I strongly advise against visiting Primary Pediatrics in Laurel, Maryland, especially if you wish to avoid experiencing overly aggressive administration of shots by Nurse Michelle to your toddlers. Should you consider lodging a formal complaint, the process involves conversing with Head Nurse Emily Rowman, which unfortunately tends to exacerbate the situation. In my experience, Emily Rowman's approach to nursing is subpar, particularly in her prioritization of colleagues over the safety of children under her care. For a smoother and more reliable healthcare experience, I recommend seeking alternatives to Primary Pediatrics.

We've been coming here since our daughter was a newborn, and Dr. Perdue has been WONDERFUL! Not only is she super sweet and friendly, but she allays our 1st-time parent concerns from our daughter's eating to ear infections etc. They always have availability for sick visits, even over the phone, and their customer service is impeccable. All the ladies at the front desk are super sweet and helpful. I am forever grateful for this office!

I have been going to this pediatric since my twins were born to the age of 18. I am currently taking my 13 year old son here who also been a patient since birth and I never had any issues at all. However, the only thing I don't like is the changing of doctors. My son had been seeing Dr. Anlage since birth and knows everything about my son. Then there are days she not in the office and I have to settle for a different doctor I know nothing about or saw before. However, my visits with my children was from 1990 to current, so things have changed a lot since then such as the staff now. This is my experience.

The doctors are great and the location is convenient but I schedule at the Silver Spring location whenever possible because the assistants and staff are so incredibly rude and unprofessional.

I will be leaving this practice in a few weeks. Office staff is unprofessional, nurses are rude and customer service is severely lacking. Every now again you may encounter good employees with follow through but they are rare and tend to be gone after a while.
I still dealt with all that was unpleasant with this practice but when I was told my daughter needed bloodwork at a local Lab Corp and I was to call back with the results...and I called and called and could get no one to give me any information that was it for me.
They kept telling me that the doctor was on vacation and that when she had a chance she would get back to me. When I asked who the head doctor was they said there was no head doctor so there is absolutely no accountability. To this day...weeks later I have not received a return phone call advising me of my daughter's results. What's scary is they said she may be diabetic...sure I can assume the results are negative since no one called us back but as a parent should I be left to assume? Meanwhile I've gone ahead and established an appointment for both of my daughters with a Johns Hopkins pediatric office as this was the absolute last straw for me
Do not send your children here for their care. I feel they don't care. They are also awful when it comes to communicating with schools or submitting required paperwork. It's almost like you have to spend your whole day trying to achieve anything. It is just absolutely horrid and I don't know how they're still in business. This is my experience with the Laurel office. If I could give zero stars I would. Their nature of business is too serious to be lacking as they do. So disappointing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The Bowie location is way better than the Laurel location. I make appointments in laurel because it's closer, however, after today I will be switching practices. The doctors are fine... but the "assistants" are rude and unfriendly. One of them took my daughter into this tiny room the size of a closet with formula and other things for an "eye exam." The eye exam was simply having a 3 year old identify shapes. My daughter has no problem counting, identifying shapes, colors etc and the assistant came back and said she can't do it. I mean really.... how about having the doctor who the child is comfortable with giving the so called eye exam. The woman was just simply rude and unprofessional. We will be switching doctors ASAP.

Nurses are rude and unprofessional. The staff are very unpleasant and careless, not sure why some of the staff are in Pediatrics care. Find another Pediatrician for your newborn!!!

The staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional. I just had my baby 11 days ago and Medicaid has not given proof of insurance since they state that's their policy to wait for 30 days. I explained that when making appointment and they said it would be fine. When I arrived they said that I had to pay out of pocket. They didn't even bother to call and confirm with Medicaid. I am covered with Veterans Affairs and the ladies in the front desk acted like they didn't know what I was talking about.
They need more people skills. If I can give a negative rating, I would.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christina G.Washington D.C., DC042Aug 22, 2014First to Review
This practice is standard as far as services. You get Saturday morning office visits, access to doctors off hours, and seem organized. I also never had to wait too long. The doctors for the most part are same as far as medical philosophy.
Issues:
Office is outdated.
Had to remind one too many doctors to use hand sanitizer. I'd prefer hand washing since some hand sanitizers have Triclosan. I asked one doctor if he had washed his hands and he was visibly insulted. I heard him moving a cart from the room next door and them coming into my exam room. To me that means he didn't stop to wash his hands. I don't like that. He'd want someone to wash their hands if he was being examined. The "god Complex" is real.
Also, at their Bowie location one of the toys looked like it had black mold on it. I was told it was wear and tear. Even if it is wear and tear it isn't presentable and needs to be replaced. I mentioned it and the doctor and he told me not to let my child play with it. What happened to the best interest of the child, excellence, customer service? Any thing that sick children play which should be washed and kept looking sanitary. Why should a child go to a medical center to play with dirty toys and potential catch something they didn't come in with? Not logical, and I'd be irresponsible to notice something like that and not say anything. I'm sure doctor offices in Bethesda and Mclean don't subject their clients to dirty toys. And I'm sure if parents in any of those offices air any concerns they are properly and politely heard. Socioeconomics... I guess people get better treatment based on where they live, money they make, and who they are. Nobodies aren't to complain, have any expectations, or expect better than want the doctor wants to give or think they deserve.
I think some of doctors are too quick to prescribe antibiotics for ear infections. Only one doctor held off because the ear drum wasn't bulging. Being quick to prescribe antibiotics seems to be the norm for most pediatricians. i wonder how new guidelines for anything in pediatrics is distributed to doctors.
Overall I think the doctors are by the book. Don't look for too much out of the box line of thinking. They get the job done but they aren't the doctors of old. Most new doctors aren't. So if you think you feel like just a number, may just be.
