Seriously...C was in a rush and so we came here to get Froyo.
OMG disgusting and the set up is retarded. Why put the toppings all the way on the other side.
I had pistachio and Georgia Peach - NO STARS!
Never ever again!
I guess 1 star for the variety of organic bottled drinks!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Fallopia T.Manhattan, NY4957471270Nov 12, 2010First to Review
I walked into the new Roastown Coffee, a Korean-owned coffee-teria on the corner of St. Mark's and Second Avenue in a space recently vacated by Pizzanini and once occupied by the Gap.
I asked if they had any vegan options--they don't, among all the foodstuffs they sell. They're also the latest offering among the plethora of fro-yo vendors in the nabe. When they start serving up vegan frozen yogurt, I'll be the first in line, but until then the only thing for me is decaf coffee with soymilk.

The place is clean & bright...
We ordered a cheesecake yogurt & the green tea bubble tea. The tapioca is small, a bit hard to chew, not soft... the flavor was just okay. The cheesecake yogurt was alright, pretty decent, not sweet enough but it wasn't bad. You can add your own toppings.
The bubble tea is a bit pricey. The cheesecake yogurt & the green tea bubble tea, all total, we spent close to $11...Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela K.New York, NY448867188Sep 16, 2011
I feel bad that his place has such bad reviews..
Coffee was standard, not horrible. I liked that the atmosphere was so casual that I would feel comfortable reading/loitering here without purchasing much. Very casual metal table/chair seating with VERY bright lighting.
I tried the red velvet, pistachio, and peanut butter frozen yogurts. I was surprised to read someone describe theirs as icy.. maybe the sorbets or fruity flavors are? Mine was just the opposite, some of the creamiest froyo I've had. It got a little bit melty immediately, I didn't really mind.
I really liked the red velvet. Crumbled peanut butter fudge as a topping was amazing and went perfectly with the PB yogurt!
I wouldn't go out of my way for the froyo but its ok if you happen to already be here for some other reason.
If you like fruity or tart yogurt, and/or fruit toppings, I would stick to a fro-yo only spot with quicker turnover which usually leads to fresher toppings.
I saw someone with a bubble tea that didn't look half bad.. I do love The Spot right down the street, but their drinks tend to be small and overpriced. This place might be a decent night-time alternative after the spots $5 boba&cupcake combo is over.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lena Y.Staten Island, NY341113121Feb 13, 2012
Came here a few times as a last resort coffee spot since there is always seating and free WiFi. Coffee served here is quite conventional, nothing special. All cakes, muffins, cupcakes and cookies behind the counter looked stale as if it had been sitting there for weeks.
My boyfriend and a friend tried the three layer chocolate cake. Watching their forceful digs were quite tiresome. Eating cake should not require so much work.
There's also a yogurt station along the back wall and a menu dedicated to bubble tea. I suppose these items are not their specialties as I've witnessed unhappy customers complain on their purchases.
Sticking to coffee is the surest bet.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiffany C.New York, NY4881620Jul 13, 2012
Worst. "Establishment." EVER.
How this place is still up and "running" is beyond me. WARNING: DO NOT WASTE YOUR $ HERE.
Not only do their cashiers make up whatever prices they want for items - CLEARLY LISTED ON THE MENU - but their "chefs" make incorrect orders AFTER receiving a written note. I ordered a 2 eggs&cheese on whole wheat toast and grabbed a bottled tropicana which turned out to be $6 and CHANGE. Okay, fine. It's the morning and I'm i'm in a rush. Turns out, I receive a whole wheat/white (not sure) bagel with 1 egg and no cheese. Sorry, but it completely ruined my morning. Not only did I overpay, but for something that was disgusting, didn't even taste good. The morning workers are out of it and by the looks of the previous reviews - I should've known better. WOW. Just wow.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Veronica R.New York, NY3596Jan 1, 2011
My boyfriend and I wandered in here searching for a good cup of coffee and decided to get some frozen yogurt as well.
The frozen yogurt was meh at best. 16 Handles is better, as are many other "pay as you go" froyo places at St. Marks.
Boyfriend's coffee wasn't bad, but I asked the girl for a peppermint mocha and she looked at me like I was insane before saying "we don't have peppermint. we have hazelnut?"
Fine, no problem. Got a plain old mocha. Tasted like a Dunkin' Donuts mocha, also known as "some coffee with some chocolate syrup thrown in there."
Atmosphere was horrible, people were cramped and ended up having 3 people standing behind our table talking loudly while they waited for their drinks.
In short, there's a million other places to go to in New York, and I intend to take full advantage of that.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christine Y.New York, NY341328Feb 23, 2011
Rating for froyo only
Not as creamy as I would like. A bit icy. Raspberry, vanilla and cookies & cream are good. The other flavors not so much. Toppings didn't seem fresh. Mango tasted like it's been sitting and mochi was stale.
Service was great. The cashier made conversation and had a great attitude.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Min F.Corona, NY55Apr 29, 2015
Worst place ever! Tried ice cream, do the waiters actually work here? Omg bad service, worst taste, nothing is good. No wonder so many empty seats

I finally got to try out the hot drinks here, and here are my favorites:
cafe latte: this hot drink is for people who dislike very sweetened coffee and/or bitter, burnt coffee. The drink is creamy and just right for my taste buds.
mocha cafe: This drink is best after a hard day at work, a walk on a cold, winter day, or a need to satisfy sweet indulgence. This drink is deliciously sweet, but not too sugary sweet.
regular coffee: Unlike most coffee drinks that I get, the coffee that I get at Roastown has a great rich aroma and bold taste. It doesn't have a burnt aftertaste which I abhor so much.
hot chocolate: rich. smooth. perfect. It hits the spot every time. I love it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 6, 2010Previous reviewThe frozen yogurt is delicious here.
Roastown Coffee has a lot of flavors like original, mango, raspberry, watermelon, blueberry, and chocolate flavored yogurt. There is a fruit/candy topping station where you can add toppings into your frozen yogurt. Plus, you pay for how much you put in your cup! You pay the frozen yogurt by weight, so you can get as much as you want, based on how much it weighs.
I haven't tried the coffee yet, but the small coffee shop smells wonderful delicious every time I walk in for my frozen yogurt fix. I'll grab some coffee before I start my day ;)
