This is the place to go. The people are so nice, they are knowledgeable about the machines! They have wonderful fabrics and classes. The best are the amazing, truly amazing sewing machines. They also have on staff an incredible sewing machine repair person, Keith, he can repair anything for you he doesn't take a year. Don't bother with the big name places just come here. Save yourself a lot of grief and money.

I cannot imagine why more folks haven't reviewed this store - it's a wonderful place! I was hesitant to go there today because of the one bad review it had, but I couldn't have been more pleased with what I found. I went there because I needed replacement bobbin winder "tires" for treadle machines, and the friendly and helpful repair fellow not only had exactly what I needed but sold them to me for an excellent price (they would have cost at least four times what I paid plus shipping, if I'd gotten them on EBay).

They have a nice (although small) selection of quilting fabrics that they say they keep well circulated, always bringing in new designs, and I got some nice pieces from the 50% area, a good deal. :) They have sewing machine feet and notions, and I was able to pick up a low shank foot for my sister's treadle machine - again, a very reasonable price and no shipping to pay!

The owner not only has new, modern machines, but also has lovely vintage machines in the store, and her collection of working "toy" machines on the shelves above the fabric is enviable. :)

I highly recommend this shop for your sewing needs. :)

If your machine needs repair they offer excellent service. Everyone is friendly!
After purchasing 3 machines from them I don't hesitate to come back
The store also has fabric & sewing supplies for sale.

I would never recommend this store for anything having to do with sewing machines.
I took my machine to Woodburn sew and vac for a routine yearly cleaning on December 29, 2016. My machine was working fine. I was told that it would take two days for an estimate. I went in on December 31, 2016 and took my machine home. Snow was forecast and I wanted to use my machine while it was snowing. I did not get an estimate for the cleaning. I soon found that the tool box that attaches to my Babylock machine was missing with all the feet, screw drivers and miscellaneous tools including bobbins, scissors, etc. I called the store and was told that they did have the toolbox. I was very upset and also went to the store to enquire about the tool box. They made no effort to help me find it or help me with this problem. In a few days, I decided to use my machine for a few seams that needed to be sewn and found that I could not engage the machine to sew. The statement flashed on the sewing machine screen: "the safety device has been activated." I took the machine to the place I bought the machine and found that the motor as well as the power supply did not work. I had to pay over $400.00 to get a new motor and power supply and some items that I needed for basic sewing. I got my machine back on February 9th.
Again, I would never recommend this store for any things having to do with a sewing machine.

      First to Review

I had a really bad experience trying to get my sewing machine repaired here about 18 months ago and thought my Yelp review was published but apparently it was not.

The woman who was in the shop didn't bother to greet me until I put my machine on the counter. She seemed uninterested in my business but did take my info and my explanation of the problem. She offered no estimate of the repair cost. After a week, I called her when she didn't bother to call me to ask after the progress of the repair. It was still in pieces in the back room and they wanted over $100 to replace the bobbin case, clean it, and adjust the timing. For a mechanical sewing machine...not a computerized one! I do not think so! I told her I was coming in to pick up my machine and would find another repair shop. I had to wait for the sort of odd repair guy to put it all back together, even though I waited a couple hours to stop by. Neither of them were very happy with me...rather unprofessional...although he did carry my machine out to my car for me. I wound up buying a new, computerized machine for $150 from Joann's. If you need your machine fixed, go to Whitlock's in Salem!
