I've heard that this is a good place for Taco Tuesday - it's fusion, they do the $1 deal, and they offer options for people who don't eat pork, chicken, or beef.
I personally had a burrito here and the flavor wasn't what I expected from it, and the portion was not large. If you are going here for standard Mexican food, expect the size to be pretty small and nothing spectacular. I did enjoy the food, it just didn't leave a huge impression on me. They also have pretty short hours on some days so plan ahead when coming here!
Try for some variety as opposed to just sticking to the same thing and you might find something you like here. It's a unique idea for a restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 2, 2018
I guess this the "original" Red Hot Kitchen. Miss the other one in Riverside tho solely because of their Taco Tuesday's. This place doesn't have taco Tuesday... sad face. But what they do have are very big tacos for under $4. Minimal cramped seating inside but great flavor at this restaurant. Give it a try!

This place is great! The food, that is. If you're going to stop by to try it out definitely order their kimchi super fries! Those are absolutely delicious!! I usually pair it with their bbq burger, which is decent. The patty they used definitely looked like it was from Cosco or SAMs club though, nothing really special. But I'd definitely go here for the super fries or the chimichanga!
The service is alright. The girl who works in the front was constantly on her phone the whole time we were there or taking a few bathroom breaks.
But overall the food is good if you order the right items!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Alan P.Chino Hills, CA969271264Aug 4, 2017
If you want to eat with your eyes, this is the place to go.
After seeing all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try myself! Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. Everything looked and smelled so good, but taste wise I was just not having it.
Came in here on a Friday afternoon, and it was actually decently packed! So usually that means it's a good sign of great food! You actually place your order first before seating.
Setting wise, the place is a bit run down, but has some character. It feel like it's a bit dirty. You can almost feel the grease in the air.
My girlfriend and I ordered the short rib kimchi super fries, and the bulgogi chimichanga. Came out to roughly $19 bucks with the 10% off student discount.
The food came out relatively quick and we couldn't wait to dig in.
Let's start with the fries. It comes in like some tostada bowl and it's freaking huge. The fries were a bit soggy, and there was tons of ingredients, but not in a good way. I feel there was just too much things in it, I couldn't really comprehend what was going on. And tons of beans and hardly any kimchi and meat inside. It was literally just filled with a bunch of nacho cheese, Soggy fries, and beans... totally disappointed since people highly recommend this!
The chimichanga, comes in 4 pieces. Has rice, beans, your choice of meat, the whole thing is deep fried and has a lot of sauce on top. Again loaded with beans and rice, with little meat.
Usually when chef douse their food with sauce, it really mask a lot of flavor of what's inside.
Both dishes were extremely greasy for me, and I'm a 6'1 250 lb man. I didn't want to eat any further.
I think 1 star is appropriate. Not quite at 2 star rating for me. Solely because I love the effort. It's unique, and great twist with Mexican and Korean food. It's just too much. If I may suggest something, make the food a bit more simpler and cook the food with some care. It will be 100x better.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 21, 2015
So I'm driving around, looking for lunch and I decide "eh, looks like it's something boring today like Weinershcnitzel or Baker's". I drive into the super small strip mall parking lot and some guy cuts me off to get into the Baker's drive through. Frustrated, with people behind me, I figure "forget this, I'll go across the street to KFC". As I make a few turns in the parking lot, I see it...."RED HOT KITCHEN". Hmmmmmm....
Fortunately, I found a parking spot and walked right in. I ordered the House Special: Bi-Bim-Bop for lunch. It is the BEST "salad" I've EVER HAD!
The Bi-Bim-Bop is a salad (chopped baby spring mix), jicama, beets, red cabbage, mango, choice of meat (I went with chicken) with a generous scoop of white "sticky" rice in the center which is topped with a fried (over medium) egg. If that doesn't sound tasty already, they give you "Ko-Chu-Chang sauce" which, to me, considering where I was eating at, had to be some sort of Siracha vinaigrette to give the salad some wetness.
The "Ko-Chu-Chang" sauce is deceptively sweet and delightfully spicy. The sauce complimented the overall flavor of the salad perfectly. The sweetness of the sauce was heightened by bites of mango, while the spiciness of it gave the earthy bites of beet and nutty bites of jicama a little kick.
The chicken was seemingly all dark meat (the flavorful meat) and reminded me of Mexican carnitas (well, this is an Asian-Mexican fusion restaurant...right?) and was delicious on it's own. The sticky rice, after I popped that egg yolk all over it and topped it with a dash of salt, was A-MAZE-ING! (Disclaimer: I'm a huge fan of eggs, especially when served over easy or close to it).
Just writing this review makes me want to drive over there and try something else off the menu! I can't wait to make my second visit.
I must say, the service could have been a little "friendlier" (I thanked the waitress who brought out my food who didn't respond with a "you're welcome"; not even a smile). The food was so good, however, that I didn't want to "ding" this place a star for what might have been a "bad day" for the waitress.
Also, don't expect your food to come out quickly. This isn't FAST FOOD, but it is GOOD FOOD and anyone who knows ANYTHING about cooking knows that GOOD and FAST are typically strangers. Sit back, mess around on your smartphone for a bit (they provide free WiFi) and wait for your delicious food.
Oh, a "shout out" and special "thank you" to that driver that cut me off at the drive through. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have found this AWESOME lunch spot (and would be digesting some boring old burger instead).Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Jeff C.Redlands, CA6294Jan 23, 2017
1st time here. Ordered the spicy pork bowl & a Korean taco (also spicy pork). My God this place is tasty!
The portions are great too. Gonna make this my reg stop for lunch... at least once a wk to try more grub off their menu.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Justin A.Los Angeles, CA11934Feb 12, 2018
This place absolutely sucks. Came here on a Monday around 4pm. The place was empty so when I ordered I assumed everything would be ordered to perfection. Boy was I wrong, I ordered the short rib chimichanga. First, it took them nearly HALF AN HOUR to make when I was told it would take less than 10 mins. Second, I will say that the taste was very average. Third, they are very skimpy with the meat and DON'T be fooled by the photos on yelp. Looks good from the outside but once you cut into the burrito you'll notice it's filled with 90% PLAIN WHITE RICE (not kimchi friend rice like they advertise on the menu) and very very little meat.
If you're looking for an "Asian fusion" I would take your money elsewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 13, 2013
Pretty good food and affordable - perfect for a college student! I am so glad that this opened up closer to school so we don't have to drive all the way out to Riverside! I have tried a couple of dishes, but I think I like the fried chimichangas the best.
Side note: I think the only downside to this place was that the workers were wearing inappropriate clothing - one of the girls at the counter who was serving had a very short t-shirt on and can see her belly button. I thought this was inappropriate and disgusting actually..Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 2310232Dec 6, 2016
Love this place. Been here a few times and ordered their veggie chicken burger with sweet potato fries and their yakisoba with veggie chicken.
Burger was awesome! I don't know what kind of fake meat they use but the texture and flavour is excellent. I loved the pineapple in the burger. My one comment would be that I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet potato fry dipping sauce. It was this syrupy cinnaminny runny sauce and was just not what I would have liked. I'd prefer the typical chipotle sauce or even ketchup to that.
Yakisoba is also awesome. Comes with lots of veggies in it, noodles are just the right texture I crave, and again the veggie chicken texture is on point, although you can choose to put whatever meat you'd like in it, vegetarian or not.
Although I haven't ordered it, my boyfriend raves about the sloppy burrito. He's not even a foodie and he craves this all the time and tells his friends all about it. He says it's probably his favourite food in the area.
Not giving five stars just because they can be kind of slow, and it's a little expensive, in my opinion. I'd give it $$ rather than $. I think that's a little misleading, as the sloppy burrito is around $12 after tax, for example. Not expensive, but not cheap eats either.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Niyati P.West Los Angeles, CA59954165Mar 24, 2016
Food: A great Korean-Mexican fusion place that is very Vegetarian friendly. Highly recommend the Chimichangas: fried and stuffed with rice, beans, choice of protein, cheese and Korean sauces hence the fusion. They used to be a bit more spicy and saucier as I like it, but my most recent time around the item lacked a little in flavor. However, overall, it is still a unique, tasty entree to get in the IE area or when making a Costco run nearby.
Also, I have tried the Veggie Chicken Burger, which is a classic, safe choice but also pretty basic. Missed the unique flavors its known for in its other items.
Location/Ambience: Its a small place (around 8-9 tables) and it gets pretty crowded during rush hour lunch. It can be a little hectic and frustrating during these times, tbh especially if theres no seats or space to move. Not too suitable for big groups. Traffic can also be bad in that intersection due to some construction. Come during an off-hour and you will be fine with plenty of parking! Also, they have 10% of every weekday from 2-5pm if you have a Student ID. Items typically run around $10!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
