This place is legendary! Service is excellent food is typical diner fare. Bathrooms are DISGUSTING! Like seriously disgusting. I'd feel more comfortable going In the woods out back behind the building than taking my chances of catching something from a toilet seat. Place could use an update badly, but when you're hungry and you're driving upstate this is the place to go!

Terrible food, meatloaf was smothered in gravy. Meat tasted like roadkill!! My sister omelette with mushrooms left her sick all afternoon. Please have the waitress wash her apron it should have warned me, it was disgustingly dirty!!!!

The Roscoe Diner is well known for many reasons, mainly because it sits in the middle of nowhere in a rural area with its own restaurant, and nothing else, located directly off Route 17 (future I-86), making it extremely convenient for travelers, including, college students, locals, even fishermen, and vacation travelers, etc.
We were seated upon entering, not too busy, and had great customer service. There were enough workers that kept the flow going, and it was perfect considering the time.
The menu has a variety to offer, and they do have an all-day breakfast for those who love it. The chicken wrap parm caught my eye, which I personally never heard of, and its flavor was tasty and cooked right. I was impressed by how it came out.
The atmosphere is touching, and the interior definitely speaks for itself, old school and original. I'm sure it had its renovation here and there. I find it pretty cool how they have college banners hanging all over the place.
Been open since the 1960s, and it's famous for a reason - get to it!!Helpful 12Thanks 2Love this 9Oh no 0 - May 21, 2023
Went here on a busy Sunday while driving around the area. My mother remembered the tender calamari she had years back and wanted to try it again. We were seated immediately and was advised that a server will be right with us, but not immediately since another group was seated before us. I found that odd but yet impressed at that little touch of service. Our waitress too was very attentive and excellent. I would say service was pretty fast considering the amount of people who were there, not an extensive wait for food.
Nothing new to expect, it's a diner with an array of choices. We tried the calamari but it was a little on the chewy side. The fish sandwich and chicken tenders were just plain, nothing excited to talk about.
If you happen to be in the area and want diner food, then consider this spot for your choices.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 26, 2023
Was in the area for a mini weekend away from the city so we came for lunch on a Monday. When we arrived, there were a good amount of people already dining and more came as we ate and left.
We ordered the fried french toast, a burger, and a monte cristo sandwich. The portions of everything was huge - everything tasted decent, like what diner foods should taste like. The fried french toast was really thick but pretty desirable the first few bites. Then it got a bit too heavy. One order comes with three pieces, we ate just 1 and took two to go. The burger my husband ordered was huge- I didn't try but he said it was decent. The monte cristo I ordered was ham and turkey sandwiched between slices of french toast with a thick slab of melted cheese on top. It was HEAVY. I ate half and couldnt finish the rest.
Overall, food was you typical diner food- we didnt go in expecting much so certainly did not come out disappointed.
The interior of the diner reminds me a lot of the Hilary Duff version of Cinderella ha. Lots of college flags up on the walls around the entire diner.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3721890159May 17, 2023
A middle of nowhere throwback oasis. The Roscoe Diner looks and feels like a diner of yesteryear and like most mile wide, inch deep menus, stick with the basic palate of breakfast favorites, sandwiches and burgers. You've been warned, try the surf and turf at your own risk but the good news is that service has always been smooth and efficient.
The Roscoe Diner is the diner template done almost to perfection and deserves an easy five stars. Pro tip... order the French Toast.Helpful 19Thanks 4Love this 12Oh no 0 - Phil T.NC, NC084Apr 14, 2024
As others have said, this is a historic Diner with a diner menu with a few surprises. I had the Bacon Jam Cheeseburger which was a great tasting multi-napkin burger. I traded the French fries for coleslaw and if you like a creamy style coleslaw, it was great. The Diner serves Roscoe Brewing beers and I had their Red Ale and it's the equal of the North Carolina Red Ales I've had. My server was Savannah and she was great. Decor is old school Diner and could be refreshed. This will continue to be my lunch stop going to or from the Finger Lakes.

My boyfriend and I were traveling upstate and stopped here for dinner. It is famous for being the middle point of NYC and Western NY.
I ordered the Happy Waitress sandwich. It's a classic and one of my favorite things at a diner...grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. Simple, yes....but absolutely delicious.
It came with fries and a pickle. While looking over the menu I noticed on the menu "French Fry Corner." It had different types of loaded fries on the menu. I ended up upgrading my fries to pizza fries. These fries were topped with the most delicious marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. SO DELICIOUS. The marinara was chunky and full of flavor. Definitely not out of a jar.
My boyfriend ordered the Open Reuben Burger. It was a burger topped with corned beef, pastrami, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. He also opted for a side of breakfast sausage as diner breakfast sausage hits different.
He also upgraded his fries. He went with Mediterranean fries. These fries were out of this world delicious! The fries came topped with feta, tomatoes, kalamata olives, basil, mozzarella cheese and a pesto Mayo. The flavor combinations were magical.
To upgrade to the speciality fries was only a $1.14 upcharge! For everything and a soda the bill came out to $33. Not bad at all and very reasonable.
Definitely stop here in your travels!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - 13174575Feb 22, 2023
I'm so sad to say I was so disappointed by Roscoe Diner. I was in Upstate NY and decided to stop into Roscoe Diner and was very underwhelmed. Our server was great and so attentive (and you could tell she was so busy) so that was greatly appreciated especially for a large group during lunch time. The ambiance was very classic old school diner with college flags all around which I have to admit was very cool. The food though was just not good. The turkey in the turkey club was always gray and incredibly dry - yuck.
