It's just chicken fingers with sides....the chicken fry is crispy but it's flavorless so it has to be dipped in their special sauce. The coleslaw taste more like cabbage soaked in heavy cream. The bread is doughy and soft. I'd rather go to Kfc where I could at least have other options and eat the chicken without worrying about the sauce.

For those that didn't know, this is the original Cane's and I think it's so cool that's it's just a few steps off of LSU's campus. I have such fond memories here, getting late night snacks after games my Freshman year.
I haven't been in a while and decided to dine in with a friend. Easily the quickest service I've ever received. I swear I'm not exaggerating when I say I turned around to find a seat and they called my name with my food all ready (before I even got my drink!). One of the employees even took the time to walk around the restaurant and made sure everyone was okay - which considering this is a fast food restaurant I did not expect and was greatly impressed by.
You can never go wrong with Cane's in my opinion. It just does what it needs to do!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Danielle C.Springfield, MA11545Apr 14, 2023
I had my very first Cane's experience right here!! Been wanting to try it (not many Cane's locations up in New England...) and figured what better place than the original? Stopped at this location after touring around the LSU campus.
Let's just say, if I went to LSU.... I'd probably find myself at Cane's everyday! Not afraid to admit I'm a sucker for good chicken tenders. No shame in it!
These were so good! And the crinkly fries, mm! The sauce had me at first - I wasn't so sure about it if I'm being honest.
But having been back to Cane's and giving the sauce a second chance, consider me hooked!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Marcus S.Baton Rouge, LA01729Aug 17, 2022
Canes get 5 stars automatically. Don't call it a comeback! I went to Canes today, and what did they have?? Legit chicken fingers!!! We all know they were serving chicken knuckles for a while, but it seems like they've bounced back in a major way.
Store #1 knows what's up. Customer service is great, and they are always packed.
If you can't tell, I'm really excited that true chicken fingers are back!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Diego C.Baton Rouge, LA1812Mar 27, 2022
Idk, I must be still be getting taller because every time I come here the portions seem smaller. The Texas toast looks like half the size it was a year ago, the tenders be shrinking up too. Today, I noticed the sauce container got waaaaaaay smaller.
Sad to see the prices go up and portions go down... cheeky cheeky cheeky.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Courtney E.Clinton, LA24765Jun 9, 2022

Okay, I'm generally not a Raising Cane's fan, but I had to try the original. Yes, this is the original location. So I ordered a chicken tender. It was a little wilted on the bottom (soggy) but the one of the best tenders around. Good crunch and good flavor.

**Tourist review from Southern California**
Cane's has finally made its way to Southern California with a few locations throughout. It's only okay to me. But I came to Louisiana during a 3-day holiday weekend and decided to spend 1 day in Baton Rouge. While researching things to do in the city and places to check out, I found out that this particular location was THE FIRST CANE'S LOCATION TO EVER OPEN. I read how this place began as an experiment from a student attending the university located in the city to prove his professor wrong and the rest is history.
When walking into this specific restaurant, you can tell it was the first Cane's location. They've kept all the original decor (looks pretty funky and nothing like the other Cane's franchises) and even an engraving made on one of the stool tables by the original owner/founder himself. The employees working here know the story and will even tell you some cool things about the place if you ask.
Food was exactly what you expect from Raising Cane's. Customer service was alright. And the place has its own history and story. Why not visit this place when in Baton Rouge.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Anna D.Cypress, TX65109222Jun 3, 2021
Yum. Yummy yum. Yum yum yum. Need I say more?
There is no other fast food chain I have ever been to that puts so much work into going the extra mile. I am always thoroughly impressed and satisfied. They are so fast, I often worry my order will be wrong, but it never has been.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
