In times of economic uncertainty, extreme gas prices, and record-high inflation, it's textbook for businesses to pass-thru their higher operating expenses on to their customers. It is a given. It is what I learned to do in school and it is what I saw hundreds of companies do during my tenure as a commercial underwriter.
Then I heard about Porkie's on my local Orlando news. The owner Steve CHOOSE TO CUT HIS PROFIT MARGINS to make sure his community was taken care of and could afford to buy a meal. So I drove the hour to show my support for this small business that puts its community before profits.
They got me in the door with their community-centric business but they gained a long-term customer because of their delicious food and friendly staff!
Since I don't normally like BBQ, I was a little overwhelmed with their menu but the staff gave me lots of suggestions. I had the brisket sandwich dine-in (which was so yummy!) and ordered a few pounds of the meats to take home since I was hosting game night that night. The BBQ was such a hit with my friends! My only regret is forgetting to order some of the sides to take home as well. But there will be other game nights to host!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 5190377May 8, 2023
The brisket is very lean, but still very juicy and flavorful! The meals are large and a good value. The Texas toast are very tasty as well! There's a large list of options for sides. The staff was very friendly and service was quick. We did take out and it traveled really well home! Definitely a great BBQ place in Apopka.

How have I never done a review of Porky's? I've been coming here for years! Whenever I crave pulled pork and I'm in the Downtown Apopka area, I stop at Porky's. It's a tiny place, and I only use the drive thru when I visit, but there is a porch area with seating for folks that want to stay and eat.
On my current visit, I got a "plate" of pulled pork with a side of fries. Normally, you get two sides, but fries count as two on a plate. Everything was delicious! Looking forward to my next visit!Helpful 66Thanks 6Love this 51Oh no 0 - Christopher P.Orlando, FL37271462Mar 10, 2023
I finally got to try this place! O M G this spot is super fire! Old school bbq joint! The lady behind the counter helped me pick out the Monster Ribeye Samich! Check this bad boy out in my photos!

I had a craving for a pulled pork basket. At $9.99 it's the best deal you'll get. The pulled pork is always delicious. Get the baked beans, they're the best side.
You also get a drink and the other side was the dirty tators, which were pretty good.
Unfortunately, I ordered a ribeye sandwich for my spouse since they told me it was shaved. It comes with aus jus that was not touched, it was flavorless.
The ribeye was not shaved, but in chunks & strips. The large sized white bread that it was on was too much bread to the small portion of meat ratio. We threw
the bread out and ate very little of the over-cooked ribeye, anyway. It was certainly not priced right at $13.25 (for just the sandwich)!
BTW, in the past, I've had their baby back ribs and they are smoked to perfection.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 26, 2021Previous reviewThe staff is top notch in this place. They really go out of your way to please you. Very helpful and very friendly. My better half
didn't care for their side so they changed it out easily with a smile.
My spouse said their ribs were so tender and tasted great. Their sauces are delicious which leads me to the fantastic pulled
pork sandwich. The best side that make is the baked beans. This is definitely BBQ done right! - 1054173597Dec 17, 2021
In downtown Apopka, nestled in the Main Street strip is a local hangout where the staff is friendly and the food fantastic. It's nearly 1pm on a Friday and the place is packed. Hardly an empty seat anywhere and a line of cars backed up for the drive thru window. So, a promising start. Upon entering, the cashier was coming in from grabbing some orders from the drive thru line and I ask her, "what's good here?" She recommends the pulled pork and the Monster Ribeye. I order the Monster Ribeye with the Summer slaw and Bbq baked beans with a drink. She asks my name and I sit. The restaurant is small with only a small strip of seats along the side of the large kitchen with a covered patio out front. The walls covered in an assortment of pictures divided to music, golfing and NASCAR, all faded from the years of hanging on the walls. It reminds me of the local burger joints in Southern California.
The staff knows its clients and as they are delivering the food they ask questions from familiarity which gives it a very tight family feel. My food arrived and it looks great! It's kind of like a cross between a cheese steak sandwich and a steak sandwich. Beautifully smoked pieces of ribeye, caramelized onions, peppers and fresh mushrooms in a toasted French roll. The sides are a bit small but the sandwich is as advertised... it's a monster! The meat is flavorful, seasoned perfectly and tender. It really pops in your mouth. The veggies are cooked perfectly. Not over out under cooked. The peppers are crisp, the onions slightly al dente and the mushrooms Give just the right amount of flavor support. The slaw is not creamy, but more of a Carolina style with vinegar and a slight sweetness to it. It's a little wilted but still full of flavor. The beans are fantastic with a nice bacon and brown sugar mix. They really carry a LOT of goodness. And with all of it, there's a nice cup of au jus to dip the sandwich into to give it even more flavor. At each table you have 6 different flavors of sauce to top your food with. While I really wanted to try each flavor, this sandwich doesn't need it. It's perfect just as it is! Maybe next time.
The staff is very attentive, even the manager came out and touched every table asking if the food was great and offering desserts to those who wanted it. I was full and had no room for dessert. Too bad, I'm a fan of banana pudding but there was no room for that. The only thing that is an issue is they have potato bugs in the dining room and there little flying insects are a real pain in the butt. They are highly aggressive and fly around your face while you are trying to eat. It would be nice if they were more aggressive in eliminating the unwanted guests.
But, if you are looking for really good BBQ in the Apopka area, this place will definitely fill the bill. And with the attention to customer service. If you aren't happy with your food, it certainly seems like they will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy. Bon appetite!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Debbie W.Nineveh, IN01420Mar 23, 2023
The food and service were excellent. The owner was very personable and checked on the customers satisfaction often. Will definitely return.

The customer service was terrible. The person at the register was not customer friendly. They were very impatient and impolite. The majority of the food was room temperature. The seasoned fries were just a small handful of salty fries thrown on a plate. The ribs and brisket were very dry. The quality of the food was not worth over $50 for 2 meals and extra ribs and fries. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
