Avalanche Outfitters at Redstone Stables

5+... Last week we book 1 hour ride, we had some friends first time riders with us, the guides make them feel very comfortable, they were friendly all the time, they even took us a group picture.
The horses were amazing, such of beautiful and well trained, the view was AMAZING you feel like you are in an adventure no just in a ride, if we came back some day totally we'll book again here... TOTALLY RECOMMEND

My 11 year old son and I booked a 2 hour private back country horseback riding trip. It was great. The scenery was awesome, our guide was interesting and friendly and knew horses. The horses were calm and capable.

This was LEGIT backcountry riding. It was JUST US.... the trails were gnarly and the horses had to go over fallen timber, we ducked under branches etc. The scenery was PURE COLORADO Aspens and spruce/pines.

Even though it was challenging, I felt like my son was in capable hands from the moment they fitted him to his saddle until we went down a series of steep switchbacks and Michael (our guide) told him that it was OK if he wanted his horse led down the slope...

I highly recommend these guys for back country touring.

Michael was the best! This has been the best horseback riding experience yet. Great views, didn't rush, would wait! Took pictures of us! So kind! Can't wait to do it again, thank you for the memories.

Michael's trail rides are top notch! We've ridden with him two years now and our family of 5 looks forward to the experience each time. His expertise with the horses is truly the best, he's kind and considerate with kids (my middle daughter pestered him with questions the whole ride and he patiently answered all of them), and best of all, the trail rides are GORGEOUS and FUN. Horses are perfectly suited to each rider, and they're all well cared for and well trained.

We've done the 1 hour ranch ride and the 2 hour Coal Creek south side ride. Depending on your experience, Michael has a great ride for you ready to go. And don't forget to pet the friendly dogs.

This ride was amazing...... Josh was personable and accommodating. We liked that it was a guided trail ride, as my daughters were inexperienced and slightly fearful, but not so guided that the horses seemed bored and not spirited. The trail was beautiful and peaceful.... pretty dang close to riding through the meadow as a kid. Would highly recommend.

A friend and I happened upon this place during our road trip. We'd never been horseback riding and had discussed how cool it would have been. As fate would have it we pulled over to check out the amazing old coke ovens and take some pictures. I parked the car out of the way and noticed a sign that advertised horseback rides. Destiny!

We walked up the path and we first greeted by Trooper and Sergeant the sweet little ranch dogs. Then Blondie a huge working horse but a gentle giant, came up to say hey. She got a little upset and nipped at the other horses and mules if they came up to get some attention, Lol. Next we were greeted by cowboy Randy.

A ride will cost you 50 dollars for an hour they take cash or credit. What you get, for your money:
We were able to brush the horses and go up the mountain around the surrounding property. The dogs came with us on the ride and were very well behaved. Their presence also helped me to feel more relaxed and safer since there are bears and other large predators in those beautiful mountains. My paint horse Cody was a perfect gentlemen he obeyed and respected my lead even though it was my first time. He climbed up and down hill, jumped a stream and the views up there were just breath taking. The cowboys are very polite, professional and Randy has a ton of great stories. I felt very safe in his hands.

We were even able to work out a deal since we were short on time to do a half hour each instead of the hour.

I look forward to going back and doing the full hour riding horses in the mountains with cowboys next trip to Colorado.

My husband and I love to go horseback riding when we visit the mountains. Redstone was the desired destination this trip.


Our guides Kota and Bella demonstrated excellent knowledge and predictability of the horses we rode. Whether it be jumping over a puddle or picking up speed going up an incline, these two gave ample warning of what to expect from our horses. The conversations were enjoyable and the ride breathtaking.

I was in Redstone for a two day getaway vacation... I had a very enjoyable and memorable afternoon at Avalanche Outfitters! I took a horseback ride on the horse Phoenix. Josh the owner of Avalanche Outfitters was very hospitable, knowledgeable and catered the ride to me. Highly recommend checking out it out if you are in Redstone!
