My first visit to the Regency Village Theatre was for the red (purple) carpet premier of Joy Ride! It was a star-studded evening including the main cast and screenwriters of the movie.
The theater was regal with plush red velvet seats and a stage that seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see. It's got vintage old-school charm with ornate columns, walls, and carpeting.
Great spot in the heart of UCLA for some evening entertainment!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Tried the balcony and it is a great view!! Sadly Sound system not good, nor are the chairs. Arm rest do not raise and you do not have head rest either. The screen does not wrap around and you can hear the film reel as it does emit the older Hollywood vibe. This is a good place for plays but not a movie experience.
Very hard to find seating here with the way it's numbered. Recommend coming here earlier to find seats.
The ushers are also very strict about not having cell on while movie showing. They will come to you in middle of the show, so no sneaking around trying to find out from rotten tomatoes what the ending is!!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Feb 14, 2023
**February 2023: Monday Evening Visit**
I've actually been here a couple of times and sat in various parts of the theater (balcony, front row, middle) and it's a good theater to watch any features - though I don't recommend the very front row on the side as the image does get distorted; regardless I always have a good time here. The architecture is charming and has a nice old school feel to it. It's a single movie complex so everyone is watching the same thing.
The one negative is that they have very limited bathrooms. I think maybe 4 stalls for women for the entire theater so the line is always quite long when the movie's over. Otherwise it's a great theater!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Watching a movie here is a must-have experience for anyone in LA. I've been fortunate to have watched many movies here and be part of a red carpet movie premiere, and each visit felt very special.
Just to hammer out some details: there are plenty of paid parking lots nearby (street parking on the other hand is quite challenging); the concessions stand has your typical options; the screen and sound have been great each time; and the bathrooms are clean and plentiful.
You should definitely come see a movie here!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

I am a huge fan of single screen movie theaters and this one is on my top 5 of the best in LA (less and less unfortunately).
It is beautiful, iconic, roomy, comfortable. Great architecture and nice seating. A very nice movie experience. I like walking around in Westwood Village before and after the show. Sometimes they have a premiere here so that's always fun.
For movie goers, this place should be a must!Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0Business owner information

Just saw the Haunting In Venice and it was super cool on opening night! Always super fun to be out chillin in the West side!
My Buddy was going to see this movie so I thought it would be cool to also check it out and I'm glad I did because it wasn't scary like I thought and I've been wanting to watch a scary movie and enjoyed it very much.
I love the space of this theater Will definitely come back again and check out future moviesHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My movie experiences at the Village are always memorably great. A classic theatre that looks brand new. There's a good chance you've seen a movie or TV show that was shot here. Quality everywhere you look.
PS: The Bruin, though not quite as elaborate, is another old school movie theatre worth your time. These places are exceptional and deserve to be busy. Go and enjoy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jun 3, 2023Previous reviewThere used to be several nice vintage single screen theatres in Westwood. Only this and the sixties style modified Bruin across the street remain. The Bruin is nice, but the original auditorium wall decor is covered by curtains. The Village looks like the day it opened ages ago. Total movie palace ambience, kept good as new. I wish they used the curtains instead of projecting a logo on the exposed screen as you walk in, but at least they don't do commercials. Concessions nice, staff nice, projection nice, they even have a balcony. Add a visit to nearby Lamonica pizza and this makes a great afternoon or evening. Highly Recommended.

The Regency Village movie theater is your old school single-screen movie theater with tons of seats. The site of many movie premieres, it is across the street from the Bruin theater in Westwood, and close to UCLA's campus. The iconic Fox spire still sits atop the theater. It is beautiful inside, and for me (not a sound-phile), no issues with sound or screening. Plus, the snack bar counter service (we ordered a lot) was very pleasant. We saw the new Dune there, and it was stunning. Enjoy!!

Given how much time I've spent in Westwood, I'm a bit flabbergasted that my first time visiting this theater was this year! I checked out "Licorice Pizza" there recently, and I was reminded that driving and parking in Westwood can be a...challenge (definitely give yourself enough time to figure out where you're going to park or take public transportation or some other mode of transit to get there). However, once I entered the theater, I was charmed by the charming architecture and friendly employees.
I love historic theaters, so being able to see a film in a place with so much character was part of the appeal. This is also a site for many film premieres, and I can remember the times the area would be cordoned off for screening arrivals (though I never afforded myself of any celebrity gawking). Given how much I enjoyed my initial visit, I can see myself returning in the future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information
