Location wise this place is 5 stars, right across from Jeanette's Pier & the beach. With views from the balcony of the sound to your right and the ocean to your left. There's a breakfast place to the left of this place & a decent ice cream place to the right. There's also a deli across the street.
I'm giving them 3 stars because the rooms NEED/should be updated. This is the perfect place to crash after a day at the beach & the bathroom was a decent size, however the sink was located on the outside of the bathroom. The beds were not the most comfortable I have ever been in but it was fine for our one night stay. The room was clean and there was a decent sized TV. There was a refrigerator and microwave in our room.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aaron S.Finleyville, PA8216Jul 6, 2016
We stay here every year on our way to Ocracoke from Pittsburgh PA so that we don't am have to do the drive on Saturday. This year we stayed two nights.
My only complaint is that this year the beds were a bit sagging and worn and the carpets in our room were filthy but otherwise this great little place is good for our needs.
We will be back next year for 1 night before our OINC trip.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ceci C.Saint Petersburg, FL9355Jul 27, 2018
Clean room but smelled a little moldy. Also, please invest in new sheets. Very scratchy and horrible comforters. Cheap for the location, but it could be so much better

Floors dirty, no parking, housekeeping must not be included in the ridiculously over priced rooms.

This is one of the cleanest, nicest motels I've ever stayed at. I don't know about all of the rooms, but ours had clearly been renovated not very long ago and looked nice and updated -- nice tile in the bathroom, etc. The motel is right across the street from the beach and Jeanette's Pier, and even the basic rooms have a fridge and microwave, which was really nice.
My only (small) complaint is that the door needed better weatherstripping at the bottom; temperature wasn't a problem but sand getting in was. The rest of the room was spotless, but the floors ended up getting a little sandy because of the door. The fact that the door isn't sealed properly also means noises from outside are pretty audible -- it wasn't loud or anything, but if you're a light sleeper, earplugs wouldn't be a bad idea.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carrie C.San Francisco, CA490225132May 12, 2012
Honestly Rodeway Inn is nicer than some other motels in the area, but it's still not good. The room smelled overwhelmingly like bleach, which we spun to be a positive thing because the room was at least clean. However, it was not so great when I brought my clothes into the bathroom to take a shower and ALL of my clothes got irreparable streaks of bleach all over them!
The remote for the TV didn't work. Breakfast was disappointing, but at least it's free.
So overall, not a great experience. Still two stars though because the next night motel stay at a different establishment was even worse.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim D.Holly Springs, NC025Sep 10, 2016
I travel on business throughout eastern NC and spend 2 - 3 nights in hotels. I usually stay in Holiday Inn or Hilton hotels. I decided to try this hotel mainly for the location.
When I had to re-schedule, which happens often in my line of work, I cancelled my reservation within the allowable time of the agreement but I got charged full amount anyway. I had planned to stay there once I got my dates to return confirmed but by then my company had already paid the bill and warned me to be careful with my expenses.
I'll stay with the brands I can trust even if they're not always the greatest.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Skeeter M.Chicago, IL034Aug 9, 2010First to Review
Avoid this motel. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Josh, a lazy, disinterested, distracted excuse for a desk clerk. He has the professional demeanor of a dead jellyfish.
We had a minor issue with our room and he acted like he couldn't be bothered to help us. He said he would 'get to it' as soon as he finished the 500 other things he had to take care of behind the counter. While waiting for him to acknowledge me I overheard him negotiating a much more favorable room rate with a good ole boy from Ahoskie--seems they were cut from the same cloth so his rate dropped by about $60 in a matter of seconds. After we moved to a different room we spotted him mixing it up with the guests in cottage 2. Is Josh a relative?
We felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. We also wondered if our car would be safe in the parking lot. Avoid this motel.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michael M.Grosse Pointe, MI20254Aug 28, 2012
The roadway inn is a great value for the price! We had a great experience with the owner and staff. We were greeted with smiles and attentiveness. This property is directly across the street from Jeannette's pier and beautiful, clean family beaches. I found most other properties in the area to be of equivalent quality but twice the price. The motel is pet friendly also! Room 212 has a beautiful view. I will stay here again next year.

I had a wonderful stay here over the weekend.. It was so clean and I loved the looks of the room the style all of it.. I loved that Jeanette's Pier was right across the street and the beach too. A very nice resturant right next door Sam and Omie's.. I would stay here again!
