      What is the dress code!?

      A:

Last time we went, we wore jeans. I wore a blazer, but other men in our group didn't. Unlike Commander's Palace or Galatoire's, Revolution won't stress you out about being underdressed.

This is a beautiful restaurant - nestled in the heart of the French Quarter.

My husband booked this for our fancy date night meal while on our baby moon. It happened to be the day of a St. Patrick's Day parade so as we walked through the streets there were a lot of revelers partying and traffic was backed up. Pandemonium outside. I somewhat wondered if we were going to the right place....

Once we found the entry and stepped inside, total change of scenery. It's refined, beautiful, and very classy. The bar area was lovely and our table was ready pretty quickly and we were shown into the larger than expected main dining room.

Our server and her assistant were excellent. Very professional in all aspects. We started with warm bread and coffee for my hubs and I ordered the lobster onion soup which was SO good. Really good portion of lobster and a creamy base.

I chose the fresh fish of the day with a carrot risotto and it was bass. My husband went with the short rib dinner. Both entrees were delicious and the timing of the meal is excellent. I went to the bathroom before our entrees arrived and the server asked if they should hold my food under the heat lamps until I returned so as not to bring it while I was gone. Fancy places are the only ones who think like that!

For dessert - we were absolutely spoiled. I ordered the bananas foster affogato but they also brought us some cute mini profiteroles with congrats to celebrate our baby moon and some small jellies and chocolates at the end of the meal.

Everything here was excellent - service, ambiance, food, timing of tickets, etc.

We really enjoyed our date night and would happily come back again and again!

My dad, sister, and I ate at Restaurant R'evolution during our trip to New Orleans.

Restaurant R'evolution is a fairly nice fine dining establishment. It has an incredible wine list, very kind staff, and (at times) great food.

The staff are very nice but there were some (minor) misqueues. For example, they brought out my dad and I's soup and salad but not my sister's half pasta dish. This was quickly corrected. But overall, the staff were kind. For example, my sister ate her pasta slowly, and the staff was thoughtful enough to reheat it for her after her main course arrived. And the manager, Travis, was also exceptionally attentive to our party.

As far as the food, Sometimes the food was less than impressive, but still quite good. I thoroughly enjoyed my ribeye steak and loved the bone marrow accompaniment. The blue cheese crust tasted good, but it was more a melted blue cheese topping than a crust. I also was less than impressed with the "Death by Gumbo" which i thought was lacking in spice/flavor and just okay. The beignets were also good, but they served them on top of daps different individual sauces. How are we each supposed to try each sauce if they're served like that? However, my dad's meal was excellent. He loved their salad and was even thinking about it the next day. He also raved about the red fish. I get the impression that diners are best served enjoying their seafood.

The ambiance is also quite nice but they seem to be looser with their dress code than advertised. Also, the absence of a white tablecloth and continued presence of bread crumbs on the table made the experience feel less than luxurious. But the dry aged steaks, the view of the kitchen and over all feel of the restaurant are quite upscale.

Overall, I recommend Restaurant R'evolution for those that want to enjoy a nice meal with some creative dishes. But if you're someone who enjoys a lot of fine dining and looking for a place to "wow" you, you may want to look elsewhere.

This was a very good meal in a beautiful restaurant but there were issues that at this price point I didn't expect. Service was fantastic, attentive but not intrusive. Cocktails and wine list extensive as would be expected.
But as I mentioned, there were a couple of jarring notes.
While the soup (turtle with deviled quail eggs) was possibly one of the best soups I've ever had, the lovely beet salad was so overdressed it ruined the excellent components. Fresh rolls were so very good I ate more than I wanted to, but the entree, would be star of the meal, was disappointing. I ordered the duck l'orange, which was delicious but served in an appetizer portion. This was further reinforced as the perfectly cooked duck was cut into tiny cubes, served artistically with halved cooked radishes.
Portion size aside, it was odd to be served little cubes for my entree - but maybe I am too traditional. For $45 I feel I received a really nice 4oz appetizer. Possibly other entrees provide a better value, but not mine

This fine dining establishment is only a block off Bourbon street but miles away in terms of elegance. While Bourbon is loud and crass, RR is quiet and refined.

You enter into a dark wood paneled bar and are guided into a large four room dining room modeled after a New Orleans mansion, with high ceilings and wainscoting.

No fewer than four servers assisted us, including sommelier, all dressed impeccably in dark suits.

We started with the blue crab beignets, which were served four to a plate in a cream sauce. Delicious!

I ordered the butter poached lobster with black gnocchi which were tender and mouth watering. I couldn't finish the gnocchi as they were very rich but very good.

My friend ordered the rack of elk which was served rare with peppers. He had a side of waygu fingerling potatoes which were a hearty dish.

Complementary bread / cornbread with three types of whipped butter, including a hot, sweet, and traditional.

They had half bottles of wine and pricing isn't bad - half bottle of Chalk Hill for $24. Dinner was $100 each which was decent since I left full and had 2.5 glasses of wine.

Very pleasant experience and highly recommend.

Our whole meal was perfection! Everything that we ordered was above and beyond my expectations. We started with the crab beignets. They were so delicious! They had the perfect amount of crab meat inside and it was delicious with the sauce. We got the short rib and oysters as starters too! All their drinks were good too! For the main we got the octopus and veal. The octopus was a tad tough, but it was still very flavorful! I really liked it with the Brussels sprouts. It went well with the octopus and veal! The Brussels sprouts were perfectly crispy and had the perfect amount is sweetness to balance out all our mains. The service was so good too! Everyone was so friendly and nice! I want to go back and would 100% recommend this spot!

Restaurant R'evolution has been a favorite of ours since we have been coming to New Orleans. We haven't been in a long time (several years) since Chef John Folse hasn't produced a menu that tickled our fancy, at least over the other offerings here in NOLA that are so tempting. Imagine my excitement (like a 5 year old Christmas morning) when we looked and saw this menu. There is almost nothing on the current menu that we would not shove into our mouths. It was very difficult to choose what to order.

We arrived and were quickly seated. The restaurant has been renovated since the last time that we dined here and we didn't have the seating options we do now. We had seats at the chef's table and they paid off quickly. As soon as we ordered our Fire Roasted Oyster appetizer the chef sent one over to the counter for us to try as a lagniappe (Louisiana speak for something extra for no charge). We had to catch our server to cancel the one we ordered. It was delicious! So much so we ordered some raw on the half shell to go with. Those were also fantastic!

I ordered the Cast Iron Foie Gras. Helen ordered the Blue Crab Beignets and LS.ordered the Venison Tenderloin Carpaccio. All were good but not great. The foie could have spent more time on the cast iron, and I believe that La Petite Grocery is the one that came up with the crab beignets and the ones here are not as good, but I haven't had them in quite a long time at LPG. The Venison Tenderloin Carpaccio was delicious though.

I ordered Rack of Venison for my dinner. Helen ordered the Visiting Fish and L the Grilled Spanish Octopus. Mine was amazing! Helen liked hers but she didn't like how much butter was in her fish entree. We realize it was a beurre blanc sauce. LS. loved hers too!

I was super stoked for LS. to see the dessert candies presentation with the special box. I thought she would think it was beyond cool, but they don't do that anymore.......That was a huge disappointment. I feel like they should put that on the website. I built it up pretty huge to her.

Restaurant R'evolution is still a great option for some fantastic food. There were some minor missteps tonight but nothing major. Service was spot on. We had a great night and L.S. said that it was her favorite meal of the trip, and that was over Saba, Dakar and Antoine's.

Swanky set up off of Bienville with great ambiance! Service was friendly.

Food was.... Revolutionary for sure! :) Innovative creations based on traditional local menu.

My favorite was lamb chop, short ribs, Brussels sprouts and maple bread pudding with coffee ice cream.

Death by gumbo was a new interpretation of the original. Cute name and great presentation. But not my favorite flavor wise.

Seared foie gras... I've had better.

And hey, I don't have to have the most innovative recipe. I am happy with simple recipes executed to perfection ;)

Would I go back? Maybe if there is something else that is irresistible.

Until then, I will enjoy tried and true recipes done right.

I know it's going to sound crazy but in my opinion, it's easy to fall into a tourist trap in the city of New Orleans, especially when it comes to food. I went here during Halloween 2022 to be exact, my best friend got engaged at the Royal Sonesta so we made a reservation at this restaurant and MY GOD did this menu do a 180 since the new chef took over. To top it off I had some of the best service/experiences with Rory the gentleman who took care of our table. He was fun/knowledgeable about the food and city, and he made our experience entertaining, pleasant, articulate and immaculate. That man could be running/managing the Four Seasons Staff with his upbeat and professional attitude!

The food was amazing, flavorful, creative, fun and sensational. I am shocked how much this restaurant flipped in the matter of a 1.5 year span of time.

The steak was amazing extremely memorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I came with a group of coworkers while in New Orleans for a conference. We were seated in a separate area next to the wine cellar, which was really cool. I am knocking a star off for service, which was strange. Our server admitted he was having a rough night, and that is totally OK. I appreciate when people are honest. However, this translated to a very brusque demeanor. There were a ton of passive-aggressive comments and a very palpable aggression many of us picked up on. I do not expect rude behavior from a place like this. Our server was attentive and thanked us for our patience, but it was still off-putting.

The food was mostly amazing. My friends reported that the Gumbo was salty but delicious. I did not find the crab beignets to be particularly memorable. I do not eat pork, but the charcuterie was reported as being very good. We all enjoyed our drinks! Entrees were spectacular! Four of us, including me, had the squid ink gnocchi with lobster. My lord! I am not the hugest gnocchi fan normally, but the chewy pillowy texture was great with these. The lobster was delicious, and the sauce silky perfection. There was a warm spice to the dish, but nothing a wimp like me cannot handle. A couple of us closed our eyes in ecstacy with this dish. Asparagus was a delicious side. The spare rib was reported as being altogether life-changing. The steak was reported as being perfect. Complimentary truffles and pralines were the perfect ending note.

It was our chosen restaurant for our 1st year anniversary as husband and wife. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience. Our server Cheyenne and Christina were fantastic in every aspect. They both checked in with us and kept pace of our experience every step of the way. To be mindful of dishes and add little touches to it made a huge difference on how we engaged our meal. Some of the highlighted dishes were Grits, Death by Gumbo, Venison Carpaccio (wow!!), and Carrot Burrata. Additional dishes sampled were Short Rib, Bone Marrow, Scallops, Fire Roasted Oysters, and Gnocchi. We finished our meal with Bread Pudding, Manhattan Sour, and Saintsation (Last two are drinks). They graced us with a little surprise which was an anniversary profiterole. We loved these gestures. Chocolate box was over the top awesome.

Ambiance is subtle and isn't too loud which was a nice tone for conversations. Doesn't look like much from the outside but you'll definitely have a different vibe upon entering into the restaurant. We would love to visit here again and try other dishes down the road. Again, great job to Cheyenne and Christina. You two made our meal memorable.

      Thank you :)
