About the Business
Postero is a culmination of a quarter of a century of working in restaurants, dining out with friends and family, and an admiration of those with the entrepreneurial spirit. I love food, all of it. I have never met a dish I wouldn't try, and most of em I'd get seconds of. I get that from my mother Lani. She was fearless in the kitchen and when dining out. I have so many memories of cooking with her in her kitchen. Having attended one of the finest culinary schools in the country as well as trained under some really good classically trained chefs has given me a broad base of classic French Culinary Technique. I believe this to be the cornerstone for New American Cuisine, which is a true melting pot of cultures, ingredients, and techniques. I love the idea of applying modern day sensibilities to traditional recipes. Use great ingredients and treat them with respect for where they are from, how they are handled and who they are going to. There are few joys greater in my life than sharing tasty, beautiful food with my family, friends and community that I am proud to be from and continue to be a part of. - Jason R

I love this restaurant; it's fine dining at its best. The food is wonderful. Service- attentive, but not hovering.
One tip - The main level can get noisy. There is also an upper level for dining. If you want quiet conversation, ask for a table upstairs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 254220Oct 20, 2023
So so good!! Get the scallops!
The food was delicious. Did I mention the scallops? Delicious! Our next favorite dish was the shrimp scampi.
Our server was also manning the bar, so service was a little slow, but not terribly. And he was so nice.
The ambiance was neat as the building used to be an old bank. They included a note about the building history on the menu, which is always fun to check out and learn more.
Overall, a great experience and I would recommend to anyone who's in the area.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 29, 2023Updated review
This dining experience never disappoints! It's not just another restaurant. It's an experience. You can taste the adventure in every single dish. The beef tartar was so tender and fulfilling with the Safran and smear. Wow. The underground bread brioche is much appreciated using a local bakery. The miso butter is just divine and unexpected. Tried and true shrimp.scampi is amazingly always on point and delicious. The scallops were seared nicely while tender inside on a corn puree and perfectly cooked broccolini and burst tomatoes. Coffee and pot de creme along with blackberry cobbler. The service was perfect. The food could bot have been better
Thank you again for another phenomenal night.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Mar 18, 2023Previous reviewA tried and true! Always an amazing experience from the service , food to the ambiance . Owners present and checking out the food as it leaves the kitchen. Hot food hot, cold food cold.

Things we liked:
-Our waiter. He was friendly, polite, and great at recommending and describing dishes. He even pointed out that it would be cheaper for us to buy a bottle of wine (serves 4) than 3 individual glasses.
-The sweet & sour brussel sprouts appetizer
-The small amount of choices on the menu. They keep it easy to choose.
-The idea that you can choose multiple side items instead of one expensive main.
Things we did not like:
-The prices. But you know that going in...
-The endive fennel salad. There was a flavor in there that we did NOT like, possibly the endive (similar to lettuce/cabbage). Those of us who ordered this salad all did not finish the part that I think was the endives.
-A friend said her pork shoulder was super salty.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 24, 2022
I was lucky enough to grab a last minute reservation for the hubster and I to enjoy a early lunch at Postero the other weekend.
The ambience is calming and beautiful, a perfectly decorated open floor plan restaurant for cozy dining. There are hidden dinosaurs throughout, so while you wait see how many you can find!
The hubster loved the fried catfish. He says it was very light and flaky. It had delicious flavor and was the best catfish he has ever had! That's a huge compliment from a Southern Georgia boy! He was so impressed that he had to compliment the chef to let her know how amazed he was at the simple dish.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - T R.Asheville, NC0592Feb 27, 2024
Been there three times now, after the first two times were not that great.
Sadly, it looks like it's consistent.
Food is not bad, portions small, drinks are not consitent strength (even their soda and tea), the music is too loud, the staff think they're working at the the Ritz Carlton (a bit snooty), and it's overpriced for what you get.
I'll go back if someone really wants to have a function there; but that's about it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley S.Charlotte, NC9213Feb 17, 2024
The food and drinks were both fantastic. Highlights include the dip (whipped cream consistency), beets and Brie, mushroom bisque and the scallops. Service was great as well and they even gave my wife a birthday card signed by the staff. We'll definitely be back!

First time visiting Postero. My husband & I had reservations for lunch. We arrived a few minutes late and were seated right away. Service was very good. The vanilla bean lemonade was so good! We ordered crab bisque. Didn't like it and didn't taste like crab at all.
We did have Caesar salads with chicken and with shrimp. Salads were delicious too!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 16104226Mar 22, 2023Updated review
Since it's opening this has been my go to fine dining place in HVL. Tonight I was pleasantly surprised with some awesome additions to the menu. Honestly, I am expecting the James Beard people to be discovering Postero soon.

Apr 18, 2018Previous reviewPostero remains my #1 Restaurant venue in HVL. Any serious foodie needing a break from AVL needs to journey here. Excellent cuisine, fresh and local ingredients, creatively produced and served by a super attentive wait staff. So happy, but not surprised, Postero has become so successful.
Jul 30, 2015Previous reviewWhat's as good as dinner at Postero? Lunch!!! A reduced size menu compared to dinner, but excellent choices.
Jun 10, 2015Previous reviewWe enjoyed a magnificent dinner here last evening with long time friends who now reside in SC. It's a treat to introduce people to Postero. Everyone is always impressed. My prediction: Postero will become a destination restaurant for foodie tourists and locals alike. This cuisine remains creative, well balanced, served professionally and prices are very reasonable.
Thanks Postero!Mar 6, 2015Previous reviewThis place just keeps getting better and better. Any of you foodie magazines coming to Asheville, you need to head to Hendersonville for dinner at Postero. You will not be disappointed.
This evening I ate here by myself at the bar and enjoyed the special, the Coastal Catch. Carolina clams, shrimp, and flounder with some potatoes, onion and tomato, exquisitely seasoned.
I am so so happy to have world class dining right here in Hendersonville. Life is Good.Nov 5, 2014Previous reviewTrust me, this is a DESTINATION restaurant in WNC as well as Upstate SC. Easily in the same league as the best of the best in Asheville or Greenville, or anywhere in NC! The ambiance is BiG City. The open kitchen is remarkable. Service is excellent. The wine list is good, and it's so nice to have excellent wines that are very reasonably priced. The cuisine is, simply, superb. My wife and I will dine here often.

Always enjoy lunch at Postero's. Started with their in-house chips with rosemary mousse dip. Add a cocktail or delicious (albeit, sweet) vanilla lemonade. Then on to the other lunch offerings. Chris was our pleasant and helpful server; graciously took care of transferring leftover into go box. He mentioned two new lunch menu items. Crab Bisque and Gumbo & Dumplings. My partner had the Gumbo (with rabbit) and loved it. My go to is the shrimp scampi which is dinner sized portion. Enough to bring home for another meal. One fun clever feature are the toy dinosaur replicas that are randomly placed throughout the restaurant. We parked in the new garage. Must have eaten and got back before the hour was up; it is free for the 1st and $3 for the next.
Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 25, 2022Previous reviewThursday noon lunch with family. Did make reservations but wasn't too busy. Glad to have them open for lunch again. My go to is the rosemary mousse with in-house BBQ chips and vanilla lemonade. The scampi creation with shrimp was outstanding. Salads are plentiful and the added protein is cooked perfectly. Duo burger is tasty and filling. Service and hostess were pleasant and helpful. Prices have crept up a bit but quality and quantity are worth it. One of the nicer places to lunch in HVL.
Aug 7, 2020Previous reviewWhen we started lunch with vanilla bean lemonade and homemade BBQ potato chips with rosemary onion mousse dip we realized that this would be a creative and delicious culinary adventure. Arugula peach salad, shrimp scampi, mussels and Panna Cotta completed our meal. Original, tasty and adequate portions...you can take that to the bank!
