Best sushi in town! They have upped their game with updated menus and a new host - who is absolutely on top of it and super friendly. We love to sit at the bar and watch them make our rolls right in front of us! Rocky Cove is my favorite- it has just enough kick and is so unique and delicious! The Lulu is also a favorite of mine and the rest of my family - you should definitely try it. The sushi is always super fresh and the miso soup is amazing!

Aug 26, 2017Previous reviewLet me start by saying that the food is absolutely amazing here. Our kids even love it and request it specifically for birthdays or other celebrations. Service is usually 3 stars at best. Food is 5 stars most days. We have been here probably 100 times and it's always been mostly wonderful. We went twice this week and the service was not great. We were very disappointed. We had to wait a long time to get any part of our order. Lunch was the worst on Thursday. They were severely understaffed and it took 20 minutes before we got our sushi setup at the bar and were able to order drinks. We had to wait for long periods of time before getting our food also, and the food was subpar at best. The few rolls we were able to get didn't stay together. It has never been like this. Usually we are in and out of the restaurant in 40 minutes tops. We definitely did not get our money's worth at lunch. We were there for over an hour and barely got 5 rolls between the 3 of us. Dinner was better. The sushi tasted better than lunch on Thursday and was presented nicer. However, they were still understaffed and it took a long time to get our food. I'm not sure what happened to the friendly faces we are used to seeing at Rickshaw, but they weren't there this week. The sushi chef realized we were getting annoyed tonight and apologized that it took so long to get our food. It was definitely a let down, especially for my sons birthday dinner. We will try Rickshaw one more time as we have been coming here for years, but if they continue on this downward spiral, we will have to find a new favorite in town.

The thing I like about this place is it's a great price for all you can eat for lunch $15.95. That's about $5 cheaper than most places. You get choice of appetizers, soup and that's included and although there are limits on some items I think it's still a lot for the money.
The sushi quality itself is hit or miss. Sometimes it's really quite good other times it's average. I've never had anything bad here just sometimes food has an average taste.
The service is usually very fast. There's no frills about it, but I mean its sushi what service do you really need other than drinks? No this isn't my favorite sushi in town BUT for the price it scores pretty highly for me. And generally I leave full and pretty happy with what I've eaten.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 4192671375Sep 15, 2019
My new quest is to try new sushi restaurants. Rickshaw was on the list. It's a small location off Longley lane. We went on a Friday around noon. Easy to get a seat. Restaurant only half full. Menu looked good. We did AYCE lunch for $17.95. Seemed reasonable. We ordered nigiri salmon and snapper both tasted fresh and melted in your mouth. It seems this restaurant is a bit heavy on rice portions. Next rolls were pearl, rukki and 49ers. All fish tasted fresh. But, again very heavy on the rice. Overall service was attentive and fish was tasty...

When I am craving sushi for lunch, this is my go to place! just down the street and they are fast and friendly.
Good deal for 16.99 lunch AYCE. There is usually a special roll of the day on the poster board.
I have asked and they said they will do half rolls if there is something you want to try but are not sure of.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 25, 2020
The reviews here weren't great, but my friends had been in a couple times and they said they enjoyed it, so we decided to have dinner here. The new building they moved into is a really weird space. The ceilings, lighting, and decor are all very industrial and kind of made it hard to relax.
The waiter was trying to personable I think, but we came off as trying way too hard and took his witty banter a bit too far at times. This made us trying to avoid interaction with him, which isn't a great relationship to have with the person who is waiting on you.
The food was okay, I wasn't too impress send with the selection of rolls they offered and the cuts on the sushi wet re super inconsistent. However, the sushi was rolls fairly tight and the salmon nigiri was very fresh a small melted in my mouth. Overall, the $27.95 for dinner was definitely not worth it. Possibly a better value at lunchtime at $17.95.
Even the friends who brought me in agreed that the food wasn't as good and that the uncomfortable service got worse every time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 3, 2019
My bf and I came here yesterday evening and the place was pretty dead. Yet our table, both of the menus were sticky (some had teriyaki sauce in it) I'm not trying to be critical about that especially when the place is busy, but it wasn't. Cleanliness is part of ambiance and it makes a big statement about your restaurant. Also, right when we walked in they never greeted us whatsoever...
We had the rickshaw 2 roll, k-love roll, salmon nigiri, and hamachi nigiri, which all of them were okay.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paul S.Maricopa, AZ2239158510939Apr 14, 2018
April 13, 2018 Friday - 1 PM for lunch
2 Adults
Atmosphere - 4 stars
Drinks - 4 stars
Service - 4 stars
Background - Sushi Time!
Atmosphere - The place is kinda weird. Industrial with attempts of something that looks incomplete. Sat at the sushi bar so that worked for me.
Food
Drinks - Just water, unless you count the egg roll shooter.
Lunch - Had a good variety of lunch rolls. The price for lunch was very fair. Rukki had some great color and was probably the best roll of the day. The Rukki is spicy tuna which is always a favorite of mine, along with avocado, and shrimp on top. I was expecting whole shrimps, do not know why as that seems impractical. Thinly sliced shrimp covered the top of the roll.
Service - Must of the time there we had our own chef. They had three ladies working in the bar area.
Future - Sure.Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Mark S.Citrus Heights, CA012242May 8, 2019
Hate to give poor reviews and I don't very often but this place was disappointing. I was the only one here there and it was close to 6pm. That should have been the first bad sign. A few others came in over the next hour but very slow.
Wasn't a super clean environment. The bar finish was sticky. They need to fix that. Feels dirty even though it may not be... but who can tell? Soy sauce bottles where sticky and gross. Always concerning when the front of the house is dirty. I always assume back of the house is worse.
Sushi lacked flavor. A lot of rice. Very small thinly sliced pieces of fish. Some tasted fishy, which is not a good sign. Wasabi was really dry and crumbly.
I've been to a lot of Reno/Sparks Sushi places when I'm here for work and this one by far was the worse. Unfortunately I won't be backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tracey C.Reno, NV11789339Apr 2, 2018Updated review
Ok this is so hard for me because I am not one to whip out my phone after a meal and write a negative review....but hear it goes!!
I live right down the road from Rickshaws and was hesitant to try it because it never looks busy and I didn't want to cheat on my favorite Hinoki Sushi place, since I have always had a wonderful meal there. I was in a hurry and hungry and it is Thursday Sushi so I figured I might as well give Ricks a shot and boy was I disappointed!!!
1st, place was empty....granted it was 2 in the afternoon.
2nd, place was a mess, sticky menus and dirty bussed bins in plan view.
3rd, language barrier, I was trying to ask questions and no one understood me.
Ok, I could go on but let me get to my dinner. I love my normal Mickey Nigiris and Upside down Shrimp it's basically the only thing I eat and it looked fabulous in its little to go container, and I get home all hungry and excited, get my sauce ready and my chop sticks in action to take the first bite and uggggg the tuna was so fatty I couldn't even bite through it....ok no biggie, maybe it's just that one, nope all 6 where layered with fat strands....and it had a hint on fishy smell. I was so disappointed!!! You can't tell me that the girl preparing them did not take notice???
I will not return AT ALL....and I will never, ever cheat on my favorite spot just down the street.
In all fairness, for those who might want to give it a shot, their prices where good and here is a picture of before and after and the menu....maybe you will have a better experience thenHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Mar 29, 2018Previous reviewOk this is so hard for me because I am not one to whip out my phone after a meal and write a negative review....but hear it goes!!

My family and I have been coming here for years and it has become one of my favorite restaurants in town. It is one of the most affordable options for both lunch and dinner while still holding a high quality. While the fish isn't the best sushi I've had in Reno, the assortment of rolls and the friendly and attentive staff makes this my go-to sushi spot.
My favorite things here include the mussels and the pearl long roll. They constantly have changing special rolls that never disappoint and the chefs are happy to make really anything you ask for. One of my favorite things about Rickshaw is how friendly the chefs are and how often they remember us when we come in and remember what we like. It really makes us feel welcome whenever we go get sushi. This sushi restaurant is not typically crowded either, so our food is always out fast and we are always able to sit at the bar. All in all this is a great spot for sushi, I highly recommend it!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
