I've been seeing Dr. Julia & Diane the acupuncturist for roughly 2 months now. I've been a huge proponent of chiropractic care & Western medicine for over 20 years due to chronic lower back issues involving my discs & spine. I've experienced great, good & bad chiros. With the latter sometimes doing more damage than good.
Being new to the area, finding a great chiro can be hit or miss, lucky for me I checked yelpl The reviews really helped and were right on point.
Dr. J uses the K Laser on my lower back and this has been a first for me, but I can really feel an improvement in my symptoms. I've always been a little skeptical of female chiros because I'm 6'2", 195lbs and athletic and never thought a delicate doctor could adjust me....Boy was I WRONG!!! Dr. J is an athlete, she's strong, exceptionally smart, and really knows what's she doing! Both Dr. J & Diane really take their time to listen to you, and put together a treatment program for your needs. BTW I went to an Orthopedic doc & Pain Medicine specialist within the past 2 weeks, and the only thing out of their could give a shit mouths, were "spinal epidural & surgery", and neither explained any procedures.....There's a reason I only prefer Chiros, Acupuncture, Rolfing and Massage, it seems these body workers actually care what you have to say & the choices you want to make,
I get both treatments once a week & as I mentioned the improvements have definitely been noticeable. Diane is an excellent practitioner of Western medicine, and as Dr. J, she really listens to you. If only MDs had the same approach to how they treat their patients!

If you're on the fence about whether or not to consider chiropractic care, get off the fence, hobble to your car, and drive to Dr. Julia's office! :P
EVERYONE at Pro Wellness is friendly and pleasant, the level of care is above and beyond what I have ever experienced from a chiropractor in the past and the office is SO clean. The wait time is almost always either non-existant or minimal. I have never had a long wait in this office...and that's saying something because from the looks of things they're usually very busy. How they do it, I don't know, but I'm impressed!
There is PLENTY of on site parking (free) and the location is easy to find.
It's SUCH a blessing to have health care providers that you can trust. Dr. Julia is fantastic. She has helped not only me, but other members of my family and we love her!
Her adjustments are gentle but EFFECTIVE and have made an incredible difference at times when I was in a lot of pain.
I used to have mixed emotions about going to the chiropractor and now I am a convert...I would recommend Dr. Julia to anyone!
Are you driving to her office yet? You are? Put down your phone and watch the road! :PHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Suki K.Los Angeles, CA25105126Aug 28, 2012
I'm not one to be a believer without physical proof, so when it comes to needles making things better or holistic this or holistic that, I say "Psss fuuuggetabout it" like Donnie Brasco.
However, after undergoing a major surgery and becoming numb, I became desperate in finding a solution. When a friend told me about Diane, and how she helped with his shoulder pain, he told me to go see her and seek treatment for the numbness I was dealing with. With nothing to lose, I called and made an appointment.
The receptionists were very nice, the front area was very clean, and the treatment area was very relaxing and nicely decorated as well. I definitely would have walked out if the place was unclean or shabby looking, esp when there are going to be needles sticking in my precious body! You can say I am slightly OCD about cleanliness...
Back to the point: Diane was very friendly and had good bed side manners. She made me feel comfortable and was very educated about the human body. She wasn't that new age weird doctor who tells people that she will do some hokus pokus, push on my arm, and hold a sack of crystals, and you shall be better type, which I was half expecting, but THANK GOODNESS, she wasn't. She was straightforward, she answered all of my questions, and then she worked her magic with her needles.
After 5 treatments, I can say I am getting some feeling back! This is after my own surgeon told me he didn't think it was possible, especially due to my age. You see, the older you get, the lower chances you have of getting your feelings back after surgery. I don't think I am old, not THAT old, but I guess all old people say that.
Anyhow, I will continue to see Diane, and hopefully will regain full feeling. So far, she has treated with needle therapy, moxa for blood circulation, and with electrical needles. THANK YOU Diane! I am now a believer!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mark W.Redondo Beach, CA1917Nov 3, 2014
I was having some serious problems with my neck, could not turn my head and sleep was impossible, intense pain!
I called them and they let me come in the same day (within the hour) and received treatment right away.
The doctor was great, she explained things before working on me and I felt so much better after the treatment.
I have a follow-up appointment and my neck seems back to normal.
Really happy that I found Dr. Julia!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Erin G.Redondo Beach, CA8313Feb 21, 2014
A friend recommended that I go see Dr Charlie when I woke up one morning with numb fingers.
I work out a lot (Weight training, yoga, zumba, pilates) so I didn't think much of it until the shooting pain in my arm and numb fingers caused more concern than I wanted and it wasn't going away.
Dr Charlie is great, I can't say enough about his understanding demeanor and over all great personality. I am kind of a Chiropractic chicken- but I am happy to say that my injury is cured- No more shooting pain and no more numb fingers! Yay!!
Go see Dr Charlie- He and his Team are great people!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sunny M.Los Angeles, CA2026783Jun 15, 2011First to Review
CALLING DR. DIANE KIM! please report.. stat! ^_^
One of the best doctors to provide acupuncture and holistic medicine. I love going in to see her. I walk out of the clinic feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. She's gentle, but boy~ can she hit the spot! I wish i can see her EVERYDAY!
She has helped me with digestion problems and muscle aches/tensions. She's very attentive and truly cares about her patients. I find myself feeling calm and relaxed when in her office.
Few weeks ago, I tried the cupping treatment. Some of my friends have had this procedure done by other doctors and mentioned it to be a bit painful, therefore, I was a little nervous about getting it done. But when I got it done with Dr. Kim, I didn't feel a thing. She's very poised and confident in her work, which makes me trust her 100%!
It's really hard to find great doctors that you can trust. She's one of a kind and truly one of the best i've tried!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dan D.Torrance, CA7060135Feb 13, 2012
I am so glad that I have come to find this office. Dr. Julia, (Dr. J), has been able to piece me back together again. I've had a bad year trying to keep active and Dr. J has been able to get me back to good health. Sort of like Humpty Dumpty if you know what I mean....
I've never had a cold laser until this past year when I became injured with a hematoma while playing soccer. Sigh...much discomfort but the the attention I received was sincere and I felt that the office staff really cared about me.
The office is just the right size, located in Redondo Beach off of Diamond and Prospect. I am able to get late evening appointments and I am very happy with the attention from the office and the care of Dr. J.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina C.Redondo Beach, CA8211May 5, 2014
Love getting adjustments by Dr. Julia. She does an examination and asks if there is anything that has changed during every visit. They do the standard e-stim and heating pads to start the appointment.
This is the first chiropractic I have found that doesn't make you feel it's all about the money she can get from you/your insurance. I had a billing question/issue and Dr Julia spoke with me herself during the same phone call. I haven't had service like that from a chiro in LA before her!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Best C.Los Angeles, CA02Jun 15, 2011
I really didn't know what to expect since I never got acupuncture done before and I was honestly kind of apprehensive about it because I'm terrified of needles but I have to say, Diane is one great acupuncturist :)
I was first welcomed by a friendly staff when I walked in. (I recommend you to make an appointment). Diane treated me right away. I've been having some issues with the left side of my face feeling tight and chronic upper back tension. She treated my face first and I honestly didn't feel a thing. She put other pressure points for more energy because I told her how I always felt fatigued. The mat I was laying on was nice and toasty and she put a cozy blanket on me while I napped for about 20 minutes, listening to serene background music. She then treated my back with this cupping method. When I think of cupping, I picture the scary red marks that old ladies get after getting acupuncture but no, she used this one method that left no marks but felt very gooood. Diane also gave me a light massage which felt great.
My whole experience at ProWellness was fantastic and I can't wait to go again. I highly recommend it, especially DianeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cindy T.Aurora, CO04092Dec 13, 2011
My husband & I have been seeing Diane Kim for acupuncture therapy for several years. My husband has been seeing Diane for somewhere around 3 years while I just started seeing her about 6-8 months ago. My husband has been dealing with several health issues over the past 10 years and they have been gradually improving over these last few. Those of note, would be his asthma, which he has not needed to take medication for in about 2+ years (he had been on asthma meds for the previous 25 years). The next big thing was his night sweats. He used to have excessive night sweats almost every night in which I would have to wipe his face with a towel and have him change his t-shirt. Those have completely stopped. In addition, the acupuncture therapy has helped speed up the healing process of his sports related injuries (his knees, foot, wrist, shoulders) that pain meds such as Advil and naproxen don't help. Other things that have improved are ringing in the ears, stiff necks, hand/finger pain, stress management, and anxiety. Of course they are still working on things, but his health is improving nonetheless.
For myself, I didn't think I needed acupuncture as I had thought I was in pretty good health. However, certain things that were lingering that I thought was normal have improved. So it turns out that I wasn't in great health to begin with. Of note, my emotions have been so much better. I am an emotional person (ask any of my friends & family), but acupuncture has really changed my outlook and how I respond to situations. I no longer get sudden periods of extreme sadness, nor do I blow up in anger as much. These emotions went from a daily thing to now a rarity (maybe 1-2 x month at most). In addition, she has helped heal my stomach bloatedness and leg inflammation when from overexertion. My back pain from sitting a lot at school & standing a lot at work has improved. One small thing (but important to me) is that my finger/hand/wrist pain that I was having from excessive hand writing at school is now gone. It improved within 24 hours of my first therapy session. That was enough to bring me back and become a regular.
Finally Diane has helped with my dizzy spells. I used to get dizzy for about 10-20 seconds on a daily basis after I exercise and then eat my first few bits of food (happened whether I eat right after exercise or long after exercise; whether I work out hard or light; whether I eat before or not, it just always happened). However, it gradually improved and within 1-2 months of the acupuncture therapy, I no longer got dizzy spells after exercising nor when eating. This went from 20-30 times a month to 0 times a month.
Now as far as a person and a professional, Diane is great. She is very kind and down to earth, and is a normal person just a like you and me. She will give positive reinforcement and pick you up mentally when you are down. She is non-intimidating and very comforting. You really can't ask for anything more. If you are thinking about getting acupuncture for the first time, we do highly recommend Diane as you want an acupuncturist you can trust.
Keep in mind that acupuncture does not work the same for everybody. Some respond better or more quickly than others. Don't expect everything to heal and reverse itself after one or two visits. If you have had certain health related conditions, they took time to create themselves and they will need some time to heal. We think of our acupuncture sessions almost as a trip to the spa and look forward to our visits.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
