perfect for party of four. It's fried with coconut flakes and topped with ice creamHelpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1892911688Apr 15, 2023
Service is meh. Once they've provided you with your drinks and food, you will be left to your own devices. I'd suppose what could alleviate the disparity in service expectations is to create a sign saying it's expected to raise your hand to flag down a server. But thems the breaks if you're not at a Hmong, Thai, or Vietnamese restaurant where consideration for service is higher on their priority list.
They will charge a $1.01 service fee for using a card versus cash.
After all the bad stuff being covered, I have found that there is still a level of consistency I. The quality of their foods and portions for pre to post COVID service. We still love their fried rice, phad see ew, phad lad nah, fried pork spare ribs, and fried Lao sausage.
Due to the interior being small and cramped, expect to be coughed on by your nearest patron.
All in all, I'd give them an optimistic 3.8 out of 5.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
