I went with some family when we went to visit them and we were surprised when they told us about the hot spot was a pizza joint...
Let me tell you it was PACKED and was a great place some delicious Pizza of all kinds. We got the large pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. We also had the Hawaiian style that rocked my rocks off.
They offer all kinds of stuff to go with your pizza: Ranch, extra marinara sauce and had desserts too.
Awesome time! -

I totally dig this place. I used to go there when I was H.S so that tells you that was a long long time ago. Had a large pepperoni and order some chicken wings and I felt sorry for the kids. They were so happy but when we got home it was time to lay down and massage our bellies.........
The service to me has always been awesome and I love their delivery service they offer. I'm already planning my Super Bowl meal and I think Porky's is in the top 5 -

If you're looking for a cool place to hangout in San Leandro sans the crazy bar scene, this is a great place to go. Porky's has great pizza and appetizers (the breaded mushrooms are to die for!), and a pretty decent happy hour. My one complaint is that the happy hour could last a little longer (only last until 5:30p.m. on weeknights). Usually when I go here, I have to race over after work and get in my order of a ton of beer and food before the 5:30 mark because my co-workers normally don't leave work until after happy hour is over. And while the bar scene isn't crazy, it does exist, but every time I come here, it consists of the same friendly, laid back crowd. The bartender is also super friendly and patient (it takes me a while to decide which four types of beer I want in my pitchers).
All in all, I would definitely recommend Porky's. I've made it my regular after-work hangout. -

This place has been here for as long as a can remember. I think my friends Miguel and Marco (RIP) we're the first that introduced me to this place back in the day. Since then I am a big fan of their pizza preferably ham or all meat. Try their cheesy bread bites which are good also. Good place to come with friends or gatherings. This place also has a full bar and a live banjo band thursday nights. I also like the fact that they hire young kids to work, which keeps these babies off the streets!
5 stars!!!!! -

Came here to celebrate my Aunt's 60th b-day...yes, you heard that right! Although it's a little dive-y, everyone had a great time. My cousin ordered the food in advance so we didn't have to wait too long for pizza and fried chicken. Sounded like an interesting combination to me at first, but it really is delicious.
Their pizzas had a generous amount of toppings and were piping hot. The fried chicken was very lightly breaded. An unexpected resemblance to Chinese fried chicken.
Not sure what occasion would bring me back here, but I definitely would get back for some fried chicken! -

I've been living in the Hayward/San Leandro area for over 20 years now, and I've had my fair share of pizza places...some excellent & others not so great.
Porky's Pizza Palace is one of those not so great pizza establishments. I ordered a chicken dinner that was 9 bucks! Very pricey and the chicken flat out tasted like cardboard. No seasoning, lukewarm, and the chicken tasted like it spent a week in the freezer before it got into my mouth. I also forgot to say that they slightly burned my potato wedges! Gross!
My friends ordered a combination pizza, which they offered for me to try since I didn't get any pizza. Let me say one thing, I've had better pizza from dominos. Honestly, the pizza was little sloggy and bland. They dumped all this cheese on the pizza and the toppings were hardly there.
Porky's has been around since I was in elementary school, but it has looked the same from what I've remembered. Ugh, it's 2011.. time to invest in some new decor. Also, the kitchen looked small for all those 15 employees to be walking around at. They looked slaves in those Italian collared shirts.
One last thing I should mention about the bar, the old lady in the glasses needs to work on her customer service skills. Yeah I know this isn't a mega-corporation or anything, but a "please and thank you" would be nice instead of a grunt look on your face. Please retire lady.
But on a positive note, it's a great place to take your kids if you want a cheap alternative to Chuckie Cheese, but be warned.. you're going to need lots of beer to not notice the terrible taste of their food. I would suggest eating something before you walk in. -

It's like walking into an 80s mall scene, filled with boisterous post sporting event children, families and locals.
Pizza was really good. I'm in. -

A pet peeve of mine is when average or slightly below average establishments (in terms of quality/taste of the food) have high ratings on here. This joint represents the latter.
I love the pizza crust, but the sauce, cheese, and toppings need work. Though I would hope for a pizza topped with an abundance of ingredients, I was disappointed to find the pizza we ordered had hardly any toppings. We had mushrooms, pepperoni, salami, and sausage. Yet, 80% of the pizza was COVERED in cheese, the toppings were very sparse.
Wrong pizza maybe or bad night? IDK, but not too sure if I'll be back to find out. -

Cool little sports bar thing going on. Their food sucks except for the fried chicken! The potato wedges are very dry and the pizza is not even good. No wonder they serve so much alcohol

Giving them a 4 star due to all past experiences. Pizza is good, but the pizza sandwich is better.
I ordered food to go this past sunday and was eager to try the fried chicken. I've heard it was good and seen pictures on Yelp so ordered it. Once i got home and opened the carton i was shocked. I thought it was a joke!! It looked like the chicken was sitting out for hours and was re-fried. It was burnt, brown, dry and there was barley any meat. It ended up in the garbage.
Good thing i ordered a pizza for lunch the next day, that saved the night. -

Been going here since High School. It was the place to go after our hoop games. The Pizza has grown on me but I have tasted better. But for San Leandro, this is a gem for locals.
My favorite is the fried chicken and the the pizza sub sandwich. This is what I normally order. The Pizza is good though when in the mood and when it is perfectly cooked. One thing I like is the owners are always willing to satisfy my request.
The ambiance is your typical Pizza Parlor, nothing fancy for a suburban local gem.
One thing I like about this place is they hire a lot of local kids in high school. I remember as a kid I wanted a job here but it was all Caucasians and thought to myself they don't hire nothing but. Now I have seen a few non-caucasians working there which is good because San Leandro Washington Manor area has been more of a mix community since I was younger. Also it makes the place more welcoming.
I recommend this place. -

I love the atmosphere at Porky's! It's old school, and reminds me of a pizza place back in the south bay that my dad used to take me to.
We ordered a large combo, and not only did it taste great, it was filling, and we had some left over, mmmmmmmmm! We plan to go back and watch an A's game, eat pizza, and drink a beer or two. I love this place! -

Fried chicken dinner is not bad!!!
I always crave for fried chicken twice a month. So last sunday I dug around yelp to find fried chicken spot in san leandro other than kfc and popeyes. I came across with Porky Palace on yelp saying that they got good fried chicken so I decided to give it a try. I ordered a fried chicken to go $8.70 tax included. After the 10 minutes drive back to home, it's still fresh and crispy.
Chicken dinner includes 1 thigh, 1 leg, 1 wing, 1 breast, 1 small cup of cooleslaw, garlic bread, and fries made from one potato. The chicken are not as heavily seasoned compared to those in kfc and popeyes. Chickens were fresh and fried in a light batter with less seasonings. So if you think kfc are too oily and salty, you may able to find this place better. Garlic break is still crispy, huge fries are actually made from one potato (you can put them back together into one potato!!! thats crazy) The portion of coleslaw is just too small- would be better to have more refreshing coleslaw when eating all these greasy food. HUGE PORTION and I COULDN"T FINISH IT.
I realized I've been giving out4 stars and 5 stars easily and I have to change the habit. I'd love to rate this place a 3.5 star. Huge portion- but given the fact that it's more than $8, it better be huge. Fried chicken is definitely not bad, different from popeyes, but not the best I've ever had! You may like it, so give it a try. -

Nice place for pizza and good time. Nice old fashioned pizza parlor. I will be back again. My only complaint is no drink refills. Try the all meat and the marinated chicken and artichoke with garlic sauce. The family loved them.

Porky's Pizza Palace is a good old fashioned pizza and beer joint. Their are not many of these original places left, most pizza places are now chains but Porky's survives because of one thing: Really Good Pizza!
I think most restaurants try and offer specials, add items, mix up their menu but they fail on consistency of their main product. Porky's has stuck to their pizza recipe, mastered it, and continues to knock out superb pizza night after night which is why the place is packed every night of the week. They have at least 10 people making pizza on weekend nights because their is a line out the door for takeout.
The pizza has a ton of toppings, real cheese and very fresh ingredients. The crust has a nice sourdough flavor and is perfect. Their sauce is very light, not a heavy spicy Italian sauce, I actually prefer a heavier sauce but with ingredients piled high and the great flavor of the crust the light sauce blends really well.
Give them a shot, they will not disappoint. -

There's a first time for everything. My friends and I went here for St. Patrick's Day to hear the banjos and to eat some food. 2/4s of us had never ventured to this side of San Leandro. We were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overflowing with people celebrating St. Patty's. We ordered the Porky's Combo which was quite tasty. We substituted anchovies and put on green peppers which was absolutely perfect. The pizza was definitely falling apart and we needed a knife and fork to eat it. That's OK though because it was pretty tasty. We also ordered some fried chicken which didn't have enough flavour for my liking. It was pretty typical for what you'd normally get.
The bar was packed and the banjos were jamming. The crowd was well mixed. My friend took my hand and started dancing with me when I wasn't quite ready. This was a great way to spend St. Patty's Day...in the company of some good friends and food.
The name and the interior reminds me of something straight out of an 80s movie. -

We came in an hour before closing on a Sunday night and received simply wonderful food and service. The pizza is the old fashioned medium crust kind from my childhood with lots of cheese and fresh topping, and the fried chicken was plump and juicy and everything it should be. Add the surprisingly good beer selection and you have a recipe for a great night out.

A great local family pizza parlor!
I'm so happy I finally tried Porky's. The people, the food, and the beer were nothing short of amazing. It was as if the planets were in alignment and everything was right in the world.
We strolled in here one afternoon with a hunger for pizza and a thirst or beer. I expected a normal selection of pies but was pleasantly surprised with the massive menu. All sorts of things to choose from. Our pizza was cooked to perfection.
The beer list is just as big and has all sorta of micro's that you'd normally only find at the most awesome of bars. They featured many of my favorite breweries and for this I applaud them. Drakes, Lagunitas, and Sierra Nevada were flowing like water.
The true gem of this place are the people. Everyone is a local and knows each other. The kids working behind the counters are all local high schoolers and have known the owner's family for years and are practically part of the gang.
Being that everyone knew each other's name, I figured I would be ostracized from the bar top. This is the exact opposite of what happened. I ended ip having a 45minute conversation with nice lady that has known the "Porky's" family for years. It made me instantly feel like I was now a part of the community as I had just moved to San Leandro.
I will return without a doubt. -

I guess when you have super expectations and you go somewhere that is average at best it really sucks even more. This place has so much hype around it that we were eagerly waiting to try this place. I can honestly say this pizza is not that great.
I really enjoyed the deep fried cheese raviolis, that was the high light of the trip.
The pizza crust was allot thiner than we expected, but that isn't what made the pizza suck. There was little to no sauce on our entire pizza. I have never in my life had a pizza that was so dry. Every bite was just cheese and dough. The toppings were very tasty but the rest of the pizza was totally lacking. We didn't order any peppers but almost every bite tasted of green peppers.
Both of our drinks came out of the fountain warm. It's so warm that the ice melts very fast and your drink is then watered down. Can you not afford to serve cold beverages?
Lastly, when we were leaving we needed a box because we didn't eat very much of our large pizza. The girl gives us a box that looks like a box for bread sticks and expects us to fit it in there. After mangling our pizza we go back and say it will not fit. Reluctantly she gives us a small size box, which still does not fit our pizza, and slices end up on top of each other.
Needless to say we will not be going to this pizza place any time in the near future. It's possible we just went on an off night when no one really cared about making quality food. They should really think about the kind of food they are giving to people. That is not the way to get happy customers. They obviously didn't care to properly make our food or ensure we had the right size box. -

Hey Porky's you got great pizza and I loved your wings until you got real skimpy with them. You couldn't beat 40 wings for $20 but now they have gotten smaller and hardly any meat. What's the deal?
But pizza is delish!!! -

Come here for the pizza :)
I came here with my two kids to meet a friend and his two kids. I had a good deal from http://restaurant.com that stated we had to buy $50 worth of food. So off we went....smorgasbord!
Pizza - we got cheese with pepperoni and olives. Excellent.
Mini corndogs - standard.
Garlic bread with cheese - standard.
Chicken -wish I knew it was fried. It was mostly skin and hard to pull the meat off, but I managed.
Salads - good, but came with beets, kidney beans and garbanzos, fyi.
Sodas - We had to pay for these separately, so we couldn't put it toward our $50 limit.
They also tacked 18% gratuity on, so it wasn't as good of a deal as we had hoped. Regardless, pizza was good, so I'd stick to that. -

I've heard a lot about this place since I moved to San Leandro, so my wife & I decided to have dinner here. I thought that it wouldn't be too busy, since it was a weekday night and there wasn't any interesting sporting events on TV. Boy, was I wrong! We got there at 6:30 tonight, and the place was almost packed. We ordered a large Porky's Combo (with the anchovies!) and a pitcher of soda, and found a table for 2. The pizza took a while, because it was so busy. But when it came, it was delicious. They didn't skimp on the toppings, and the anchovies were large and very salty. Between the 2 of us, we ate half the large pizza and took the rest home for leftover lunch.
I also heard that the fried chicken is very good, so I'll try that next time. But make sure you get there before 7 PM. By the time we finished and left, there was a line out the door! -

This is my favorite pizza place. I have eaten here many times in the past twenty years. Everything here is fresh. Pepperoni pizza is my favorite, and Porkys sauce is why this is my favorite. Another couple of must tries are the fried chicken, spaghetti, and the ravioli's. These all make me really happy when I eat them. Even though the sauce is so good I always get light sauce on my pizza otherwise its a little too much, seeing as though I always eat a large pizza to my face. I LOVE PORKYS PIZZA PALACE.

Best pizza in San Leandro!
Been going here all my life. Love their pizzas and pizza subs. Big fan of the crust :) Also their chicken is pretty tasty. The atmosphere is great. Kids can play (shoot hoops & play games) while parents can enjoy the sports on their big screen. It is a pretty loud place so If you don't want to leave home they are pretty quick with delivery and right wrongs if a mistake is made.
Prices are pretty average for family owned pizza places. They are great for fundraising and to host a party at. Had lots of school functions here. -

It's been years since I've had Porky's and I can't believe I forgot to add my 2 cents until now! We ordered a 16" The Vegetarian with everything except tomatoes and it was very good - fresh ingredients and dough with ample cheese in each bite that provided a nice mix of textures and flavors without any of the sogginess that's often found in veggie pizzas. Not the cheapest pizza at about $25 for the "Giant" size, but well worth it for the quality and delivery was prompt as well.

Guilty pleasure pizza... and chicken.
I was here for a family party and was transported back in time to simpler days when people sat together with strangers at the same table and kids ran around begging for more quarters to feed into the colorful machines. Half the adults watched sports on one of the many TVs and the rest attempted conversation.
My sister and I fought our new roles as adults in this setting and then gave up after sampling some of the fried chicken wings. Hot piping pizzas arrived to our table occasionally as did additional pitchers of soda and beer... but my sis and I could not be swayed. Yes, the pizza was nice but we unabashedly went after another round of fried chicken wings. Aww yeah.
We knew fried chicken wasn't the healthiest of food options but we figured that wings are small.. so it's not like we were eating whole pieces of chicken. *starts tearing up from laughing so hard* Anyway, wings ARE easy to share and do really go well with pizza.
Everyone left the party stuffed and though I seriously felt that I'd consumed a month's worth of calories I'm not ashamed to admit that I'd do it all again.
Great for groups, people with offspring, people who like TV, and people who like places that remind them of pizza joints from back-in-the-day. -

Best in it's class. Best in the East Bay. Best I have had in California, maybe the country. Yeah, that's right I said it. Full of flavor. I would drive out from all over to try this pizza.
Look I love Tomasso's, they make a fantastic pizza. It's like the classic style with the wood fired stove and everything. It's just a different class of pizza.
If you want a gut filler, tons of cheese melted, stretching, fresh mozzarella, piles of toppings full of fresh flavor, spicy pepperoni, crust risen, light and dark, thin, thick or classic, baked to perfection, YOU WANT PORKY'S.
I live just outside of there delivery zone. :-(
So I drive my a** over there because it's worth it.
My wife loves the fried chicken. We love the ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs, fried ravioli appetizer, mozzarella sticks, salads (a pizza place salad) and of course beer. They have a small bar, and local and stand by beers.
Do your self a favor and visit at least once in your life. Old school space, with great faire. -

I have always liked Porky's not only because it is big and you can take a group there but the pizza is good. The service is good and quick and they have a great beer selection, so how can you go wrong when there are so many beers to choose from.
I took 18 others along with me for dinner and we all ordered when we got there and the wait time was minimal. I ordered for four, a lg pizza, fried chicken and spaghetti. It was all good, my only complaint is not enough sauce on the pasta, it was a bit dry could have used a large serving more of sauce but it had flavor. Everyone liked their food and we ordered a lot amongst the 19 of us.
They were also serving the 30th anniversary Sierra Nevada Beer series. They sold a five sampler of them for $10.00 and this was a good deal to taste them all. I really like the Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale.
Not only does Porky's have great food and service they have games for the kids, and they support many youth sports.
It does get very noisy so you do need to yell a bit, but heck have one more beer and no one will notice. -

This place is legit. Been there a few times. The Porky's combo is so jam-packed with toppings and cheese, that it makes it's price seem like a bargain. The chicken was pretty so so to me. Kinda reminded me of Safeway (lacking spices or something) but crispier. The fried Mozzarella sticks were decent. And the Wings I don't think I'd order again. But man oh man, the pizza is good. There are a few video game machines. So the kids have things to do. The bar has some several beers on tap (along with some Cali ones), so I was set.

Delicious hearty pizza on great dough, with great sauce options. We usually get a 1/2 combo, 1/2 veggie with anchovies on the side. That's right, anchovies! Can't find that in too many pizza places these days. Also good is the chicken garlic with a creamy white sauce. The caeser salad has a creamy dressing over lettuce and croutons. They give a generous portion of dressing.
EXPENSIVE, and they charge for delivery. Giant (largest size) comination with a large caesar salad, delivered, with tip was $39.00. That fed three adults and two kids with three slices leftover.
We only use their delivery service, which is normally under 45 minutes. Pizza is always hot. Like that they give our neighborhood kids jobs. -

Never had a problem other then needing some Pepto after eating here.

Gave it a try last week after driving by a few times and being fascinated with it the past couple of years.
Its situated in "the Manor" which is an interesting corner of S'leandro in and of itself. But Porky's is even funkier than the surroundings. Fun atmosphere, and looks like they have lively entertainment on busy evenings.
Ordered the Large Vegetarian and threw is some anchovies on 1/2 of it. They have an online ordering system and you get 10% off your first online order. Not too shabby. It was easy enough (although ordering with your mobile phone gets a little trickier -- no issues with a regular computer though), and it even sent an email receipt and gave us an approximate time when the order would be ready (merely 20 mins!) You even get to choose your crust style.
The pizza was a hit with the family -- generous serving of toppings, all very flavorful. We'll be going back to checkout the other things on the menu and maybe sample their entertainment fare too. -

Yesterday we couldn't make up our mind to find a really GOOD PIZZA place to eat.
So, we decided to look up on YELP and this place showed up to be the highest in BEST PIZZA ranking.
We ordered the Giant 16" half Hawaiian style pizza with more meat added to it and half of the BBQ Chicken Delight.
It said there was about 14 slices in the Giant pizza, but there really wasn't.
It was about 10 slices, I think.
I noticed that they didn't put a lot of the pineapple pieces on the pizza.
That really sucked!! =(
The prices here is a little bit high, but it's the quality that counts.
What you pay, is what you get.
Any who, my bf told me that the restaurant was really packed with customers.
Overall, the pizza was okay better than the Little Caesar's Pizza. -

I love pizza. It's a given that I REALLY like my pizza pie. One week I've had it a record 4x a week. Porky's is a neighborhood favorite pizza joint; you see the delivery trucks everywhere.
Porky's makes a delectable pie. I've ordered chicken garlic a few times, which is usually consistently good, except this one time when it tasted really off, the mozzarella in particular. But when I ordered chicken pesto gourmet (Classic Sweet Basil Pesto Sauce, topped with Tender Chunks of Seasoned Chicken, Fresh Mushrooms, Onions, Bell Peppers, $21.50 for large) the other day, the quality was just as I remembered, and everybody agreed Porky's was a good choice. Porky's pizzas have pan crust but never overly bready, since I typically prefer the thin crust. However, the crust does have a crisp to it.
What really puzzles me is their hours. On week days, they totally miss the lunch hour opening at 3 PM! Maybe because they employ high schoolers only?
This review was really purposed to commend the driver's honesty. Apparently, I had two crisp $20s stuck together as I paid. A minute or so later, I heard the doorbell with the young man to return my $20. We really need more people like him to restore my faith in strangers. -

I ordered delivery from Porky's Pizza, and was surprised at how much it cost me to order a mini aka small. The pizza itself was $12.79, but with delivery being $1.99 (this is not including the tip for the driver), tip for the driver, and tax the meal turned out to almost be $20 for a small pizza. The delivery time wasn't too bad, about 30 minutes to deliver and right to the door of the hotel I was staying at.
So I was thinking, I paid $20 for small pizza, it better be amazing... yet it was quite disappointed. The pizza covered in toppings (not a bad thing), but I just felt like the quality wasn't there. I ate about half the mini, which was more of the size of a medium pizza from domino's, until I was full.
I would say if you were looking for pizza, look elsewhere there may be some other better choices.Comment from Gary V. of Porky's Pizza Palace 7/4/2010

Great fried chicken for a pizza joint. I usually call in for pick up. Their pizza is also good. i really like their garlic chicken pizza! But i do love garlic so anything with garlic, I like...=)
I like coming here so i can support local small businesses. They also have fundraisers for schools from time to time. They will donate 20% of purchases if your school speak to the owners about their fundraiser programs.
Go stuff your face with some yummy chicken and delicious pizza!!
