Closer to a 4.5/5.
Authentic, solid spot for Thai in Brookline.
They had large portions of beef in the boat noodle soup and the broth was hot and flavorful. I loved the added textures from the Chinese broccoli and beansprouts. Wish it was a little bit spicier, more garlicky, and less acidic. But still a really solid bowl of boat noodle.
The mango sticky rice was so yummy. Warm, creamy, and subtly sweet sticky rice. Complimented gracefully by the sweet/sour from the mango and nuttiness from the sesame seeds. Presentation was also beautiful.
Not pictured, but I also highly recommend the Indonesian Fried Rice. It is incredibly umami and comes with a fried chicken cutlet as well.
So unique and delicious. Server was friendly. Will be coming back for sure.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 17, 2023
we were in the area of brookline and figured we will stop by here for lunch in person. we have gotten take out before, we got the pad thai and the Indonesian fried rice. the fried rice was really good, thats why we got it again. but the pad thai was blah. the wings were flavorful but im not sure if they microwave the wings or i had a fluke but there was a part of one of the drum sticks that was really cold. I had to use my fingers to feel if it was actual cold or it was me, but one part was definitely cold. we would come back here again for the fried rice for sure.

TLDR: Food and service were both excellent. Ordered Pad Sew You, Mango Crispy Chicken, Avocado Curry, and Hot Thai Basil Pork stir fry. Would recommend all of them. Drinks were: Hot Thai tea, Thai milk tea boba, brown sugar milk, and Nom Yen (pink milk made from salak and kind of tastes like strawberry laffy taffy).
Went for dinner on Monday night so we were one of the few people eating in the restaurant but it was very nice and clean inside. The server was extremely nice and helpful. We ordered the above items and all came out very quick with pretty generous portion sizes especially for Thai food. The pad sew you and Thai basil pork were very solid dishes, nothing crazy special but really really good still. The avocado curry was a table favorite and was different than most Thai curries we have had with the avocado and coconut creme but it was so good and refreshing. My favorite was the mango chicken which was very delicious with a lot of pieces of chicken. Finished all of our food and everyone was very surprised with how good the food was. Definitely a must try if you are in the area and craving some good Thai food for a great value.
Update: Went back again recently and got the mango sticky rice and it was amazing!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Dec 3, 2021
Love this place! I normally get take out and it is always good but the last time, I ate it there and they had a sign saying new management - full service. They have certainly stepped it up! The plating was much nicer and the food was tastier. Also A++ for the presentation of the Thai ice tea - very original!
We got the tom yum noodle soup and pad see ew with a side of crispy chicken and it was all delicious. Highly recommend this spot!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Daniel T.Brookline, MA2922132Oct 22, 2023
I had a disappointing experience at this Thai food restaurant. The food is inconsistent; it can be better or worse depending on the day. The service is abysmal - one staff member (a young asian lady) took away our large to-go bag from underneath the table, seemingly for reuse. When I requested it back, she insinuated that since we had eaten some of the food, we no longer needed a big paper bag and handed us a small plastic one. After insisting on the paper bag, she gave us a tiny brown bag and warned that she could only provide one. We spent over $60 and didn't expect this level of rudeness and cheapness from the staff. We left in disappointment, and will probably not be back.

Ordered take out / delivery 4 times from this place. Generally, I go for the Pad Thaï, not the best quality, the photos are far from the reality, but the location is convenient for us.
Last order was yesterday (Pad Woon Sen) and it will be my last. I had severe stomach pain and I got sick. Once before I didn't feel well after a pad thaï but it didn't last long. Never again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - M W.Chestnut Hill, Chestnut Hill, MA09Jul 16, 2023
Good fresh Thai food. Had the fried rice, kra pho pork and papaya salad.
Will eat here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Noah L.Palo Alto, CA38848113Feb 5, 2022
It seems as though a majority of thai food in Boston is quite good and Is' Original is no exception to that.
I ordered Is' Original through delivery and got their panang curry with tofu and tom yum soup.
The tom yum soup had a nice mixture of heat and sourness that went well with the mushroom, shrimp, and tomatoes in the soup.
The panang curry was really good with nice amount of heat combined with the creaminess of the curry and the combination of a large quantity of vegetables including carrots, peas, and bamboo shoots.
Overall, the flavors of the dishes were great and the pricing is more than reasonable and I look forward to trying the other dishes here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 395022011Apr 13, 2022
A pretty good Thai place along Beacon St near Washington Square. I ordered online and pickup was quick. I got Crispy chicken pad Thai, pad see ew, BBQ pork, broccoli & pork, and Hawaiian fried rice. All of the dishes were good and well cooked, nothing too oily or too dry. There were more crispy chicken pieces than expected for the pad Thai, which was great for sharing. The most interesting dish was the Hawaiian fried rice because there were so many components to it. From the mango and pineapple to the crunchy cashews there was a lot of flavor in the dish. The pad see ew noodles were cooked well and didn't stick together in one lump. The bbq pork was cooked well and the sauce added a different flavor than I am used to eating. Overall, if you're looking for an affordable Thai meal in Brookline you can definitely check this place out.

Wow! Very authentic and delish Thai food gem! I was so glad that every other restaurant turned us away because I had my dog with me. If they didn't, then I wouldn't have found this place. The pad thai, pad see ew and the pad kra pao (ground pork) was just so awesome! I hope this place stays in business because I am sure it kicks every other hoytie toytie place around there.
Friendly owners is a huge plus as they brought some water out for our pups too!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
