I have used them for some time. My last visit there several months ago was very disappointing. I paid them to diagnose a problem with my Van. The van was running hotter (not actually overheating) than normal. (I am no mechanic but I can read the dash gauges, and after owing the van over 9 years, I know when it is not normal.) They could not find ANY problem. The next place I took it, diagnosed it in less than two minutes. How hard is it to determine one of two electric fans is not running. (The one that was out, runs full time when the AC is on.)
Granted it was much harder to diagnose the cause and fix the issue, but this place could not even find the problem. Turns out it was an electrical issue shorting out the entire fuse box!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - E D.Alexandria, LA02Sep 13, 2014
I used Price in the past and was pleased with their services. I took my car to Price to get a new water pump and a thermostat replaced. Well when I picked up my car it still was running hot. I took it back to them and was told I need a fan (which turned out to be not true). I took my car to another shop and I gave the man my invoice from Price he was totally shocked that I was charged $1077+ tax. Over 600 was for labor alone. The new shop informed me that I was definitely overcharged by 500 or more. I do not recommend anyone taking their vehicles to them unless you have money to give away. Another lesson learnt.

They used to do good work (years ago), but not anymore. My last experience with Price Automotive left a sour taste in my mouth. I had a 1986 Toyota SR-5 4x4 that would have dimming lights and such when I turned on my blinkers or when I hit bumps in the road that vibrated the truck..which is obviously an electrical problem right up Price Automotive's alley, right? Wrong.
I dropped the truck off one morning and a few days later get a call informing me that the truck had a short near the pig-tail (the wiring harness used when pulling trailers and such). I was told they cut the wires and put a new harness on, and that the problem was fixed. I show up, pay about $300 or so and leave in my truck. Not more than 100yds from Price Automotive's parking lot, my lights started dimming as I hit bumps in the road. Since I showed up minutes before closing, I had no choice but to drive the truck home until the next day. After I get home I climb underneath it, looking at all the wires. I see the new wiring harness they put, and I start tracing the wires up the frame towards the front of the truck. Low and behold, I find a spot where the wires had rubbed through on the frame. I cut that area out and hooked the wire back together using a butt splice. I test-drive the truck and no dimming lights, nothing wrong.
I go back to Price Automotive the next day and inform them that the truck was not fixed correctly, and that I had found the actual problem and fixed it myself. Of course, I requested that I be refunded and Jesse (the owner) got an attitude with me like he didn't owe me anything for the misdiagnosis and repair of something that wasn't the problem to begin with. After him talking in circles for 10 minutes, he finally decided to refund me half of my total bill and kept the other half. I have not been back since, and this was 5 years ago.
Stay away from Price Automotive unless you have money to burn. Go to First Choice Automotive where they actually know what they're doing and charge far less.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
