This store is closing and moving to Leesburg. There's also another one in Ashburn. I experienced poor customer service, which may have been affected by the impending move. It took 5 minutes before I identified anyone who worked there. I had to ask a person intent on her computer, "are you a salesperson?" That main saleswoman told to drive to the other store to get a gait analysis, even though my podiatrist and physical therapist had not recommended that. So I left the store, but immediately came back to ask a follow-up question. I planted myself near the main saleswoman and tried to make eye contact. I was frustrated when she continued socializing with a customer for several minutes instead of acknowledging my presence.
I need a new pair of running shoes, but I think I'll look to another chain to research and buy those. I was really turned off by my experience at this store.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Raghuraman K.Ashburn, VA029362Oct 23, 2019

Stopped in here tonight and Alex was super helpful. He took the time to measure my feet and also to do a run analysis. He took the time to understand what I was looking for in a shoe and then pulled several pairs of shoes for me to try on. He also told us about upcoming events and current sales. I left with a great new pair of shoes to help me train for my upcoming races. Highly recommend this location.

I took my non-runner husband into PR Running because of their reputation for fitting people for shoes properly. We told them he wasn't a runner, but had bad knees and arches - needed a really supportive shoe. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. His gait was quickly assessed and he had three acceptable options to choose from. We didn't feel rushed - or unwelcome as non runners. The prices were very competitive. Overall, a very positive experience with a small local chain.

Between 18 days and 3 trips waiting on a shoe order equals a very disappointing experience. The customer service provided by majority of the associates great. Matt was genuinely helpful. The situation surrounding my experience was an incredible waste of time an energy picking shoe color after shoe color to find out the shoe colors were not on stock and a pair that was ordered was just seemed like a random color.

Being a newbie, I've always been a little intimidated going into specialty shops like this but I knew I needed to upgrade my shoes. When I first went in, I was able to browse around for a minute or 2 before I was approached - I loved not being pounced on when I first walked in the door. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and really took time to explain what type of shoe would work best for me. They also made other recommendations as I looked through various other sections of the store but I never felt any sales pressure.
Prices will always be a bit higher in brick and mortar shops than online but the extra level of personal service and attention is reason enough to support local business. I'm looking forward to starting Running 101 in March!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - E H.Chantilly, VA05Aug 12, 2017
We had a great experience at the Ashburn store. A few weeks and a few years ago we went to Reston and although it was ok, the customer service at Ashburn location was exceptional. Our sales rep was Gwendy who listened carefully to my post surgery needs and brought out lots of possible matches. With each try, she found a better shoe. I left with the perfect shoes and my husband left promising to return for a new pair.
Thank you, Gwendy!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle B.Chantilly, VA6320Sep 13, 2013
I have always shopped here for my running shoes. In the past I felt cared for by the staff, they carefully checked my shoes making sure I was making the right purchase ; I didn't mind paying full price.
However the past two times I have purchased shoes I have felt rushed by the staff.

I've shopped a lot of running stores, both online and brick-and-mortar, and I have to say PRR is the best! Their prices aren't always the cheapest, but but I'm willing to pay a little extra for proper assessment, advice and fit. And if one joins their VIP program, the ensuing discounts make them extremely price competitive.
=PR= sponsors a number of races in the area, and they are always well organized, and the premiums are superb! In addition, the store offers a number of training programs, and membership in one also provides additional store discounts as well as race discounts!
I've shopped at =PR= for a number of years and find the staff knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and passionate about running. I've never had an employee try to sell me something that wasn't right for me, and in fact, have been steered away from a more expensive shoe to a cheaper one at times.
Their follow up is also outstanding. Recently, I ordered a pair of shoes they did not carry in stock, and after being told they would not arrive until the middle of next week, was called four days later to be told they had arrived.
I love success stories, and PRR is one of them. This is a locally owned and operated business, now with eight locations! They give back to the community in numerous ways, and I am happy to support them!
Highly recommended!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Murray F.Ashburn, VA082Jul 28, 2013
I just wanted to add to the already previous stream of positive comments concerning the POTOMAC River running store.
I wanted to be in a position to support local business and therefore I passed up the big box stores and decided to try a local establishment. I can assure you I was not disappointed with the quality of service and the choices selection at the store.
The staff was attentive to my knees as well as observing excellent customer service with some new writers looking for shoes.
Overall I would highly recommend.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
