GREAT FOOD, NEW OWNERS, COMPLETELY REMODELED.
I used to go to school in Aurora and would stop by Runaway when I had the chance. I haven't been there in a bit but wow, it looks amazing! The food is delicious and the menu has new items (if that was even possible with their already large menu). I also like that the food comes out quickly and the portions are larger than many other restaurants especially for the price.
The new owners are great and really believe in quality customer service. They also put in a lot of work remodeling the inside and outside the building and it looks great. 10/10 recommend and if you haven't been there for a while, I suggest checking it out again because it's like a completely new place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - James T.Wheaton, IL6810May 30, 2022
Do what the name states.... RUN AWAY!
Dirty, stinky (sewer odors in dining area).
This place is now called Kappy's. Changing the name doesn't help if your food and service is "Krappy"..Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tim H.Lombard, IL3688189469Apr 18, 2019
I was craving a gyro and this spot came up on a search. After reading all the praise for them, I came in. Not a very busy lunch spot, granite it was 1:30pm.
My gyro sandwich was served pipping hot and the meat was very juicy. I was tempted to order the onion rings, but I had my fill of them yesterday.
I certainly would consider a return visit. Plenty of TV's for your favorite sports team too.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dan S.Arlington Heights, IL4163Feb 27, 2022
This place is not worth the hype. This restaurant would be acceptable if you lived 100 miles from the the next town and this were the only restaurant in yours. Very bland, everything is pre made , and very basic (almost too basic) food that seems thoughtless. Nice staff, but that's about it. If you're looking for amazing phillys, burgers, dogs, fries etc... look no further than Bruno's

I used to love this place. It is now called Kappys. Stopped in a couple of nights ago and ordered a Gyro. It was the worst Gyro I have ever had. The meat was dry, crusty and terribly cut in thick chunks. The meat I was served should have gone in the trash, Just terrible. Our waitress was great. Not sure I will give this place a 2nd chance

Very nice tucked away family gem!
Food is solid and bar is nice in a supper clubby / north woods kind of vibe. I will definitely be backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Edward C.Batavia, IL010Nov 27, 2018
This is our place to go for gyros. the meat is done perfectly and sliced with a real knife not an electric gizmo. The slices are thick and juicy and there is a generous portion to enjoy. I would prefer the tzatziki sauce to be a tad more liquid along with a touch more garlic, but it's still better than most places that are serving gyros. Coming from the east many years ago we were used to pita bread that was hollow because it puffed up when baked. We have yet to find that around here. Neither of these comments are negative, just the difference from one area to another.
The staff is friendly and efficient and the establishment is comfortable and welcoming. But the bottom line is:
We've found no other place that does gyros quite as well as the Run-A -Way.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Eli H.Aurora, IL240363131Jul 28, 2015
Run-A-Way is the total stereotypical dive bar/restaurant, and I mean that in the best way possible. Coors Light and Miller flow like water, the menu is filled with greasy Chicago staples like hot dogs, gyros, along with just about anything that's vaguely acceptable to toss into a deep fryer (The jalapeño poppers in specific are real great). The people watching is fantastic too, between the people who hang out at the bar and the folks nearby pumping a shocking amount of money into the slot machines.
Everyone who works at Run-A-Way is supremely friendly, and their prices are ridiculously low. It's totally possible to get dinner for two with drinks and walk out for under $25 with tip- Even less if you're willing to commit to a pitcher instead of buying beers by the pint. It's turned in to one of my favorite places in the area to go to.
Oh, and definitely try their sub sandwiches. I know, it sounds weird getting a sub from a place like this, but they're mind-blowing. Actually, the same can be said for just about everything I've gotten there.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - David S.North Aurora, IL012Jun 18, 2019
Quality, Service, Price all get 5 stars. Family owned and operated and it shows. They care about your experience and go out of their way to earn your business. You will not be disappointed.

Best service....great down & dirty relaxing bar. Extremely nice customers & the owner/ manager is a "hockey guy" & super friendly. I am a connoisseur of Gyros & you can't go wrong with what they are serving up here.
