We have been here three times now and not only do I adore our server, but the food is top notch. The politeness, friendliness and over all conversation if this server make this restaurant what it is.
The beans are made without lard and they are full of flavor, carne asada and camarones al la crema (try it spicy) are to die for! Our server (I wish I knew her name) has made excellent recommendations. I really have enjoyed every experience here.
My daughter is a bean burrito girl and she has eaten the whole thing every time. She likes that it doesn't come covered in cheese.
We will keep coming back, and I will get our servers name next time for sure! :-)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Paul D.Parkland, WA1248275Dec 6, 2010First to Review
The food is good, the service is prompt, the staff is friendly and courteous. I could actually taste some tequila in the margarita (unlike many of the other local Mexican restaurants where they put in very little tequila).

The minute you sit down with a menu, the staff is constantly pestering you to order. After we were pushed into making a rush decision off of a very large and unfamiliar menu, a gal dropped by our table and left a pitcher of water and 2 plastic cups to serve ourselves. She didn't even bother to pour our first cups. While we waited for our food, we were served chips, refried beans and salsa. The chips were unseasoned, the beans were warm and the salsa had distinct heat with little flavor.
We finished an entire basket of chips waiting for our food. When we finally did receive our combination chicken and steak fajitas. They were deplorable. The chicken and steak pieces were very small, under seasoned and severely overcooked. The onions were also overcooked to the point of being slimy. The accompanying plate of rice, beans, guacamole and sour cream were just as disappointing. The guacamole had no flavor, the sour cream tasted off, and the rice tasted dirty.
The only other patrons in the restaurant were a troop of children using the dining area as their own personal play room and track for running back and forth.
The waiter never came back to check on us after dropping off our food. The only time he came by was to drop off the check and told us to have a good evening, which we assumed meant we had to pay at the front counter.
Horrible food, horrible and lazy service, terrible atmosphere.

Great food and super super friendly service. I had the green enchiladas with shredded beef. They were tasty and well priced. The server was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be helping us! We will be back for sure. Good people here!!

Usually liked this place , hadn't been here in a few years but today horrible .
I ordered pollo el crema and my chicken was completely raw ,pink &rubbery .
The lady asked if I wanted them to cook it omg!! Made me feel like I had a problem as if I was just being picky when I was in more shock thinking how sick I could have got . In the end you would have thought they would have done something about it take it off the bill or send the Manger out some kind of apology.. I guess if u want salmonella then you should go there ..Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Corianne B.Tacoma, WA82611115Feb 16, 2013
I wasn't going to post anything, because I hate writing bad reviews (unless I'm really, really ticked), but then I read another review below that talked about getting sick after dining here.
I did, too.
I don't even remember what I had, but I remember having the worst two days to follow. This location has changes names/ownership many times. I would definitely suggest going elsewhere for your Mexican fix...

Not exactly the best Mexican food around albeit not the worst either (ahem, Mazatlan) . The bean dip w/the complimentary tortilla chips is a nice touch. The margarita had great flavor but at $9, there should've been more than just a splash of tequila.
I can see where the reviewer is coming from who said the food was a little bland. They were being WAY to kind. Pass the Tapatio, please. You can get more authentic food at one of those Mexican roach coaches. So I say, piquito bueno. Certainly not muy bueno.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gigi L.Tacoma, WA2310246Apr 13, 2015
It was my first time to this restaurant with my family. We were hoping for powerful punches of flavors from their meals. Unfortunately, all of our meals were lacking flavors. Maybe it's our tastebuds?
We had tacos, burritos, enchiladas, beans, rice, and lots more. I'd have to say that the only thing I liked was their chips and salsa.
The service was okay -- we were seated at a table that still needed some cleaning. There was bits of refried beans on the edge of the table and on the booth seat. Also, we ran out of water and sat there waiting for our cups to be refilled. Sadly, our water never got refilled. I tried to stop to ask the water to get it refilled, but the server obviously did not hear me the first time and the second time he clearly forgot.
Then again, he was the only waiter/server that day and he had two other large parties and a couple of smaller parties to serve.
Unfortunately, I will not be returning.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amanda D.Seattle, WA1322Aug 4, 2012
Brought my son here for dinner on our way home from Graham a evening a couple weeks ago, from the time we walked in to the time we left we had a great experience.
Our waitor was PePe, he was awesome with my 6 year old son, joking with him and playing around with him, he made my son feel important which is hard to find now days. This is the place he always wants to go back when when he wants Mexican, too bad it is so far.
The food was good, my son ate EVERYTHING on his plate and that happens very rarely. I do got to say the beans they give with the chips and salsa are a great additive especially for people who can't eat spicy foods, I only got a couple taste as my son pigged them down, he said they tasted soooooooo good. I was surprised to see when they brought us a couple glasses of water they also brought a pitcher of water that they left at the table. To me that is a great thing, I wish more places would do that instead of waiting for someone to come buy and ask if we needed more water.
Overall our experience was terrific, we will definitly be back next time we are in the area.
Thanks PePe for being so great with my son and making him feel important in the resturaunt.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Debbie H.Puyallup, WA313Sep 16, 2013
Visited for lunch right at Noon. This was my second visit in the past couple of months.
The food was excellent. Fresh, hot, appetizing in appearance.
The restaurant was clean, the employees were also very clean and neat in appearance.
Prices are very reasonable.
I cannot understand why this restaurant isn't loaded to capacity.
The atmosphere is very nice and the food is good.
I will be going here more often in the future.
Our service was fast, friendly, and the wait staff pleasant.
I highly recommend Rio Blanco.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
