This location has a Drive Through, & is a hit or miss with wait times. In my last few visits I was able to order on the Popeyes App & pick up my order in good time with a little wait. On the App you can get coupons/promos for Family Chicken Meals & even score some freebies. For my last order, they were offering a free 6pc wings deal w/ a $10 purchase.
The Regular & Spicy Fried Chicken are always a win with my Fam. Can't go wrong on their sides. I'll admit, I sometimes get just their sides if I don't want to make it during the holidays, lol.
Those Flavored Wings are one of their newer items. Beware, all of the newer flavored wings definitely has a kick to it. Or maybe it was my recent order. All my wings that I ordered had a kick, even the BBQ flavored one. I think they use the Ghost Pepper Spice as a base for all of the flavored wings. Just a note for the spicy lightweights. Also, wings seem to have more breading on chicken. I prefer a naked wing vs a breaded wing... But if you like that, you will definitely get breaded/battered wings here.
Service has been good. I didn't have any issues with my food or anything at this location. Just a little mishap with my account... Popeyes Customer Service is really on top of things. They emailed me back quick & resolved the issue right away.Helpful 11Thanks 3Love this 9Oh no 0 - Jan 14, 2024
I haven't been here in a while, but today I thought Popeyes would be good for lunch. My family I usually do their 12 piece family meal, rice and beans and Cajun fries. The chicken is cooked perfectly and crunchy which I love! I usually go with mild instead of spicy just in case it would be go spicy for my kids.
We usually do their drive through and service is good, fast, clear and friendly. I have to say that the person in the drive through was extra helpful today. I appreciate that they made sure nothing was missing from our order.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Michael C.Oxnard, CA01357Mar 11, 20244 check-ins
Good chicken and good food all around. The service overall. I recommend double checking your order before you leave. I understand from time to time when it's really busy we all tend to forget about things, but the workers do their best to make it happen for the people. The place overall is nice and clean. I suggest downloading the app to save money and also don't forget about the recent to get a free 2pc and a biscuit with purchase of a large drink.

I'm updating my review because this place deserves reappraisal. Since I wrote my original review I've visited at least a dozen times. Every visit I've scored great tasting food with very minimal wait time.
The drive thru used to take forever. I don't know how, but they've totally turned that around. The line moves along like any other drive thru, no excessive delays.
And the chicken? The chicken here is just about perfect. Sometimes I get the chicken, sometimes the Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
I don't know how many Spicy Chicken sándwiches I've had since I wrote my previous review, but I know each one has been great. Even that one time when I got a weird gnarly-shaped hunk of chicken, ugly as sin, in my sandwich, it was still freaking delicious. Didn't look good in my photos but it felt good in my stomach. Lol.
Hey Popeyes: Whatever you guys are doing, keep that (good stuff) up. You guys probably already know it, but if not, I'm telling you, you're killing it!

I'm in Oxnard and I'm waiting for my chicken
There aren't any Brownstones in Oxnard. I don't think I could make it up three flights of stairs even if there were.
No, in Oxnard if you need to score you get your scratch and go down to N Ventura Rd, you know, on the corner of W Gonzalez. You gotta find a cat named Popeye. I know, but whatever.
Now, about Popeye, first thing you learn is that you always gotta wait. Popeye deals never go down without some complication. Usually you gotta wait.
I'm waiting for my chicken.
Twenty-six dollars in my hand.
You gotta be jonesing hard to put up with the wait at this Drive Thru. And it's not just the long wait for your order, it's also that the food is lukewarm. It's never hot. And I think they cut the mash potatoes.
But I was jonesing hard. I headed over to
Oxnard.
Popeye barely 2 stars. Like a star and a brown dwarf. You know, because that second one never gonna get hot enough to achieve fusion.
Heads up. This is a very busy intersection. Anyone see you here they're gonna know what you're up to. If you're worried someone gonna see you creeping around, you can come up N Ventura Rd and turn on Azelea. Then look for the alley strewn with broken glass and shattered dreams.
Take the alley almost to the end and wait for your boy Popeye on the right.
And wait.
Finally Popeye shows up. All dressed in black. PR shoes and a big straw hat.
He's got the works, gives you sweet taste
Then you gotta split because you got no time to waste

Best popeyes in ventura county the tenders are always nice and hot along with the mac and cheese with a biscuit and soft drink! My mouth drools thinking about it! Staff is friendly and this place offers military discounts if you request it!

L Popeyes, never has fries ?? Like what ??? That's literally half the reason you're known for AND RANCH?? What kind of un prepared person is running this place. L manager. The one on Saviors road is way better in every aspect, customer service AND being PREPARED. This is the second time we come by and they got a poster saying no fries no ranch no biscuits? Like whatttt in the world.

GETTING HERE: Popeye's is located on the corner of Ventura Road and Gonzales Blvd where all the gas stations come together.
REVIEW: I am not sure what you'd expect from a fast food place, but my expectations are usually paying for/receiving hot food, or at least warm food. I have been through the drive-through a few times and ordered via the app and picked up in the dining room. It was OK. It was fine.
My family is obsessed with the spicy chicken sandwich and a huge fan of their French fries too. I haven't experienced any huge issues (yet) thankfully. On my most recent app order (pick up in the dining room) there was a problem with the lemonade I ordered. It was watery and didn't have any flavor whatsoever. I ran back in to return it for a different drink instead and the young man working was friendly and courteous that he switched me out for one of their fancy lemonades (I don't recall the name, it was a lemonade slushy type drink and it was really tasty).
The other food items have been OK. A little on the greasy side sometimes, but nothing glaring out of control. I would recommend if you're in a pinch and craving chicken.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - 283172782Sep 17, 2022
Today we tried the new Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp & the Banana Cream Cake.
We ordered on the app & it worked fine.
The Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp were really good, hot, fresh & nicely battered. Definitely worth ordering.
The Banana Cream Cake was moist, perfect dessert size & had good banana flavor.
Drive-thu always has a line.
Three tables available outside so you could bring your dog.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ethan T.Kansas City, MO29371Jan 16, 2024

Worst place. Only 1 car in front of me and had to wait 30 minutes to get to finally get to the ordering speaker and they still had me wait another 5 minutes until they finally acknowledged me and it was just to say they are only taking cash. I said okay. And then had to wait another 5 minutes until they had the audacity to say... "let me know if you are ready" lol! They also had paper signs on the menu that said out of fries and shrimp. Which is exactly what I was waiting 40 minutes to order. lol. Can't wait for this place to go out of business.
