Red Wheel Restaurant

This place has really gone down hill since I was here 2 years ago! Still a super friendly staff and very clean establishment.
It took forever to get waited on a long time for the food to arrive! The meal had an off-putting taste which I finally attributed to the melted cheese. I ordered my eggs over easy and they arrived way overcooked!
Their prices are quite high!!! $4.00 for a small milk!!!
Won't be returning!

On our way through, stopped in Rantoul for an early dinner. Saw great reviews for another place, but they were closed, so we tried the Red Wheel.

This is a cross between a truck stop and a generic family breakfast and diner restaurant. There was a lot of options in the menu and daily specials. No trouble getting a parking space or a table. (It was 4:15pm in a Sunday.) Only a handful of people in the restaurant, although they had a kid's party in the party room. The wait staff was friendly and attentive.

I was skeptical of what to order based on other reviews, so i played it safe and ordered breakfast. I had the ribeye steak and eggs, which was totally fine. Don't expect a great steak with your eggs, but it wasn't bad. They cooked my steak medium rare and hash browns extra crispy, just like I ordered. (It's shocking that I almost never get either of those cooked the way I ask.) My sun said his omelet was good too. My wife's got Turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy were not so great. Better than a frozen dinner, but not a lot. I think you can count on a solid breakfast, and should just be realistic about keeping it simple here. (I bet they make a decent club sandwich too.)

Stopped here with a group of 25 teens on a school trip. They were quick to take our orders, fast and organized getting the food out to us, and friendly to us road weary travelers. Food was tasty, hot and the milkshakes brought ALL of us to the yard.

i ate the chicken fried steak and now im sick. good service and everything but the food isnt allat. the soup was great but i feel like they need to improve on the main dishes. it has an OK ambiance but other than that, its a nice place.

The service was just ok but the food was not good can not recommend this restaurant. This facility is decent and location has a lot of potential however there would need to be tremendous changes to fix the food preparation quality issues.

Food is on par with what comes out of a banquet TV dinner package. Onion ring side/appetizer consists of three onion rings for $7.00! If the quality was anything above mediocre I could possibly overlook the prices. Duo, ET's and Ott's are FAR better options in Rantoul!

Ordered farmers omelet and bucusit and gravey. The food was not eatable. Sausage was bad, bucusit was doughy. All the waitress could do is give us a senior discount. We were seniors! Still cost $40.00.

Good food but a little pricey. The restaurant was clean and the server was friendly and quickly took care of us. Overall I would recommend.

Wanted to support local business, the service from the wait staff was alright but there was literally multiple hairs in my food. Will not be returning.

The food is not that great unless you want eggs and bacon every time you eat . They need a better menu with great tasting food, not food that taste like it came out of a bag
