So surprised to see that Raleighwood has current big movies now! We saw Avengers Endgame and were thrilled to get two tickets for $8!
We arrived very early and were lucky enough to get a close by parking spot plus a great seat in the theatre.
As always, the theatre shows old Warner Bros. cartoons until showtime - the kids always like that.
Our server, Becca, was very friendly and we placed our order right away. Raleighwood lets you know up front that food orders will take about 30 minutes, so expect a wait.
We ordered buffalo wings, onion rings, two drinks, one grilled chicken salad and one mushroom Swiss burger.
The onion rings were so good! Hubby enjoyed the wings. My burger wasn't nearly as good as burgers I've gotten here in the past, not sure if they changed or it was just an off day. My side salad was covered in olives - yukk. Had I known I would have asked for none, but instead was picking olives out of my salad in the dark...
Great movie, food was overall pretty good - $42 before tip.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Dec 31, 2017Previous reviewI have to admit, we came to Raleighwood after our first choice Raleigh Grande was sold out.
We've been to Raleighwood about four times over the years but honestly rarely visit anymore. We were happy to be able to get in today and had a good time.
Three tickets for a noon movie were $16.50. Keep in mind, I believe you have to pay cash at the ticket window (maybe that's changed but for years they don't do credit at front). We chose great seats and ordered our lunches.
Drink sizes are huge, but really pricey. Popcorn was on special for $0.70 so we got one and we ordered our standard cheeseburgers. Three drinks, three burgers with fries and a small popcorn was $44.71 before tip - it's pricey, but it's part of the experience. I knew that going in.
Food was correct and served hot. Burgers were good and albeit I'm not a French Fry lover, Raleighwood fries are good. We made our own comeback sauce and their fries are yummy dipped in it!
Watching a great family movie, Jumanji, while snacking on burgers and fries, while sitting in a nice lounger, what's not to like?
The theatre is dated, decor needs updating and bathrooms are 70's yellow - but, they aren't trying to win a design award. Raleighwood shows good movies and serves you a burger. Good enough for us. - May 26, 2019
The food was good, the service was good, the movie was good, and the tickets were cheap! That's a win in my book! I visited with some friends from out of state and they commented on how fancy the theater was. Everyone enjoyed the movie and the food.

Made the big mistake of going there to see The Avengers Endgame on opening week. We arrived very early, got good seats and placed our food order. Place was packed I could hear people breath, chew, gulp on there drinks. Horrid service! I could hear the waitresses saying to customers " if you want another drink you have to tell me now because I can't fit here after the movie starts SMH!! They ran out of wings and pizza Huh! How it's that possible?
Big block buster movie opening week. Then to top the night off everybody was waiting for the finally
The last clip that all there movies give away AND
One employee shouted and said the movie is over go home Lol!!!! Classy place.. go at your own risk.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 14, 2014Updated review
I am still a fan of this venue for movie-watching, but the food is full of okays and not okays. Husband had the Italian Super Sub recently which he did like. I had the Grilled Chicken Salad (the Cajun Tuna one is sadly gone) recently, and it was okay. LIked that everything was in chopped sizes for easy eating in the dark, but could really do without the crappy canned black olives.
Fast forward to another recent night where we decided to share the "Ultimate Nachos". Uh, never again. These were pretty gross. Thick chips, with what tasted like canned chili and plastic-bag lettuce. Plus more of the crappy canned black olives.
Drinks are just fine...I am still a fan of the Coppola chardonnay for 7.50, and Husband was fine with his Yuengling for 3.95. I probably won't do another unsweetened iced tea...although a big plastic glass, it grated on my tummy. And do know that a plastic glass of water will cost you fifty cents.
Tickets for two, although up to $11, are still reasonable. (Note you still need CASH for the tickets!!!)
Service is just fine. Heads up that if you sit in the back near the kitchen, you have to be able to ignore the comings and goings and sometimes loudness from the kitchen. Other reviewers have complained about the office chairs, but may I say they are much more comfortable than the office chair I sit in every weekday at work!
Besides the movie itself, my favorite part of the experience here is the concert footage they play before the movie . Most recent was Billy Joel.
Will continue to go here for movies that we want to see (it's very close to home), but do wish they would work on the quality of the food!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 30, 2012Previous reviewI have been going to Raleighwood for years and years. Not necessarily often, but it's a tasty entertainment option close to home (North Raleigh). Some might find it expensive, but I would beg to differ. I think it's very affordable. What might make it seem expensive is that it's like a bar, movie theater, restaurant all in one. So if you see a movie, have a drink or two or three, and dinner, then your bill will reflect such. But here's the joy of the place...you can do as little or as much as you want!
My idea of a night out at Raleighwood: two tix at just $4.50 each. (used up a Groupon tonight, so no $9 charge). No, you're not seeing a first run, but it's either a movie you want to see or not. Also, in all the years I've been going here, there is always something interesting to watch before the movie. I've seen concerts, sports games, and tonight it was an interesting documentary on the Boardwalk
. Order: The premium chardonnay at $7.50 a glass. Have tried the lesser. Saving a buck or two is just not worth it for taste. Fave dinner choice: the salad with cajun tuna and honey mustard dressing. Over the years these choices have been consistently good for me. Husband tried the taco salad plus a Yuengling tonight and liked them just fine. Drinks were cold. Meats were warm. Salads were cold. Couldn't ask for more.
Service was cheerful and good. But:
TIPS: Expect to wait for your food. If you're starving either go early so you'll be one of the first to get food, or snack before you go. That's just how it goes here. They usually seat both theaters around the same time so the kitchen gets slammed a few times a day. You WILL get your drinks. You WILL get your food. This is not gourmet. If you get a salad you will be served a plastic bowl with plastic utensils. Other things arrive via baskets with paper. Not fancy. Options are pizza, wings, sandwiches, popcorn, nachos, etc. Happy to report they've added napkins and salt and pepper containers to the tables.
Anticipate your needs! They can't keep coming around after the movie has started. If you're picky and expect to pick off onions or anything else, ask for it to be done ahead of time, because when your food comes it's likely to be dark and there's no asking. Salad dressing is one small cup minimal. If you like more, go ahead and ask for extra ahead of time and expect to pay the small upcharge.
Do know that there will be slight interruptions in the movie...the check will be brought, so have your card handy. Thinking ahead a bit will make your experience here much more favorable.
Back to prices: If you pay full price for a date night it's nine bucks. Basically ten bucks for a sandwich or salad. My wine was the upper end and it was $7.50. I believe the beer was under 5. If you were to go to have a couple drinks in a bar, go to dinner and a movie, what would you pay? I'm telling you, it is VERY reasonable here. Not to mention you don't have to order anything to eat or drink if you don't want. Or you could do the usual movie faves and get popcorn and a drink. You have choices here!
Do know that there are two theaters and they are both small. I remember the days when smoking was allowed and they would seem very smokey. Fortunately those days are long gone and it's no longer a problem. Also note that they feature many desserts, so if sweets are your thing, you should have options here as well. - Jul 13, 2019
Didn't go in, just stopped for popcorn. Didn't find any. You have to buy a ticket and be seated. Not what I was expecting, but not bad either. I'm just indifferent, and should I want to eat during my movie, I'd most likely be back to give it a try.

Not my kind of theater, chairs are not comfortable and they are too close together. Did not order anything to eat but 4 dollars was a great deal to watch "The Grinch" at 11:30 I must say that because there were only another 6 people I had no problem lounging but I can't see doing that when there are more people around you, it must be uncomfortable when the place is packed and the smell of food is something I wont get used to in a theater, sorry but that is my opinion but at the same time I dont want to hurt their business, would come back on a slow morning for the same deal

Reviewing Raleighwood is not an easy task because it is a hybred, part restaurant, part movie theater and it does a capable, but not excellent job in either area but the overall experience probably rates 3.5 stars thus the 4 star rating. I ordered a mushroom burger plate and my wife had the chicken with bacon sandwich (both around $10). Both were better than a fast food chain, but not up to a specialty burger place. The movie experience as far as seating is better than the average multplex as you sit in a reclinable swivel chair similar to a good executive desk chair. The screen and audio are similar to a low end multiplex. The bottom is you get a rasonable dinner and movie evening for less than $40 for 2 plus tips.

I really enjoyed my matinee flick at Raleighwood Cinema Grill today. It was a nice treat for my little one and I to get out and go to the movies together. We walked up to the ticket booth and no one was there, so we took it upon ourselves to enter and there was a sign that said seat yourself and your ticket would be added to the tab at the end of the showing.
The theater was nice and clean full of big comfy leather office chairs, tables, and countertops. There were menus, napkin caddies, and salt and pepper shakers strategically placed throughout the theater for your dining and drinking pleasure. A server greets you upon your arrival, nice fella he was, offered us drinks and food then told me a little about the place.
I ordered a half sweet half unsweet tea and we split some mini corndogs. The food was mediocre but the cleanliness and price made up for that. $3.25 per ticket for matinee showings. However, I was a little disappointed that they don't offer candy! They have floats, carrot cake, Dutch brownie, and some other sweet treats. I had Milk Duds on my mind, so I declined.
We will be back. Maybe even start a little mother daughter tradition at the RCG. I saw on their website they show Monday Night Football along with nightly specials. Great place to bring the family during a matinee showing or a cool date night spot. They serve beer and wine and I believe no little ones are allowed after 6.
Check Groupon for deals!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - T B.Fuquay-Varina, NC19697Mar 12, 2018
We came here to see Black Panther as probably the last people on Earth to see the movie and we were impressed with the Raleighwood! It was our first visit and frankly, my husband and I were a little concerned after reading some not-so-great reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised and overall, had a great time in a different sort of movie theater.
A couple details:
The kids loved the seating arrangements, and we all found it clean and comfortable, if not a little tight in the area where we sat. Our server greeted us very soon after we found our seats, and he was attentive without interrupting us watching the movie.
The cartoons before the movie were a hoot! A cute little perk even with older kids.
The food could have been a little bit better quality and less expensive, but we expected higher prices so we ate beforehand and only indulged in snacks during the movie. The popcorn was pretty good, just a few too many burned pieces -- at least that told me it was homemade and not trucked in! The nachos reminded me of the cheap kind I'd eat at my high school football games a zillion years ago -- y'know, the kind with canned "cheese" and thick, round chips, but with the modern upgrade of an accompanying cup of salsa. The steak fries were nice and hot, and my kids gobbled them up.
The most important thing was the great matinee price of $5.50, making it a nice, affordable afternoon out with the family.
My only issue is that I prepaid online and we still had to stand in line to redeem our online tickets. No one ever checked them, so it didn't save any time or money to pre-purchase. Actually, it cost more because of the online service charge, so we'll just arrive early, stand in line and avoid that fee the next time!
We're looking forward to our next visit here already.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
